Crystal's P.O.V

As everybody went into the castle,I let out a small, sad sigh.Dumbledore is still here and Voldemort is dead.Yet,some parents don't want their children to come to school.I then remembered Hermione's anger attack, this will definitely be a long year.On the bright side,Harry and I will be able to spend more time together.I was still worried about Hermione. She would tell me that sometimes she envies my looks, but I envy her looks sometimes as well.I helped Hermione get Ron as a boyfriend, mow I'll help her get somebody else as a boyfriend. Then I felt a hand around my waist.

"Crystal?"

"Yeah Harry."

"Time to go inside the feast is about to start."

With a quick kiss Harry and Crystal made their way to the castle. As soon as Harry opened the door,Hermione stood there with tears coming down her face.

Story (I copy and paste from internet) – Chapter 1 - 'SAYING GOODBYE IS THE HARDEST THING (DRACO/HERMIONE)’

CHAPTER 1

Draco Malfoy had been found out. He had stayed with the Weasley’s, his girlfriend Hermione and his friend Harry in The Burrow for weeks without Voldemort knowing anything. Draco Malfoy was a pureblood; hardly what seemed a good match for a Muggleborn, but sure enough, Hermione and Draco’s relationship had lasted for ages. Draco’s farther was a Death Eater for Lord Voldemort, so was his mum. They hadn’t known about Draco and Hermione until the week at the end of term. They refused to have Draco living in their home any longer, as he had been a traitor towards ‘The Dark Lord’ and was now supposedly dirty and untrustworthy in their eyes. Draco’s parents had told Lord Voldemort about this, he was furious and now on the look out for any chance to grab Draco and pull him away, force him to come back to the Dark Side, and if he refused, well, let him die! Draco had to leave The Burrow now, as it was the first place Voldemort would look to find him, but it was too much for Hermione.

CHAPTER 2

“Why do you have to go?” She cried into his shoulder, the day he had to leave, “Why now? I probably won’t ever see you again.”

“You know why Hermione.” Draco replied slowly, stroking the back on her hair with one hand, “I don’t want to go, but now Voldemorts after me, well, can you imagine if he found me.” Hermione burst into a new wave of tears as Mr Weasley came in.

“Ready Draco?” He said, “We’ll need to move quickly. Lupin just tipped me off that he’s seen a mysterious black cloud not that far from here, and the Death Mark.” He placed a hand on Hermiones shoulder and pulled her away from Draco. “Guys, we’re going now.” He called up the stairs. Harry and Ron came down quickly, followed by Fred and George, Ginny, Bill and Charlie.

“Good luck Draco!” Bill said, patting him on the back.

“Make sure you write and see us if you can!” Ginny told him.

“Just be careful, OK!” Harry nodded goodbye and Hermione let out a sort of scream and started crying this time on Harry’s shoulder. He patted her gently on the back.

“Well, bye then.” Draco half smiled and stepped out of the door, followed by Mr Weasley. He climbed into the back on the car and they set off towards London. Draco watched the house until only the turrets of the house could be seen, then he sat back in his seat and sighed deeply.

“I know what its like to leave home, Draco.” Mr Weasley said.

“S’not just that.”

“What is it? Hermione? Your other friends?”

Draco nodded. “Yes.” He said quietly, “Never thought I’d be the one on the run.” He forced a laugh.

“Yeah, for ages now Voldemort has just…totally ignored Harry’s existence. His new target is you. Traitory is a terrible thing Draco, even the Dark Lord knows that. But still, I suppose it’s made an improvement on Harry’s wisdom about him.” Mr Weasley paused, and looked into the back at Draco. He was sat very still staring out of the window.

“The Dark Marks above your house, Mr Weasley.”

“WHAT!” It wasn’t a question. Mr Weasley pulled his car round into the on coming traffic and parked quickly in the bus lane. “Oh god, NO!” He cried, jumping out of his car, followed quickly by Draco. The Dark Mark was indeed circling round the turrets of the Weasley’s family home; the misty green skull was suspended in the pitch-black sky. Mr Weasley’s face looked drained and his mouth was hanging open in shock. Draco could only think of one thing. Hermione.

“We’ve got to go back!” Draco said at once.

“No! No! You can’t! You’ll be killed and…” Mr Weasley paused. There was now thick grey smoke rising from the roof of the house.

“Come on! We’ve got to go! So what if I get killed. What about Hermione? Think of Molly!” Draco urged. Mr Weasley’s face turned whiter.

“I can’t afford to let Him get you!”

“I don’t care! I’d give my life for Hermione!” Draco’s voice grew weak from the smoke that was drifting over the city. “Come on Mr Weasley.” Draco begged, “Lets go back, please!” Mr Weasley nodded, his face was still white as they turned the car and sped back towards The Burrow.

CHAPTER 3

Hermione was screaming somewhere inside the house. Lucius Malfoy was having a fierce duel with Harry with Narcissa clapping her hands in glee every time Lucius managed to jinx Harry. Snape was battling the Weasley twins and Molly Weasley was screaming at them to come away. Bill and Charlie were sheltering in the small greenhouse, Ginny behind then, trying to fight off a female Death Eater with blonde curly hair and ruby red lips. Ron could be heard also in the burning house with Hermione, telling her to run. Arthur rushed over to his wife, now crying over Fred, who had been knocked out by Snape. Draco ran towards the house, ignoring the shouts and chaos behind him. The house was filled with grey smoke and the sound of crackling fire. Then, Draco heard Hermione scream followed by a loud thud above him in the bedroom. Draco rushed for the stairs; half dreading what may await him. Hermione was lay at a funny angle on her back at the top, Ron crouching over her with a black eye. His lip was also bleeding.

“What happened?” Draco asked quickly, unable to keep the urgency out of his voice.

“V…Voldemort.” Ron stuttered, “He came with his Death Eaters, set the place alight, Hermione was still up here, I came to get her…” His voice trailed away.

“He didn’t do…Avada Kedavra…did he?”

“N…no. But he knocked her out with something. She’s stone cold despite how hot it is in here!” The fire was slowly creeping around the house towards them, and Draco knew that if they wasted anymore time, they’d all die in here.

“C’mon!” He urged Ron, “Help me!” He grabbed Hermiones wrists and Ron grabbed her ankles. Hermione was heavier then she looked, but together, they managed to make it down the stairs and outside. Voldemort and his Death Eaters were gone. Fred was still unconscious and George, Mrs and Mr Weasley were pouring over him. Harry lay panting on the wet grass, a deep cut in his forehead. Ginny was rubbing her arms as she sat next to Harry, she had appeared finally from the greenhouse. Bill and Charlie were busy trying desperately to put out the house fire, and when the house lay smouldering, they went to work on comforting their mum. No one had noticed Hermione, Ron or Draco yet. They lay unnoticed until Ron went to get help for Hermione. Draco took this opportunity to bend over her, kiss her lips softly and prey for her to stir and wake up. She just lay there. Moments later, Ron came rushing back with Mrs Weasley, Ginny and Harry close at her heels.

“Oh my!” Molly squeaked, “That’s two.” She whispered quietly, “And we have no where to put the poor dears!” She wiped a tear away from her eye as she looked up at her home, totally wrecked and unrepairable.

CHAPTER 4

The Weasley’s had to stay in the house Draco was meant to be staying in, before the fire. Three days went by, Fred had woken up but Hermione just lay helpless in her bed, still cold and unconscious. Draco didn’t feel guilty about the house fire until Saturday night, after dinner. He was about to go up and see Hermione, but as he passed the Dinning Room, angry voices floated out.

“Yes! It’s his fault! My house, I grew up there, Arthur!”

“The boys not to blame, Molly. He didn’t mean this to happen. Anyway, if it hadn’t been for Draco going out with Hermione, Harry would have never found out about what Voldemort was planning to do. He would have died Molly!”

Draco froze. Did Molly Weasley, who had been so kind to him all this time, really think he intended the house to be burnt down? Did she also think he wanted Hermione to get hurt, and show no signs of ever waking up again?

“All my childhood memories…” Molly was still blabbering on.

“He is only 16. He doesn’t deserve this! You’re as good as a mother he’s got now, Molly. You can’t just abandon him like Narcissa did! Think how he’d feel!”

“He’s not my son!”

“Well imagine it was Ron, he’s the same age!”

Draco could not stand to hear anymore. He fled upstairs and into Hermiones bedroom, locking the door for refuge. He needed time to think. To sort out his head and his thoughts. He needed Hermione.

Draco must have sat there for hours, on the end of Hermiones bed, clutching her hand and thinking. She was still stone cold and had heavy, dark rings under her eyes. All the colour had drained from her face. She looked worse then death. Her skin had turned white and her fingers were so frail and thin, Ron swore that they were likely to snap off if you touched them. Draco was miserable. Hermione was going to die, he knew it. The unpleasant thought stayed in his head, refusing to disappear. A few times, Hermione had coughed slightly, and Draco had hoped that maybe, she might just open her eyes and wake up, but she never did. By midnight, all the family had been to Hermiones door, trying to persuade Draco to come down. Mrs Weasley was angry with him.

“How can you be so selfish to people?” she had snapped through tears, “While your in there, we’ll all out here and we can’t get in to see her because you locked the door…” And it continued like this, until Ginny had told her, rather reluctantly, to shut up and leave him in peace with Hermione. But even with everything quite, Draco feared someone was watching him. And on the third night of locking himself in with Hermione, his fears were confirmed. Draco was sat in his normal place, at the end of Hermiones bed, bending over her and crying softly into her long brown hair. A voice made him jump.

“Not nice to see someone dying, is it, Draco?”

CHAPTER 5

Draco spun round to see Lord Voldemort standing by the door, a pleased grin on his face. Draco felt neither afraid or worried. Voldemort had already as good as killed Hermione. Why didn’t he kill Draco now as well? Get it over with? Then, when Mrs Weasley decided to bombard the door down, she would only find two dead teenagers, lying side by side, hand in hand.

“Kill me then!” Draco was almost daring him to do it.

“But why waste your life Draco? Why through it all away? I can save her, I can help her, if only you’d come back to the Dark Side…” Voldemort was still wearing his smug grin.

“I’ll never come back!” Draco glared at him, “Not unless…”

“Well, Draco,” Voldemort continued, taking his wand out, “I’ll going to have to kill you, if you don’t decide…” Voldemort raised his wand. Draco shot a look at Hermione. She was dying. She would die, without help, she was a goner. Draco now looked up at Voldemort, and nodded. Voldemort smiled.

There was a flash of light and Draco felt himself getting weaker. He forte the urge inside him that was trying to get him to give up, but it was too strong. He fell onto the bed, exhausted.

When Draco finally woke up, he was still in Hermiones room, not on the same bed, as he’d remembered, but in a different one with Ginny peering at him.

She gave a sudden sheik and ran out of the room yelling, “HE LIVES! HE LIVES! HARRY, RON, DRACO’S ALIVE! MUM, DAD, COME QUICK!”

Draco sat up. He looked hopefully over at Hermione. She was still unconscious. He noticed the door had gone from her room and within seconds, people flooded in through the archway, rushing immediately to the side of his bed.

“How are you Draco?” Ginny asked, “We were all so worried!”

“I’m fine.” Draco said.

“You’d been in there for about four days, and you weren’t talking to us at all.” Harry explained.

“Yeah. Mum decided to break the door down.” Ron laughed.

Harry laughed to. “We came in, and well, Ginny screamed. She thought you dead, and then, came up with all these rumours that you’d probably poisoned yourself.” Ginny blushed.

“She’s seen too many Muggle reality shows!” Fred said, “But then Dad found a note pinned to the door…” George, who was also beside the bed fumbled around in his pocket. He read aloud.

“He said:

Dear helpless mortals…” (Ron snorted)

“The reason that Draco is dead is all down to me, Lord Voldemort. The stupid boy put up a fight in vain to save his beloved Hermione, so on and so on, I had no choice. But bare in mind, even if he does not die as I’ve planned, the girl will be next, you can count on that!

Yours sincerely,

The Dark Lord
Lord Voldemort
You-know-who
He-who-must-not-be-named
Tom Marverlo Riddle.”

George finished, slipping the note back into his pocket, “Stupid prat!” Draco looked stunned for a moment, then said, “Hermiones dead?”

“No.” Fred pulled a face but Harry shot a nervous look at Ron.

“Well, she is…d.. dying…you, know.” Ron said slowly.

“That’s a lie!” Draco snapped, not sure whether he believed his own words himself, “She can’t die.” His voice had become shaky and he blinked away tears, unable to think of the deal he had made with Voldemort.

“Sorry, mate.” Ron said, “But it’ll be a miracle if she pulls through.”

“Right c’mon. Let him rest guys. I’m sure he must be stressed out enough without you lot aggravating him.” Mrs Weasley had made her way over; George was rolling his eyes now and doing a silent impression of her yapping on to them. Ginny laughed.

CHAPTER 6

Draco couldn’t sleep. His mind kept shovelling worries up about Hermione.

‘The girl will die next, you can count on that!’

“Well, she is…d.. dying…you, know.”

“It’ll be a miracle if she pulls through.”

“I’m sure he must be stressed out enough without you lot aggravating him.”

Stressed out about what, Draco wondered? Did she mean over Hermione? Tears started to gather in his eyes again. What if the deal that he had made with Voldemort had been for nothing? What if she did die? What would he do? Would Mrs Weasley have been right? Would he end up having killed her because he refused Voldemorts offer to save her? At last, he drifted into an uneasy sleep, his mind still buzzing with answerless questions. His thoughts took him into a dark room. Voldemort stood in the corner, holding Hermiones limp body in his arms. He was crying. Draco was standing in the middle of the room, smirking, his wand held lazily in his hand. “You killed her!” Voldemort was saying, “You killed Hermione!” His voice changed into Mrs Weasley’s, saying the same thing over and over.

“NO!” Draco was now screaming, “NO NO NO!”

“Draco!” Ginny was shaking his shoulders. He could feel cold sweat running down his face. “Are you alright?” She asked. The Weasley Twins staggered into the room, both dressed in identical Pyjama’s.

“Wozgoinon?” Fred asked sleepily.

“Yea, who died?” George was yawning widely.

“Draco just had a bit of a bad dream.” Ginny told them over her shoulder, “Everything’s fine.” The twins turned and left the room.

“What’s up?” Harry voice could be heard down the hall.

“Who was screaming?” It was Ron, “What’d we miss.

“Something about nought!” The twins said together, as they ushered everyone back to bed.

“Are you really OK?” Ginny asked Draco again, “Really?”

“I’m fine Ginny.” He said slowly, muffling a yawn.

“You miss her don’t you?” Ginny face returned calm, “Hermione, you miss her?” Draco nodded.

“Look, that’s why I thought, you know that you’d….” Her voice trailed off to a whisper.

“Killed myself.” Draco finished, “I’d do anything for her.” Ginny smiled, leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead.

“Try and get some sleep.” she said, slowly getting up and exiting the room. Draco waited for her door to shut, then went over to Hermione side. Her face, normally so full of joy and happiness, was sad and turning blue rapidly. Her eyelids were heavy looking and she was still cold as ever. Draco took his usual position at the end of her bed. He picked up her hand and pressed his lips against it. Her face twitched slightly. He leant over her and whispered, “You can’t die Hermione, I don’t know what I’d do.” He kissed her grey, cold lips. Draco drew back suddenly. Had she just been kissing him back? He shook his head, thinking aloud, “No Draco, come on! Pull yourself together!” He shoved his head in his hands. Hermione stirred. She looked around, wondering where she was and caught sight of Draco. He hadn’t noticed her. Slowly, she reached out and placed her cold fingers on his arm. He jumped and stared at her. Her body was so weak, but her eyes.

“Hermione…” his words came out barely more then a whisper. Her body was so weak and helpless, and yet her eyes were strong and trusting. She pulled him down to her level, and kissed his lips gently.

“Can’t get rid of me that easily.” She told him. Draco laughed slightly, then returned her kiss. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and pulled him down beside her. Draco felt so happy, he didn’t care if the whole World could see him now, he just wanted to be alone with her, to stay with her forever and ever.

“Remind me to never leave your side again!” He laughed.

CHAPTER 7

The next day dawned, and everyone knew about Hermione’s recovery. Fred and George had been sneaking around in the early hours of the morning, setting dung bombs up around the house. They had crept past Hermione room, and seen Hermione asleep with her head on Draco’s chest, her hand clamped tightly around his. They laughed silently over it for a bit, then woke everyone up to tell them. They then spent the best part of the morning making up poems (“Because only total thick wits like you two would think up something as cruel as that!” Ginny had said, when she read one).

Hermione didn’t wake till midday, neither did Draco. When she did awake, she could hear Ginny shouting something offensive at Fred and George, and the clatter of tea trays downstairs. She guessed Mrs Weasley was making dinner. She woke Draco up abruptly.

“Wozgoinon!” he said sleepily, looking round.

“Its late.” She said, “We’ve slept through breakfast!” She was about to get up when Draco grabbed her wrist.

“Are you bothered?” He asked. Hermione caught the glimpse in his eye and giggled, but pulled away from him.

“Come on,” she said rather seriously, “I’m starving.”

Hermione and Draco made their way slowly down to lunch. Everyone was in the Dinning Room, talking excitedly and eating a full Sunday lunch, enjoying themselves.

“Hermione!” Harry had noticed her staring round the Dinning Room. Everyone looked up.

"Oh, how are you Hermione dear?” Mrs Weasley bustled over as usual, already worrying about Hermione again, “Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat? When did you wake up?”

“Um…fine, yes, yes, last night.” Hermione said plainly.

“Oh erm, sorry dear.” Mrs Weasley apologised, “I was just so worried about you!” She ushered Hermione into a chair, and Draco beside her. Meanwhile, the twins had started a chorus of “Olay!” and most people had joined in. Mrs Weasley piled heaps of chicken and potato onto Hermione plate in no time, and covered them deeply in thick warm gravy. Hermione grinned across the table at everyone. Mr Weasley was now trying to make a toast above the noise, Harry and Ron were trying to help Ginny who was chocking on a piece of chicken, and Fred and George were still singing aloud, Bill and Charlie were talking half-mindedly to Percy about The Ministry of Magic, but not really listening, and Mrs Weasley had finally sat down and was now helping herself to potatoes. Draco was beside Hermione.

“You OK?” He asked warily, “I mean really?”

“I’m fine.” She said smiling, “I’m fine.” She rubbed his hand gently with one finger, “When I’m with you, anyway.” She whispered. He smiled back at her. They were now looking into each other’s eyes.

“Hemhem!” Ron was staring at them like they had just said a disgusting swear word, “People trying to eat.”

“Oh sorry!” Hermione said sarcastically, “Do you want us to snog when you’ve finished?” Draco blushed. Ron looked gob struck, and even the twins had stopped singing to listen to the conversation.

Whoa! Too much info!” Fred said, looking rather disgruntled.

“Yeah.” George continued, ”We’re eating!”

“That’s exactly why I said,” Hermione was looking smug, “Do you want us to snog after dinner?” Ginny started to choke again.

CHAPTER 8

Just a short week after Hermione had gained consciousness, they were going back to school again. The 1st September dawned and only Draco was not looking forward to going back.

“What if people know what happened?”

“Oh Draco! Stop being so pathetic!” Hermione had tried to keep her patience with him all morning, but now, even she had reached her peak, “No one is going to care what happened to the Weasley’s house and what you have to do with it. Oh, that sounded really awful. I’m so sorry, Mrs Weasley!” Mrs Weasley was sitting rather stiffly at the other end of the table, she neither looked sad nor happy, but Hermione could tell that something was troubling her. She was going to ask before they set off, but Mr Weasley pushed her into the car before Hermione got a chance to open her mouth. She sat back next to Draco, thinking of the new year ahead. She heard Harry telling Ron how pleased he was to be going back, and Ginny was in the front seat talking to her dad about “Muggle Studies” at school, which thrilled him. Draco sighed.

“Now what?!” she asked impatiently, rolling her eyes.

“Nothing.” Draco lied.

“Honestly!” Hermione’s voice was strong, “You can tell me.” Draco looked into her eyes, they seemed so gentle and forgiving, but could he even bear to tell her what he wanted to.

“It’s nothing.” He pulled away from her gaze. Hermione sighed. He was being so secretive these days; she couldn’t help but notice that. Soon, they arrived in London. The busy streets were crowded with Muggles. Mr Weasley lead them towards Kings Cross, and when they arrived there, they all disappeared one by one through the platform wall. They were almost late, and quickly pulled themselves onto the train and grabbed a compartment. It wasn’t long before Harry started the subject Teachers, and wondered where his parents had stayed over the summer. Draco sat opposite Hermione, staring at the floor.

He didn’t say anything, just sat and listened. Hermione needed to know what was wrong. If she knew what he was thinking….

“Draco, I…I need to talk to you…privately.” She closed her eyes, preying that he’d answer her correctly.

“Right.” He replied glumly, after a while. Hermione stood up and seized his hand, and disappeared out of the door to find another compartment.

“Where are they going, d’you think?” Ginny asked.

“Dunno.” Harry said slowly, “But…” he grinned at Ron, who made a gagging sound in his throat.

“Probably!” Ginny replied with a laugh.

CHAPTER 9

Meanwhile, Hermione had found another compartment, and had already rushed Draco into explaining…

“Come on, please tell me whats wrong!” She pleaded.

“No.” Draco replied shortly, “You wouldn’t believe me, or kill me.

“Just tell me, I think you’ll find I can be very understanding.”

“Not with this.” Draco looked guilty, “You’d say I’d been stupid for you, but you don’t realise how much you mean to me…”

“Oh, yes I do!” Hermione grasped his chin in her hands and kissed his lips softly, “Tell me.” She pressed him on.

“Well, don’t think any less of me…” Draco broke away from her, trembling, “A few nights after you went into a coma, I was in your room, and Voldemort came. He said…he said that if I came back to the Dark Side he could save you…”

“Oh no, Draco, please don’t tell me! No!” Hermiones eyes had welled up with tears, fearing she already knew the answer.

“Yes Hermione. At first,” Draco paused, “I…I didn’t want anything to do with it, but, you just…I was scared you wouldn’t wake up…I was so worried about you…I…I just…” Draco closed his eyes and trembled, then slowly, he lifted up his left sleeve, “The old one,” He said, “Was wearing off a bit, but this one, this is new…” He hastily shoved his sleeve back down again as someone entered the compartment. Pansy Parkinson stood leering at them, behind her, her two best friends, Theodora Wavelet, also from Slytherin House and Serissa Sharvader, Hermiones worst enemy from Griffindor.

“Well well! If it isn’t Malfoy and Granger, pureblood and mudblood, ***** and double *****…” Pansy sneered.

“Took a bit of a liking to Draco, haven’t you, Granger!” Theodora was also smirking at her, “Risky. You never know, one day he might just…desert you…leave you…go to the Dark Side…” Hermione gulped and clutched Draco left arm, as though someone might try and rip it off at any moment.

“Bit touchy aren’t we?” Serissa’s laughed, her silvery-green eyes suddenly alight, “You like something about his left arm?”

“I bet she does!” Pansy said, then whispered something to her friends at which they sniggered.

“Why don’t you say that out loud Pansy!” Hermione snapped, letting hold of Draco’s arm and standing up threateningly.

“OK, maybe I will! Girls…”

“He’s a traitor…” Serissa pointed out.

“Been over to the Dark Side…” Theodora said.

“Talked a bit to The Dark Lord…” Serissa continued.

“And made a deal with him!” Theodora started grinning. Draco made a grab for his left sleeve, but he was too slow. Pansy whipped it up.

“If that’s not the Dark Mark, Granger, I don’t know what is!” she said, pointing at the snake on Draco’s arm, “C’mon girls. I wanna go before I get Mudblood Disease!”

Hermione lunged at her, and slammed into the door. She heard Pansy cackling outside, “Too bad Granger, look like your locked in now! No ‘Allohomoera’ spell can get you out of there!” Serissa and Theodora broke into a fit of mad high-pitched giggles.

“Lets go tell Potter!” Theodora squeaked.

CHAPTER 10

“They’ve been a while.” Harry said, as he stared out at the blackening sky.

“Yeah. Hey whats that?” Ginny looked puzzled. There was a distant sound of shouting and someone banging loudly on a piece of metal. Ron was about to reply when Pansy and her little troop walked in, smug looks on their faces.

“You wanna know something?” Serissa laughed.

“It’s really good!” Theodora was still laughing too.

“Draco’s back with the Dark Side.” Pansy burst out, then put on a babyish voice, “Bwoke Hermiones wittle heart, it did!”

“Get lost Pansy!” Ginny scowled at her.

“Ooohhhh! Get you!” The triplet squealed.

“Very amusing!” Ron said, a look on his face that suggested there was a very bad smell under his nose.

“It’s true!” Theodora said matter-of-factly.

“Yeah, that’s right Potter!” Pansy shrieked “He’s gonna be back, and more powerful, the Dark Lord will rise again!” And as quickly as they came, the little group left again.

“Don’t listen, Harry.” Ginny told him, “Their trying to wind you up.”

“Pansy, you obnoxious cow, you better let us out of here now!” Hermione was screaming and pelting on the door of the compartment in some vain attempt to escape. It was failing.

“I wish you’d shut up, you filthy little Mudblood!” Pansy was back.

“Yeah, you might give us all Mudblood Disease. It might carry in the wind!” Theodora was laughing again.

“I swear Pansy, when I get out there, I will kill you!” Hermione kicked the door angrily.

“Temper, temper!” Serissa mocked laughing. There was a sudden out burst of very colourful language from Hermione.

“Miss Granger!” Professor McGonagall barked, “I hope you do not intend to keep on using those words in front of these first years!”

“Sorry Professor.” Hermione said sulkily. McGonagall unlocked the door. Hermione dived on top of Pansy, who started shrieking again.

“Get off me, you filthy Mudblood!”

“I said I was gonna kill you Pansy!” Hermione now had hold of Pansy hair, trying furiously to pull it out. A number of people had gathered round and were eager for the fight to continue.

“Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!” they chorused. Professor McGonagall was trying desperately to shut them up, and stop the war zone at the same time. Even Theodora and Serissa were standing back watching.

“I’m not risking my neck cos’ of Granger!” Theodora whispered to her friend.

A few of the other teachers had come down to help now, and most of the students had come to watch, including Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny.

“Poke her in the eyes, Hermione!” Ron was shouting.

“Yeah, go on Hermione!” Ginny was also cheering, “Oh, that’s gotta hurt!” She added, as Hermione gave Pansy a fierce whack, and burst her lip.

“Her-mion-e! Her-mion-e! Her-mion-e!” There was something about that voice that Harry recognised. He looked up from the fight. Sure enough, Cho Chang and her friends where stood on the outskirts of the action cheering. The teachers were still trying to move the crowds back, when…

“SILENCE!” Faith Whitby, who had been made Head Girl from Ravenclaw, was stood wide-eyed staring at the vicious fight, “What in Gods name do you think your all playing at?” The train went deadly silent. Even Pansy took to punching Hermione in silence. Faith was a large girl with black hair, streaked with pale ginger. Quite easily, she bent down a scooped Hermione up in her right arm, ignoring her fights for freedom.

“Yes thank-you, Miss Whitby.” Professor McGonagall said, sounding embarrassed and going slightly pink. “Now can we all return to our compartments!”

“No, no, no, no, no, Professor.” It was the first time Hermione had heard even Pansy answer back to a teacher, “You see, someone here has once again joined the Dark Side.” Pansy was looking smug; Hermione was shaking her head frantically. “Yes Hermione. I think now we tell them, tell them all, right here, in front of everyone…”

“Are you saying that Miss Granger is a Death Eater, Miss Parkinson?” McGonagall interrupted her, a disbelieving look on her face.

“Not Hermione!” Pansy smiled, very pleased with herself, “But Draco!” A few people gasped, others looked round worriedly at him, Hermione let out a scream and collapsed on Harry shoulder like she always did, sobbing away. Draco slunk away quickly, keeping his head down. But he couldn’t hide the whispers that followed him.

“Come back, Mr Malfoy!” McGonagall bellowed.

Serissa and Theodora had broke down into a fit of giggles.

“Calm down, girls!” Pansy said in a mock voice, “It’s very serious!” Then she too burst out laughing. Draco made his way slowly back through the crowds of anxious students.

“Come with me.” McGonagall said very slowly, as though he might not understand her properly now. People watched them disappear down the corridor, Hermione started crying even harder.

CHAPTER 11

Professor McGonagall opened the compartment door.

“Mr Malfoy is up the top end of the train.” She said, suspiciously eyeing up Hermione, who was now crying on Ron’s shoulder. “You can go if you like Miss Granger, but I warn you, you must be wary…”

“I don’t think he wants to kill me Professor.” Hermione looked up, red eyed. Cho uttered a small gasp at Hermiones cheek.

“He is still a Death Eater.” McGonagall raised her eyebrow.

“He wanted to save me!” Hermione snapped crossly. She got up and pushed past McGonagall out onto the corridor. The train rocked slowly under her feet. She felt so tired. She felt she had been fighting a losing battle all day, like the whole World was against her and her lover. She wished for a miracle, but none came. Hermione made her way slowly down to the end of the corridor. Outside the furthest one away, stood Pansy, Theodora and Serissa. They started singing at once.

“Granger, Granger, filthy Mudblood Granger, can’t keep a lid on her boyfriends either!”

Hermione felt her anger gather inside her. Before she could stop herself, she turned to Pansy and hit her. Pansy stumbled backwards, clutching her cheek were Hermione had slapped her. A few people were again looking out of their compartments and cheered Hermione. She turned round again and knocked on the compartment door.

“Draco, are…are you in there? It’s me. Hermione.”

The door slid open slowly. Draco was sitting on the seat nearest the window, staring out at the black sky.

“Hi.” Hermione said slowly. He looked up at her slightly. He could tell she was nervous.

“I just couldn’t bare to see you go.” He said, “I want to be with you, always.” Hermione bit her lip, then rushed into his arms, crying again.

“I’m sorry.” She wept, “I was just so scared when I found out. And then with Pansy and her friends…” Her voice trailed off. They sat for ages in silence after that. It was only when the train stationed at Hogwarts that Hermione decided she better change into her robes. She cursed herself for thinking that Draco would ever betray her, and go back to the Dark Side. He had done it because he loved her, no other reason.

CHAPTER 12

Hermione stayed behind with Draco and watched students pile off the train, first years making their way over to Hagrid who was calling them as usual. Hermione glanced a look at Draco. He was stood, quite white, by the compartment door, not looking out of the window like she was. He didn’t blink, just stared blankly at the wall in front of him.

“Come on.” Hermione said finally, “The train’ll leave again soon. We better get to the feast.”

“Can’t we just go back to London, back home?” Draco looked up at her.

“W…why?”

“Hermione, I don’t wanna go back.” Draco closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them they were glistening with what seemed to be tears. “I don’t think I would be able to bear it.”

“Oh come on!” Hermione was trying to be sympathetic, “We’ve got to go back, Draco. I mean, we’ve got our NEWTS this year. If we don’t go in, we’ll fail. Do you really want that?”

Draco muttered something to quite for Hermione to hear. She put her hand on his arm gently.

“Look, I know you’d do anything for me,” She said, “Would you come back into school for me?”

Draco looked up at her. The whistle blew; the train was about to set off again. Hermione sighed.

She turned away from him and grabbed her luggage, and made for the door. Draco sat there silently for a while.

“Wait Hermione!” He called suddenly, also grabbing his luggage and following her outside.

Draco sat with his back to the rest of the Common Room, facing the fire. Hermione hadn’t dared sit next to him and curl up on his knee until the early hours like she normally did. She didn’t even try to comfort him. Harry and Ron were being a bit vague with him too. A few times when they had looked up, they simply smiled very faintly and looked back down at their books. Draco could also tell the rest of the Gryffindor pupils were keeping their distance, like he might jump up and attack them at any time. It was only Ginny who seemed to be able to find it in herself to show him some support.

“Don’t worry.” She said, rubbing his arm softly with her fingertips. He jerked it away from her and turned his back on her. Ginny had forgotten it was his left arm that bared The Dark Mark.

“Sorry.” She inched herself closer to him again, “It’ll be aright. Hermione still…”

“Loves me, yeah, she’s told me.” Draco snapped, turning round to face Ginny again. His eyes seemed angry.

“Look, she’s just…Hermiones just a bit uncomfortable at the minute.” Ginny bit her lip unsurely, “She’s just a bit nervous around you. I mean, no offence, but I would be too…if…if…you know.”

Draco shook his head, and with an angry look at Ginny again, he got up and headed for the portrait hole, people scrambling out of his way as he passed them. He dashed outside and sat, trembling, by the lakeside. Did Ginny think he was some kind of evil thing now? Was Hermione going to spend her free time avoiding him and pretending she’d never known him, or gone out with him? A single pale tear ran down his face. Ever since he’d met Hermione, and got to know her properly, he’d changed somewhat. He was no longer cruel, thoughtless, and as Harry had once said, pathetic, or, he hoped not. He seemed to spend all his time crying nowadays though. He shook his head miserably and stared out at the lake.

CHAPTER 13

The sun was just begging to set by the time Hermione came to find him. She was wearing a satin mini nightdress with a long shawl wrapped round her shoulders and cream slippers.

“Are you coming in yet?” She said. Draco looked at her. She was shivering in the cold wind.

“In a bit.” Draco said slowly, smiling and standing up. He took off his cloak and wrapped it around Hermiones shoulders. “You look cold. You should go back in.”

Hermione shook her head. “Only if you do.”

“Come on Hermione. I told you I didn’t want to go back.” He pulled her towards him, and steered her towards the large Oak tree. “Plus, you were ignoring me. Hardly what I call friendly.”

“Sorry.” Hermione mumbled, looking at the ground, and taking his Draco’s arm from around her waist. “I just…people might talk…”

Draco sighed and sat down, leaning against the tree. Hermione was staring at him, her eyes glistening with crystal-like tears. Draco grasped her hand suddenly and pulled her down onto his lap, embracing her in his arms and stroking her hair gently. She gave a shaky sigh, and leaned against him. Then kissing his cheek softly she said, “Don’t worry. I will always love you, no matter what. How much d’you love me? I know you were obviously willing to suffer for me but…I don’t know, I just wonder…”

Draco laughed quietly. “With all my heart.” He said.

“Really?”

CHAPTER 14

“More then that.”

Hermione smiled and turned Draco’s head towards her. Slowly, she pulled him down to her lips and kissed him again. That single kiss got deeper but at last, she pushed him off her.

“C’mon,” she said, “It’s getting dark. We should get back.” She linked hands with him and together they walked back up to the castle.

Near the Oak tree, in the grounds, there is a large hedge of rose bushes, which are very high and thick, and anyone could hide and not be found behind them for ages. It so happened that some people were hiding behind them, watching through small gaps in the hedge, watching Hermione and Draco. Behind the rose bushes, a small group of Death Eaters sat discussing.

“It is, in a way, rather sweet that Draco has finally found someone who is just as lowlifed as him.” Amycus said, but Narcissa gave out a sheik.

“My son is not a lowlife!” She said, very very slowly, through gritted teeth.

“But Granger is.” Fenrir Greyback insisted.

“Exactly!” Amycus looked triumphantly at Narcissa, “If Draco see’s fit to go off and hang around with filthy muggleborn Mudbloods, then he’s as good as one.”

“If you are saying that my son is a nasty, dirty Mudblood, then you are calling me and Luci…” Narcissa was cut short.

“They’ve just entered the school.” Lucius’s head emerged from the rose bush beside Fenrir, “If we go now and go quickly, we will be able to reach them before they get to the Common Room.”

“Excellent plan.” Snape had also emerged from the bush, “Just make it clear, Lucius, I stay here. I cannot touch the boy. If you don’t already know this, some time ago, Narcissa and me made the Unbreakable Vow, and I have to look after Draco for as long as I live. I trust you know the rules of the vow?” Narcissa winced and turned away from her husband.

“No. I didn’t know that, thank you for enlightening me.” Lucius snarled, throwing a dirty look at Narcissa.

“Is Severus staying here then, Lucius?” Fenrir asked.

Lucius shook his head. “He’ll come. Remember through, Severus cannot touch the boy, and our task is to find him, and then Amycus, you shall perform the killing curse.”

“NO!” Narcissa screamed. “Lucius, you only said we were going to find him and bring him back with us. You said nothing about killing him. He’s my son! He’s our son! You want to kill him!”

“The Dark Lord wants him dead, Narcissa, he is a threat to The Dark Side, and befriending Potter…” Lucius’s jaw tightened.

“Quite right so.” Amycus cheered.

“I do love a good killing!” Fenrir said, grinning.

“Maybe, if I may point out,” Severus Snape spoke up, “That killing Draco would not be a good idea. I can hardly imagine any farther ordering to have his son killed. It would look at bit suspicious, wouldn’t it?”

“Look at Barty Crouch. Sent his son to Azkaban.” Lucius shook his head, “Don’t tell me you are sticking up for the boy, after last year?”

“He’s my son!” Narcissa was shouting.

“He was being somewhat faithful, Lucius.” Snape insisted.

“He was being untrue to his real life!” Amycus declared.

“Severus!” Narcissa begged, “You’ll help me? You’ll help me save Draco? My son?”

Snape stared at her for a few moments, “I despise Potter, but killing Draco would be a waste of a good wizard, not to mention put a risk at the number of Purebloods left in the World.”

“So you’ll help?” Narcissa had broken down into tears.

“Yes.”

“Traitor!” Fenrir roared, “Filthy, ruddy, half cast traitor!”

“Its an outrage!” Amycus shouted.

“Lucius!” Narcissa was begging again, “Come with us. You can’t do this, he’s our son!”

CHAPTER 15

“And these are The Dark Lords orders!” Lucius snapped.

“So forget him! Come with me, Lucius. Please!” Narcissa was desperate, “Our only son!”

“I REFUSE!” Lucius roared turning his back sharply on her, and swept away down the side of the bushes, Amycus and Fenrir following closely. “In a week.” He said quietly to them.

Back at the castle…

The Common Room had emptied. Hermione and Draco entered, they hands still intertwined.

“I wish things were how they used to be.” Hermione said quietly.

“You mean me calling you a Mudblood everytime we met on either side of the corridor?” Draco laughed.

“To how things were last year. It was the easy way around things, I guess now, it’ll be a lot harder.”

“Only the first day back and already I’ve had enough stares to last a lifetime.”

“Still, we’ll get through it together.” Hermione wrapped her arms around Draco.

“And if we don’t, and it goes wrong?”

Hermione stroked the side of his arm with one finger, “I’m not thinking about that yet…”

She smiled and kissed him lightly, and he returned it more deeply. Hermione could have stood there, wrapped up in Draco’s warm arms safely, forever, but she knew the time would come soon that he might have to leave her for good. Hermione allowed herself to be pushed backwards onto the double suite next to her, her lips never moving from Draco’s. The next thing she knew, complete exhaustion had washed over her, and she was curled up in a warm ball…

CHAPTER 16

Hermione woke to the sound of chatting and Ginny’s voice.

“OK, Hermione’s finally woken from the dead! Hazar!”

Hermione opened her eyes properly and sat bolt upright. It was morning and most of the Gryffindor students had come down.

“Nice sleep, Hermione?” Ron teased.

“Nothing happened!” She protested, rubbing her eyes. She was curled up on Draco’s lap, her hand still clutching one of his and his other on her waist.

“Sure, Hermione. Whatever you say.” Harry said grinning.

“U’all Hermione!” Katie Bell asked mockingly, sitting herself down next to Hermione.

Ginny laughed, “The whole Common Room knows. Draco woke up way before you did.”

Hermione glanced up. Draco was already awake, his grey eyes a great deal more alive then they had been the previous morning.

“And,” Ginny added, “No one thinks Draco’s out to get you any more.”

“Yeah, everyone voted this morning.” Harry said.

“Quite funny really.” Ginny commented, “The only person who swore black was blue that he was conning you was…”

“Me!” Serissa Sharvader had just come back down from the Dormitories.

Hermione groaned.

“Fancy that. Death Eater Draco and his little Mudblood Hermione kipping out in the Common Room together, wait till Pansy hears!” Serissa continued, smirking.

“I don’t give a **** what Pansy thinks, Serissa.” Draco glared at her, “And as for Death Eater Draco, imagine what he could do with the Dark Arts all on his side…”

Serissa’s face dropped. She scowled once more before sweeping out of the Common Room, her blonde curtain of hair bouncing on her shoulders.

Ginny started to laugh, breaking the following silence.

“Stupid cow.”

“Yeah,” Vicky Morris, a third yearer, said, wandering over, “I mean, yesterday on the train was a bit scary but…”

“At least he’s got the common sense not to brag about things like that.” One of her friends had also come over.

“Pansy Parkinson was talking about it that Theodora yesterday at the feast.” Vicky continued, shrugging.

“How d’you know?” Ron asked suddenly.

Vicky and her friend smirked, “Your brothers joke shop is very good.”

CHAPTER 17

The lesson before break had been Potions. Draco, Harry, Ron and Hermione walked from the classroom, Pansy and her gang of Slytherin girls behind.

“I wish Umbridge would come back.” She said very loudly.

“Yeah, she’s such a good teacher.” Serissa commented.

“Not like the Potters. They’re all crap…”

“And I wish you’d just shut your mouth!” Hermione shouted, turning back, “But is there any chance in any of our wishes?”

Draco and Harry exchanged ‘grab-her-now’ glances and hurtled forwards, grabbing her arms and pulling her back.

Pansy laughed cruelly.

“What’s up Draco, bit stressed?” Theodora sneered.

“Watch your mouth!” Hermione glared at her.

Pansy winked at her friends, who all grinned and wandered off. Pansy walked, pushing Hermione out of the way, in front of Draco.

“Nice selection of friends you’ve got there, Draco. Let me see: Weasel, Scarhead, Mudblood, oh and China Girls usually around, and then you.” She smiled coldly.

“Get lost Pansy.” Draco turned his back on her, but she ran after him.

“Don’t think I don’t know about it, Serissa told me everything.”

“Well, Serissa’s, as Ginny said, a stupid cow.”

“Yeah, well done. I know what you think of all my other friends too!”

“What? I never told you anything.”

“I think you forget Draco, I’m a superb Occlumentist.”

“Yeah, but I really don’t care.”

“You will. I know what happened that night when you were seven.”

Draco stopped.

“And I’m going to make you relive that day again right now. Come on!” Pansy smirked and pulled Draco off by the arm to the Room of Requirement. She pushed him inside and turned back to the others, “Yeah, sorry, you can’t come in.” She sneered.

CHAPTER 18

Hermione, Harry and Ron had waited outside the Room of Requirement for him all break and were only to glad when he emerged. However, tears stained his pale checks, his eyes were no longer alive as they had been earlier. Hermione cast an anxious glance after him and hurried up quickly, and her, Harry and Ron followed him down to the lake.

“Draco?” Hermione sat down next to him, “You OK?”

He looked at her, then stared back at the lake.

“That snake of Voldemorts was there,” he said quietly, “And Pansy knows the truth about my sister…”

“Draco, you don’t have a sister.” Hermione said, rather worried.

“I did.” He replied grimly, “She died when she was five, Chloe.”

“What happened?”

“I was seven.” Draco said slowly, “Chloe was five and there was a huge house fire. Pansy’s mum, Abrail, was to blame. She considered herself The Dark Lords truest and most loyal servant. When everyone thought Voldemort was dead after he failed to kill Harry, he was still out there, seeking out more followers. Abrail told him about our family, he came, demanding we go to The Dark Side. Farther refused, so he told Abrail to set the house alit, hoping we’d all die. Mum got me out of my room, but she forgot Chloe was asleep and left her there in the flames. By the time she’d remembered, it was too late…”

CHAPTER 19

“Draco was only seven.” Pansy was stood behind them, “He didn’t realise what was going on. I only knew the lies my mother forced down my throat, about it being for a good cause.”

“See, after that, Voldemort forced my parents to The Dark Side, he said otherwise he would kill me too.”

Hermione whimpered.

“But then, why are your parents friends with Abrail?” Harry asked, throwing Pansy a grudging look.

Draco sighed, “My and Pansy were best friends.”

“Even I objected my mothers stupidness when I found out.” Pansy said quietly, “That’s why I feel sorry for you, Granger, ‘cos I know that one day, Draco will be taken away from you, I know that one day, he’ll meet the same sticky end as his sister did, and I do care about it.”

“So help me.” Draco said suddenly, looking up at Pansy.

“I can’t.”

“You said it yourself, we were best friends, and you do care about it, so why not?”

“I’m sorry.” Pansy mumbled, shaking her head slightly and staring at the ground, “I just can’t.”

Draco stood up suddenly, and started to make his way quickly back to the castle.

“Draco…” Pansy sighed, following after his, “Please!”

Pansy pushed Draco backwards into the broom cupboard.

“Look, Draco, I would like to help you, but I can’t. Mum thinks I’m getting too friendly with you again.”

“Is that right, well…what?” Draco looked puzzled.

“It’s crazy. I’m still being rather pathetic about the whole thing. You know how much I like you, I guess that’s why I hated you so much when you went off with Granger.” Pansy explained, blushing.

Draco sighed and leant forward, his face in his hands, thinking. He looked up. Pansy was very close to him, too close in fact. He could feel her warm breath on his cheek. She moved closer, her lips brushing against his gently. Draco broke away.

“Sorry,” He said, “I’ve got to go.”

CHAPTER 20

Draco didn’t turn up for dinner, or the next three lessons. When Hermione, Harry and Ron reached the Common Room that night, he wasn’t there either, and Harry said the next day he wasn’t in the boy’s dorm. Hermione preyed she would see him at breakfast, but he wasn’t there. Hermione preyed she would find someone who had seen him, but no one had. And by the end of that day, she was more miserable then ever. She paced slowly around the Common Room, wringing her hands.

“What if Voldemorts got him?”

A couple of people sitting close by looked up suddenly. Vicky Morris dropped her quill and her inkpot feel onto the floor, splattering ink up her robes and up the side of the chair. Her friend started to choke on a Pumpkin Pasty.

“Yeah, Hermione!” Ginny said sarcastically, “Like he’s really gonna run into the school, grab Draco and run off again.

Hermione muttered a swear word at Ginny under her breath, and continued to pace.

“What if…”

“HERMIONE!” Ron, Harry and Ginny shouted together.

“Shut up!” Ron said.

“We’ve had enough of your ranting and raving.” Harry declared.

Ginny nodded, “If anything bad happens to him, we’ll come run and help you, OK, but until then, just stay put…”

“How can I stay put, Ginny!” Hermione screamed, causing more people to turn and stare, “The love of my life is gone and I don’t know whether I’ll ever see him again!”

“Chill Hermione! Lets just chill.” Dean Thomas laughed from across the room.

Hermione glared at him, “I’m going to bed.”

She grabbed her bag from the side of her abandoned chair and pressed her fingers to her forehead as she climbed the stairs. People had told her not to stress about Draco, that he would be fine, but little did they know how much Hermione did have to panic…

CHAPTER 21

“You said in a week!” Narcissa cried.

“I changed my mind.” Lucius replied coolly.

“But you can’t!”

“I can’t, Amycus can. The Dark Lord has ordered him.”

“He’s my son! He’s my only son!”

“I am pretty clear who he is Narcissa.”

“Then let him live! Have you forgotten Chloe?”

There was an uncomfortable silence; only Narcissa’s sobs could be heard.

“I haven’t forgotten Chloe.” Lucius said quietly.

“It was because of The Dark Lord that she died, Lucius! Please!”

“And maybe you have forgotten too, Draco was going to be killed anyway…”

“Which is why we said we’d join! What was the point in joining to stop him from dying if we’re going to kill him now?”

“Narcissa, I don’t think you realise the consequences if we disobey The Dark Lord…”

“Of course I do!”

“Then we have no choice.”

“I would rather die!”

“Should we kill her then too, Lucius?” Fenrir asked, stepping into the room.

“All in good time, Fenrir, all in good time.” Lucius turned away from Narcissa, “For now, the boy…”

“NO!”

“Narcissa, if you do not shut up I will do it my personal self!”

Narcissa whimpered, and drew back against the wall as Lucius and Fenrir left. Draco, her only son, would soon be killed under the hands of her husband…

“Tell us whats going on at Hogwarts!” Amycus demanded.

“No. I would have thought you would have known, having bloody spies hanging around everywhere!” Draco glared at him from the chair in which he was sat, bound tightly with ropes.

“Well maybe the boy needs helped loosening his tongue.” Fenrir suggested greedily. Amycus grinned and nodded.

“Sectumsempra.”

A large gash appeared in the side of Draco’s face. He winced slightly.

“Talking yet?” Amycus demanded with a sneer.

“I’ll never say anything.”

“Very well. Sectumsem…” Amycus began.

“NO, you ca…” Narcissa barged through the door, her wand held high in her shaking hand.

“What did I tell you about interfering Narcissa?” Lucius clamped his hand over her mouth from behind, preventing her from saying any more of her sentence.

Narcissa wriggled about, her words muffled, her wand still in her hand.

“Take her wand.”

CHAPTER 22

A cold voice from the shadows made them all jump. Voldemorts eyes flashed a dangerous red.

“My Lord, please,” Narcissa begged, clutching her wand a little tighter, “He’s my only son, please!”

“I have no intention to kill him, if he provides me with adequate information…” Voldemort paused and stared at Draco, “Will you provide information?” He asked coolly.

Draco stared back at him. It took him longer to answer this question then it had before. Voldemort lips began to form a smile, but it faded quickly when Draco shook his head.

“Very well,” Voldemort said, this time a little too coolly, “I shall find another more…successful way of retrieving information on Dumbledore, and Potter.” He smiled nastily at Draco, and waved his arm towards the next room, “Put him in there.” Amycus and Fenrir untied Draco and pulled him into a dark, dull room, with bare stonewalls. The only things in the room were a large metal cage and a small round wooden table. They looked as if they hadn’t been used in the last century.

Amycus pushed Draco forward, his wand to his back, and into the cage. Draco fell onto the hard floor, blood still gushing out of his wound.

“That should teach you a few lessons,” Amycus sneered, “After a few days…”

“Should we teach him some more?” Fenrir said, a greedy look emerging eyes.

“Oh yes, I wonder if there are only good spells for faces. Just look at his piggy little eyes.”

Amycus laughed.

“I think we should not try and disfigure him anymore.” Fenrir said coldly.

“Good point. SECTUMSEMPRA!”

“DECLISMA!”

And total blackness…

“Look, he’s missing, he hasn’t been here for four whole days, Voldemorts got him, I’m scared, please help me.” Hermione begged, and closed her eyes. She could hear Scarlet playing with her toys on the floor a little way from her. Lily lent over her desk, looking straight at Hermione, her fingers together forming a neat triangle.

“What evidence do you have?” She asked quietly.

Hermiones eyes fluttered open, filled with crystal-like tears.

“W…what evidence? He’s not here!” She screamed, and Scarlet turning to watch, entranced.

“Not like that.” Lily said patiently, “What evidence do you have to say Voldemorts got him?”

Hermione burst into tears, “I know he’s got Draco, you don’t know what its like, I love him, I don’t want to lose him!”

Lily nodded, and shook her head at the same time, “I do know what its like Hermione, but I’m sorry, I cannot put you at danger if there is nothing to be in danger for…”

Hermione let out a miserable shriek of despair, “I’m going one way or the other! And don’t try to stop me!” jumped up, and ran to the door, slamming it shut behind her.“Is she angry with you mummy?” Scarlet asked from the floor.

Lily sighed, “She’s just upset dear, just upset.” But she bit her lip, afraid that Hermione might be caused to do something drastic.
