CHAPTER 12

As Narcissa Malfoy opened the door, and they both stared at each other in shock, the Weasleys came inside and watched the fancy chandeliers and tiled floors, Hermione got up to greet them. But Draco sat still. Fred and George were the first to come in and as soon as they spotted Draco, they collapsed next to him, each at his side.

“Hello mate,” said George.

“Like the present, it’s a truth-telling potion, don’t know the name, stole it from Snape. He says it’s very rare, so we stole it, got loads at home.” asked Fred.

“Loved it,” he said simply, still thinking about what had happened.

“Did you like the love letter Ron had sent you?” asked George laughing.

Draco couldn’t help but laugh. He had a perfect chance to humiliate Ron about writing that letter.

Mrs. Weasley then stood in front of him, obviously happy he was wearing the sweatshirt. “Aw, it looks adorable,” she hugged him and kissed his forehead. That made Ron sick. His mother was kissing his enemy.

“Thank you Mrs. Weasley, I loved it,” he said, fully ignoring that a Weasley had just kissed him.

Mrs. Weasley blushed and sat down in one of the couches, while the others did the same.

“Woah,” said Ginny pointing to the necklaces around Hermione’s neck. “Where on earth did you get that?”

“This lovely handmade necklace is from you,” she complimented.

“It looks like rubbish compared to the other one,” added Ron nastily.

“No it doesn’t,” she replied, trying not to hurt Ginny’s feelings.

“Who gave it to you?” asked Ginny, ignoring the comment, causing Draco to listen to the conversation.

“One of my muggle friends,” she replied.

Then Draco butted in the conversation. “Weasley, I didn’t know you fancied me. I loved your love letter,” he joked, causing Ron to turn red from embarrassment.

“It wasn’t a love letter,” said Harry.

“Oh, then I get it, you were trying to propose to me,” he said, causing Fred and George to like him even more. Ginny even giggled under her breath.

“Mum made me,” he said, still embarrassed.

“Stop fighting,” said Hermione, which reminded him of what had happened. So he stopped and continued his thoughts.

“You’re going to let Ms. Know-it-all tell you what to do?” asked Fred.

“If it were any other time, I wouldn’t. But now, if you would follow me to the potions room, we could whip up something to put in his dinner pumpkin juice,” he said as he stood up. The twins smiled evilly and followed him. Draco was trying to get as far away from Hermione as possible.

At dinner, they turned Ron’s skin pink and had a nice laugh. Their mothers scolded them, of course, but they agreed it was worth it.

But Draco and Hermione couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened between them.

After the Weasleys had left, Draco glanced at Hermione. She glanced back. They couldn’t talk to each other. They were too shy.

“It never happened,” he said simply. She nodded.

The day before the end of the holiday, Hermione decided to go the library and educate herself with a book. She chose one and fixed her eyes on it.

“What are you doing here?” asked the voice of Draco.

Reading,” she replied, not taking her eyes from the book.

“You couldn’t live without books,” he said as he scanned the spines of the books and took one out. She ignored him. He sat down across from Hermione and began reading.

“I guess you-being-nice is over tomorrow,” she started. He nodded. “Just like that,” she added.

“I have a question to ask you,” he said as he took the Glarer from his pocket. “Who do you see?”

Hermione looked inside and saw Sirius Black smiling at her. She didn’t want to tell him, since he still believes that Sirius is a murderer on the loose, and said, “Why do you want to know?”

“Just curious,” he replied, “Well?”

“I see Cedric Diggory,” she lied. It was the only other person she can think of that she misses at the moment.

“You know, friends don’t lie to friends,” he said, insinuating that she’s lying.

“I thought we were ‘pretend’ friends.”

“Come on, do you honestly think that this is a pretend friendship. I find it hard to believe that it’s just a friendship,” he admitted. “So, the truth, who do you see?”

“I can’t tell you. You wouldn’t believe it if I did anyway.”

“Try me,” he said standing from across her sitting next to her.

“No, I can’t. I won’t.”

“You know, I could keep a secret.”

“It’s not that.”

“Well, would you tell your friends? At least tell me that. Give me a hint. Come on!”

Hermione couldn’t believe herself, she actually thought about telling him. “No,” she said after a pause.

“Why not?”

“I have a better question, why do you want to know so badly.”

“I can’t stand people keeping secrets from me. Now answer mine.”

“Because if I did, it could mean Azkaban,” she answered, which sounded ridiculous to Draco.

“Does it have anything to do with the Dark Lord?” She nodded. She felt she was telling him too much, “Does it have anything to do with my father?” She nodded. “Everything concerning my father concerns me. Tell me!”

“I’m sorry, but I already told you too much.”

“Listen Gran… I mean Hermione; you know more about my father than I do! I want to know m ore about him and how he works for the respected Dark Lord. I want to know what kinds of deeds he does. I want to know how close he was to killing you. I want to know more. I will not tell the minister, whatever it is. Besides, if I wouldn’t believe you, he wouldn’t either. You are the only one who could tell me about my father’s deeds, and if not today than never! Tell me, I beg of you,” he pleaded.

After a pause, she finally said, “I see Sirius Black.”

She then told him everything she knew about Lucius, about how he gave Ginny Riddle’s diary and how he almost killed her. She told him about when Harry was in the graveyard, and saw Lucius as one of the Death Eaters. She told him about how his father had threatened to kill her and her friends if Harry didn’t give him the prophecy. She told him about how Sirius was innocent and how they had helped him escape and how he fought Lucius right before he was killed by Bellatrix.

Draco hated the thought that maybe the Dark Lord would come to him and ask him to be a Death Eater. He hated the thought that his father threatened to kill her and her friends and he almost killed Ginny Weasley. The words coming out of Hermione’s mouth were a shock. He actually felt a bit of hate for his father. He looked inside the Glarer and the image of his father smiling was getting blurry. He no longer misses his father most of all. He stared deep into the Glarer and saw the Weasley twins smirking.

“What’s wrong?” she asked. He was crying.

“I no longer miss my father. I now miss the Weasley twins more,” he said as he began to think about all the times his father helped him and smiled at him whenever he got a good percentage in one of his tests, which caused him to cry even harder, and the image of the Weasley twins had faded back into his father.

Hermione felt sorry for him. The image of him crying made her cry as well, she hugged him tight. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” was all she could say.

Muggle World- Nursing Home

The sun was shining brightly when she appeared in front of the newly built nursing home. The temperature, thankfully, was starting to rise. Hermione couldn't wait for spring. She pulled open the double doors and walked inside. The inside smelled strongly of wood and fresh paint. The walls were a bright canary yellow. Hermione walked over to a window in the wall. A secretary could be seen from inside. When the secretary saw Hermione approach, she slide the window aside. "Yes, can I help you?" the secretary asked in a pleasent voice, with a pleasent smile. "Yes, I'm Hermione Weasley, I'm Edna Granger's granddaughter." Hermione replied. "Oh yes." the secretary cried. She grabbed a paper and handed it to Hermione. "I just need you to sign on the line at the bottom." And she handed her a pen. Hermione signed the paper quickly and handed both the pen and the paper back to the secretary. "You're grandmother will be happy to see you." the secretary continued. "She's been having trouble adjusting?" Hermione asked. "That's correct." the secretary answered. "She's been extremely shy and homesick. She hardly touches her food." "Hmmm?" Hermione said aloud. "Maybe I can cheer her up." The secretary nodded. "Her room is 315. It's down that hall behind you and it's the third door on the right." she told her. Hermione smiled. "Thank you." she replied. Hermione turned and walked to her grandmother's room.

When she got to the room she knocked on the door. No one answered. Hermione knocked again, this time a little louder. Her grandmother was starting to lose her hearing. But once again, there was no answer. Hermione blinked. "Grandma, it's me, Hermione." Hermione called at the door. But still no noise from inside. Hermione put her ear to the door to see if she could hear any movement from inside. All of a sudden, a loud blare sounded. Hermione jumped. It sounded as if her grandmother had turned on the tv. Since her hearing was bad, the tv always had to be loud. But then, that meant her grandmother was inside. Perhaps just ignoring her? Hermione sighed and twisted the doorkn*b. It opened. She really should warn her grandmother about not locking the door. She pushed the door open and walked inside. It was a small room. A bed was in the corner. There were two windows on the wall straight ahead. Along with a dresser. On top of the dresser were pictures. A lot of Hermione all through the ages seeing as she was the only grandchild. A tv was a few feet away from the door. There was a door to the far right. The door was open and Hermione could see that it was a bathroom. She looked around the room before she was able to find her grandmother. She was sitting on the bed, her back was to her. Hermione blinked and walked over to the television. She reached down and shut it off. The room was plunged into silence. "Grandma." Hermione said. "I came to visit you....I brought pictures of the baby....I'm about 7 months along now....you get a great grandchild."

But her grandmother didn't turn around. She kept her back to Hermione. Her head was down a little. Hermione blinked. Her grandmother always loved talking about the baby. Edna Granger was crazy for babies. Something was definately wrong! "Grandma?" Hermione called as she slowly walked over to her. Her grandmother made no noise. She didn't even act as if she heard her. Hermione reached the bed. "Grandma?" she called again. She put out her hand and started to reach out for her grandmother. She touched her lightly on the shoulder. All of a sudden, her grandmother spun around. Only it wasn't her grandmother. It was wearing her grandmother's clothes, except it was a werewolf. The werewolf growled at her. Hermione jumped back in surprise. The werewolf lunged at her. Hermione screamed and ducked. The werewolf jumped over her. It growled and turned back to her. 'I'm gonna die!' is the only thought that ran through Hermione's head. The werewolf ran at her again. Hermione could do the only thing she could do. She disapperated with a loud crack.

CHAPTER 40

Hermione appeared in Harry and Ginny's living room. Harry and Ron blinked as she appeared in front of television. "Hermione, the game!" Ron whined. "My grandmother!" Hermione cried. Harry blinked and looked at her. "What about her?" he asked. "She was a werewolf. I almost was killed." Hermione explained quickly. "What?" Harry questioned. Hermione grabbed his arm and the two disapperated to Edna Granger's room. However, when they got there, it was empty. No grandma, no werewolf. Hermione groaned. "I left the door open." she cursed. "That werewolf could be anywhere." "Whoa, Hermione, slow down, you're starting to sound like a mad womam." Harry cried. "Maybe I am." Hermione snapped. She started to leave the room. Harry grabbed her arm and pulled back. "Explain this to me." he cried. Hermione sighed. "I came here and got her room number. When I knocked on the door, no on answered. There was no sound at all, but then the tv turned on." she explained. Harry nodded for her to go on. "So I tried the door and it was opened. So I walked in and saw my grandmother sitting on the bed. She had her back to me and she kept her head down." Hermione went on. "Did she talk to you?" Harry asked. Hermione shook her head. "She said nothing at all." she answered. "Anyway, so I shut the tv off and called for her a couple times, but she wouldn't say anything. Nor would she turn around. So I walked over to her and touched her shoulder gently. She spun around, only it wasn't her. It was a werewolf dressed like her." Harry blinked.

"The thing jumped at me and I ducked. It tried running at me again that is when I disapperated back to your house." Hermione finished. When Harry didn't say anything, Hermione turned and once again started to leave. Harry reached out again and grabbed her arm, pulling her back. "No!" Harry cried. "I am not letting you run around out there, looking for a werewolf. You're 7 months pregnant." "Then what are we supposed to do?" Hermione snapped. "Harry, that werewolf is out there. It can be biting people, killing people. We just can't let it go." "We are not going to let it go." Harry replied. "You are going back with Ginny and I am going to go alert the aurors. And we will go after it." Hermione groaned, but she had to agree. At least someone would be stopping the werewolf. Harry grabbed her arm to disapperate back to his house. "But what about my grandmother?" Hermione cried. "What if she's the werewolf?" "Let's not hope that, Hermione." Harry replied gravely. "If it's her, then there's nothing we can do. She's dead." "But-but what if it's a werewolf?!?" Hermione cried desperately. She knew she sounded stupid, but she didn't care. "Hermione, listen to yourself. A real werewolf. It's daylight, there is no full moon." Harry told her gently, as if he was talking to a small child. Hermione sighed. "You will look for her right?" she asked. "Of course." he replied with a nod. Hermione pulled away from him and walked over to the dresser. She searched the pictures quickly before finding the one she wanted. She picked it up and handed it to Harry.

The picture was of an old woman with short light brown hair. Her brown eyes sparkled. Hermione had her arms around the woman. And they were smiling. Harry nodded and slipped the picture into his pocket. "Let's go." he side. With a loud crack, the two disapperated. They appeared back at Harry and Ginny's house. Ginny and Ron looked up anxiously. Neither Harry nor Hermione had explained what was happening. They just sorta got up and left. "Stay here." Harry ordered. Hermione nodded and sat down on the couch next to her husband. Harry gave Ron and Ginny a nod before disapperating to round up the aurors. "What's going on?" Ron asked, as he wrapped his arms around his wife. Hermione sighed and explained what had happened.

CHAPTER 41

Hours flew by. Hermione and Ron waited at Ginny's house to hear from Harry. But so far, no news had come. Hermione sat in the kitchen, a cup of tea was in her hands. She kept staring at the clock, waiting for Harry to come back. Ron had taken the kids to their playroom and was playing with them. Ginny was in the kitchen, staring at Hermione sadly. "Hermione, are you hungry?" Ginny asked. "I can make you something. Anything you want?" Hermione shook her head. "No thanks." she replied. "I'm not hungry." Ginny nodded. Hermione sighed and sipped at her tea.

Somewhere in the Muggle World

Harry and Aly walked through the muggle town. Aly looked around the town in awe. She was completely fascinated. Harry, being raised in a muggle town, wasn't fazed. Everywhere he looked, he saw memories of pain and hurt and...loneliness. "Wow, these muggles." Aly cried as she looked at a mailbox. Harry tried hard not to laugh. All of a sudden, an auror ran over to them. "Boss, boss." the auror cried breathlessly. "Did you find the werewolf?" Aly asked. The auror shook their head, trying hard to catch their breath. "But we did find something else?" Harry nodded. "Take us there." he ordered. The auror nodded and walked away. Harry and Aly followed after him quickly. The auror led them down the road and into an ally way. He led them all the way to the back where a fence made it a dead end. Lying, unmoving by the fence, was an old woman with short light brown hair. Her eyes were open and lifeless. She was naked. Her still, cold body was covered in bruises and cuts. Harry reached into his pocket and took out the picture Hermione had given him. He knealt down beside her and compared the woman to the picture. His throat seemed to tighten. "It's her." he said softly. He looked up at Aly and the auror. "It's Edna Granger." Aly closed her eyes and sighed. Harry groaned and stood up. He looked at the auror. "Alert St. Mungo's." The auror nodded and disapperated.

Harry and Ginny Potter's House

Ginny sighed and looked at her best friend sadly. "Hermione, why don't you go upstairs to my and Harry's room? You can sleep." Hermione thought about it for a second and then reluctantly nodded. She drained the rest of her tea and stood up. Ginny walked over to her and grabbed her arm gently. The two started to go upstairs when a loud pop distracted them. They both turned to see Harry standing before them. Hermione could tell by the look on Harry's face that it wasn't good. But she held her breath and hoped for the best. "Did you find her?" Ginny asked. Harry nodded, not trusting his own voice. A little hope started to grow inside Hermione. "Is she...alright?" Ginny asked, hoping that she was. Harry hesisted, before shaking his head. "She's dead." he chocked out. "I'm sorry." Hermione sank to her knees and puked violently.

CHAPTER 12

The whole last term, of the third year @ Hogwarts for Hermione, & 2nd year Ginny; passed both of them by, like a hurricane!

In the storm, were long rolls of parchment, loaded with ink from assignments: Hermione had in (metaphorical)TORNADO- the added load of S.P.E.W campaign pamphlets and other paraphenilia(e.g badges/posters)-and OF COURSE, finding out that SIRIUS black was innocent, and playing a major role-in his PRISON_BREAK- and Ginny, the pressure of maintaining her newfound 'popular' status among the girls, of her year-as the Slytherins; and Romilda Vane kept trying to bring her down.

ALthough the thing that had played, and crossed their minds EYE most often, over the past few weeks, -was the recent DEVELOPMENT of the Slytherin BOYS; MALFOY&ZABINI seemingly -ROmanTic interest in them.

And so, as they were looking foward 2 the Quidditch World Cup, and an escape from the heavy weights', that Hogwarts had begun 2, put on their shoulders, as they advanced in their Education...it came as an EXTREMELY welcome suprise, to both of them; when they both, recieved gifts, from their SUPPOSEDLY secret;)admirers.

Hermione had delievered to her, by a twany-haughty looking, female Barn Owl; a GOLDEN apple, that had engraved on it, two hearts, entwined- 1 of the engraved hearts- was filled with a sparling crimson ink-and displayed a bold R.W, the other was filled with a slightly acidic-looking, lime-green ink-and showed a glittering D.M. At the bottom of the linked hearts, was the question, written in deep, brown ink: YOU are the APPLE of my EYE, in whose garden, do you wish to belong in?

Hermione honostly could NoT believe, what she had just read, and as Ron entered Ginny's room, muttering something about... if anyone had seen his: Chudley Cannon socks...she HASTILY threw the apple, under Ginny's bed-praying furiously under her breath, that Ron would not notice: He didn't, as a truimphant smile erupted, out from his face- as he violently yanked his bright, orange socks, emblazoned with 2 black C's, from Crookhanks mouth.

Ginny who had been, looking so excitedly at the gift she, had just recieved, that she hardly noticed, Ron's abrubt intrusion. Instead she was highly amused by the enchanted, amber-coloured ROSE bud, that blossomed, into a Silver SAKURA-cherry blossom, right before her eyes-a split second after touching it. ANd proceeded to read, what was written: on one of the leaves on the stem, the message "You are the cherry, that grew in the desolate Courtyard-that WAS my heart" was scratched on it> On the 2nd leaf on the same single STEM, a message read "...do you want help me WATER the garden?"

Ginny decided 2 send Blaise Zabini, an old perfume bottle, filled with Frog SPAWn as means of a reply/answer, and a bit of Laugh-('cause she felt he was taking this... mere infatuation with her, a LITTLE 2 seroiusly!), she opened her mouth, in order to share, what she was planning 2 do (as a response to her gift) with Hermione...but had caught sight of Harry at the corner of her eye, standing quietly and SMUGLY, at the foot of her bed.

She had completely, FORGOTTEN of his pending arrival, this afternoon; up until this EXACT moment, and snapped her gaping mouth shut, as quickly as it had opened.

Then she saw something that made her HEART... skip a couple of BEATS --he had noticed the Silver Cherry Blossom hanging limp now, in her clenced, left hand... and clearly, his face turned...from an expression of the utmost joy from having seen her again, 4 the first time after the summer holiday break began: to the lowest, sadness she could possibly imagine, anyone feeling!

CHAPTER 11

It was Christmas and the Malfoys and Grangers sat next to the tree unwrapping presents.

Draco was surprised to see that he had more than one present, not as much as Hermione of course, but much more than he had expected. He had gotten a chocolate frog from Dumbeldore, a bunch of galleons from his mother, a sweater from Mrs. Weasley, an apology letter from Ron, a potion from the twins and the last present was from Hermione. The box was small but very heavy. He turned to face her when he read the name tag. “This is from you?” She nodded and watched him as he opened it. It was a glass orb the size of a tennis ball he looked into it and saw his father smiling at him. He widened his eyes. “It’s a Glarer, the orb that shows you the one you miss most of all! Where on earth did you get it? They are very rare!” She didn’t answer. It was as if she didn’t want to. “Thank you,” he stated simply and smiled at her. It was a smile, not a smirk, but a smile, and a real one at that.

“You’re welcome,” she said smiling back.

Hermione had gotten many things from her muggle friends and family, a poster with Victor Krum flying on a broomstick from Ron, the book “How a Wizard Becomes a Wizard,” from Harry, the book “Spells, Charms and Curses” from Dumbeldore, a scarf from Mrs. Weasley, a handmade necklace from Ginny, the same type of potion from the twins, chocolate frogs from Neville, a weird bracelet from Luna and so on and so forth. But her favorite present had no name on it.

It was a necklace, not a handmade one like the one Ginny had given her. It was diamond necklace. That’s right, a diamond necklace. Everyone who she thinks would give her presents already did, so who could it be from. She knew the answer when she saw Mrs. Malfoy open her present from Draco.

It was a diamond bracelet, wrapped in the exact same paper and in the exact same box.

“The necklace was from you!” she said when she saw the bracelet.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said trying his best to hide it.

“Draco, I’m not that thick. I know it’s from you. Admit it!” He said nothing. He knew he won’t be able to do anything more to hide it.

“Fine,” he finally said, too embarrassed to look at her.

“Draco, its beautiful!” she hugged him tight. “Thank you so much!”

“You’re welcome.”

They all enjoyed their presents. Draco couldn’t keep his eyes off the Glarer. He kept looking at the smiling face of his father. Hermione couldn’t keep her eyes off the necklace which is now the most precious thing she owns.

It was near dinner and the Weasleys were on their way to the Malfoy Manor for dinner.

Draco and Hermione were waiting for them in the living room. They were sitting alone. Hermione was wearing the scarf Mrs. Weasley had given her, the necklace Ginny had given her and the diamond necklace. Draco was also wearing the sweater Mrs. Weasley had given him.

“The sweater looks good on you,” she told him. He also liked it, even though it wasn’t made from the rich material he always wore. The sweater was black with a snake on it.

“Thank you,” he replied. “What’s weird is we’re still acting like friends when no one’s around. It is a pretend friendship.”

“It is weird,” she agreed.

“Do NOT tell them that I gave you that,” he said pointing at the necklace.

“As long as you don’t tell them I gave you a Glarer.”

“Fine. We also agreed to never speak of yesterday night,” he said referring to the night they danced together.

“I know, and you won’t tell anyone about when we were trapped in the room and what I did to get you off the couch.”

“Right, and you won’t tell anyone about the pretend friend thing.”

“Got it,” she said. She realized that there are a lot of thing that had happened between them both that they don’t want to tell anyone.

“That’s a lot of things,” he stated looking at her in a way he had never done before.

“I know,” she said and made eye contact with him. Draco broke the eye contact when he saw Missal Toe growing over Hermione. He knelt down and kissed her lips without thinking. Hermione gasped as their lips met. The doorbell rang. The Missal Toe disappeared and they broke apart.

CHAPTER 32

When Pansy woke up the next morning, it was because of two things. One, Draco was slapping her shoulders very hard, and two, Blaise was knocking on the door. She opened an eye to see chaos happening around her.

"Pansy?" She could hear Blaise calling through the door. Since Draco had placed the silencing curse on the inside of the room, Blaise couldn't hear the commotion. She quickly opened her other eye and became very alert and aware of her surroundings.

"ANSWER HIM!" Draco shouted, as she quickly became fully awake. Draco performed the charm to take off the silencing spell and motioned for her to say something.

"Yes?" She called.

"Can I come in?" Blaise asked, and Pansy immediately went into panic mode. She brushed her fingers through her hair and straightened her pajamas which had somehow gotten mixed up. She licked her lips to make them glossy and then pinched each cheek to give it color. By the time she was done, Draco was out of sight. With a quick scan around the room, she could tell that he was in hiding so she decided to act.

"Yes," She said, getting up from the floor, but not quickly enough.

"Did you sleep on the floor?" Blaise asked, curiously, as soon as he entered the room. Pansy was sorry to say that he looked as attractive as ever, even after he had just gotten out of bed. His hair was tousled and his pajamas, in the daytime, showed off his broad shoulders. His skin was dark and his eyes were even darker. His lips looked kissable even from ten feet away. Pansy resisted the urge to jump into his strong arms and tell him everything was fine.

"Oh, no, I just fell off the bed. Silly me," She said, but not convincingly enough. She laughed and immediately stopped since it sounded so phony.

"...Okay..." Blaise said, obviously unsure of why she was telling a falsehood. "Can we talk for a moment?"

Pansy sat on the edge of her bed and braced herself for whatever Blaise threw at her. She was prepared for him to say that he had overreacted and that she could do as she pleased. She closed her eyes and felt his weight next to her.

"Pansy, I'm sorry about last night." He started, and Pansy knew she had been right. Blaise was about to let her go. "I think I made a mistake as well." He continued, and it solidified Pansy's earlier prediction. "I didn't mean to scare you like that and accuse you of being pressured by someone else. At least, not in that tone. The thing is Pansy, I know that you and I are made for each other, and I know that their is something that is making you do this that you are not telling me. I don't know what it is, but I promise you I'll find out. Until then, I'm going to keep an eye on you because I know I'll figure it out eventually."

Pansy was utterly speechless. Her eyes had flown open at his last words because she had been wrong. Blaise was not giving her up, he was holding on with all of his might. "Come to me at any time, for support, or if you change your mind. I'll always be here for you, Pansy."

Pansy still could not think of anything to say, so she closed her eyes again and tried to stop the tears that she felt coming from a mile away. It seemed as if every time Blaise said one nice thing to her, she was like putty in his hand.

Blaise took advantage of her temporary blindness by grabbing her shoulders and kissing her forcefully. His lips easily captured hers and his tongue pushed its way into her mouth. Pansy felt as if a fire had started in her mouth and was continuing throughout her body, Blaise's tongue and hands electrifying her. She hesitantly met his tongue with hers and Blaise suddenly was gentle, now knowing that she really did want him. After a moment, he released her mouth but kept their foreheads pressed against each other.

"I knew it," He said, before walking out of the room.

CHAPTER 10

“Would Ms. Granger care for a drink,” asked a house elf on Christmas Eve.

“You poor thing,” said Hermione.

“Chill, Hermione. They live to serve us, answer yes or no,” said Draco from next to her. He realized that he called her by her fist name with out trying.

“It’s Christmas eve. These house elves don’t know the meaning of fun. Look at these rags you make them wear.”

I make them wear?”

“Come on, you’re their master, tell them to have fun or something. Let them have some kind of party. A house elf party,” she begged. “Come on, what do you lose?”

“Wow, you really are considerate of others,” he said rolling his eyes. “We’ll have this house elf party. Green Toe,” he snapped to the house elf.

“Yes Master Malfoy?”

“I want you to gather all the house elves in the house in the party room,” he said.

“Anything for you master,” he said bowing and ran off.

Draco looked around and called every other house elf he sees. “Bell, Tinkers, Jeans, Jobbee, all of you, get ready for a party happening in the party room, now go,” all the house elves bowed and ran all around getting things ready.

“What was all that about?” asked Hermione, who was staring at Draco disapprovingly while he was giving orders.

“Well, I’m not going too get this party started,” he said casually. She rolled her eyes.

“Come on, do you want to join the party or not?” he stood up and walked to the party room. She followed him. In the room, there were already food on the tables and about fifty house elves in the room. All the house elves crowded around them asking for an order.

Hermione put on some music. “Grab a partner and dance.” The house elves looked at Draco, who had his hands in his pockets.

“You heard her,” he said in a demanding tone. All the house elves quickly ran around for a partner. In the blink of an eye, everybody had a partner and tried their best to dance. Draco and Hermione were amused at how horribly they dance. He sat down in a chair and Hermione sat down in the chair next to him.

An hour into the party, the house elves seemed to have such a good time. Even Draco and Hermione were having a good time, like they were watching a comedy show. The house elves dance so horribly.

Narcissa and Hermione’s parents came inside to see where the music came from and saw all the house elves dancing. They all laughed at the sight of the house elves struggling on the dance floor. The adults walked over and sat next to Hermione and Draco. Narcissa pinched Draco, who him to look at her.

“Ask her to dance,” she whispered, signaling to Hermione. He simply shook his head. She glanced at him sternly like she was going to punish him if he didn’t. So he looked at Hermione, who seemed to be enjoying every second of the party. He was surprised at himself by his next move. Without complaining, like he’d expect himself to, he stood up and extended his hand to Hermione.

She looked up, shocked at his move and smiled. She took his hand and stood up. They both were nervous. Butterflies were in their stomachs. Draco’s hands were shivering as he placed it on Hermione’s waste. Hermione’s hand shivered as she placed her hand on his shoulder. They danced. Together. All night.

When the song was finished, Hermione was blushing and Draco ran his hand through his hair. The adults and house elves applauded loudly. Hermione and Draco were too shy to even look at each other.

They were on their way to the their rooms, when Draco said, “This never leaves this house.”

“I guess I could agree with that.”

“You know this is an once-in-a-lifetime thing. It meant nothing. And this is the last time we speak of it. Deal?”

“Deal,” she said and they went separate directions.

Hermione went to her room and collapsed on her bed. I can’t believe I danced with Draco Malfoy. I can’t believe I actually had fun! I haven’t even danced with Harry or Ron to dance with him. I wish I could forget it, it did mean nothing. I can’t believe I’m starting to actually like him!

Draco went to his room and collapsed on his bed. I can’t believe I danced with a mudblood. I can’t believe I actually had fun! This pretend friendship thing has gotten way too far. I can’t believe I’m actually starting to like her. I hate myself for thinking that! I wish I could just forget about it!

So all night, their heads were filled with these kinds of thoughts.

CHAPTER 43

That was the question, how. There was no way Weasley figured it out, Draco thought. It was impossible, a genius wouldn't be able to figure it out, nevermind Ronald Weasley. There were species of kelp out there with more brains than Weasley. No, there was only two ways Ron discovered this fact. Either Ron had over heard Draco talking to himself, which that was unlikely, seeing as he would have also overheard the bit about it being Draco's mission to kill Harry Potter, or, Neville had told him. Draco sighed.

"He told you, didn't he?"Draco asked raising a blond eyebrow. Ron nodded. Draco sighed.

"You know, I didn't think- you of all people,"Ron said. Draco glared at him.

"Don't tell anyone,"Draco stated. Ron frowned.

"Why not? Don't like credit for the few good things you do?"Ron asked.

"Do you know what the order would do if they found out an x deatheater went back in time? They'd be questioning me for hours and might even kick me out,"Draco stated. Ron frowned.

"Didn't think of that,"Ron said. Draco stood frozen.

"Who else knows?"Draco demanded. He was going to kill Neville. He really, really was.

"Harry and 'Mione,"Ron said.

"Who?"

"Hermione?"said Ron.

"Oh."Draco said confused by the strange pet name, it seemed as if Ron fancied Granger. Draco groaned. Now the whole potty squad knew he had saved Neville. He was going to kill Longbottom. Slowly. What part of secret between friends didn't he understand?

"Um I have to go kill someone,"Draco said and not offering any more explanation to the now dumbfounded Ron, Draco stormed out of the room in search for Neville.

Draco stormed through the house like an over grown blonde bat, his black cloak billowing behind him, a scowl on his face that would make even the most brave of men run in fear, not however Neville Longbottom. Draco finally spotted him, sitting with Harry Potter, they seemed to be having a serious conversation. Draco walked in and gave Neville his most darkest, meanest scowl, a look that would send chills down others backs. Neville merely grinned up at him. Draco clenched his teeth.

"Scram Potter, I need to talk to Nev-Longbottom alone,"Draco said, cursing himself for almost calling him by his first name. Harry raised an eyebrow. "Alright,"Harry said unsurely before leaving, his forest green eyes darting back at the two, why did he feel like leaving Neville to be alone with Malfoy was like a death sentence?

Draco’s head shot up. He stared at Ron. His silver blue eyes stared into Ron’s ocean blue. Draco’s throat was dry. Did Ron know about Neville.

“I’ve been caught,”Draco announced, putting on a cool face and sarcastic tone. “I did it, I’m the one that ate the last of the ice cream. Satisfied?”Draco asked, and he had to. They had had a gallon of it and Draco had demolished it. Potter had been very displeased. Here Draco Malfoy was in the supposeive great order of the phoenix and its members throw a hissy fit when someone eats a mere gallon of ice cream. He was hungry.

“That was you- Malfoy there was like three gallons,”Ron said in shock..Lies.

“I have to go polish my wand,”Draco said standing up.

“I know what you did for Neville, “Ron said as Draco headed for the door. Draco stopped and turned glaring at Ron. Why did Weasley taunt him so? Cant he do one kind thing and get away with it? These good people were already a bad influence, everytime he did something they approved off must they give him a pat on the back? Draco sighed.

“I don’t know what your talking about,”Draco said a weird feeling in his stomach he poked it carefully. Ron frowned.
“What are you doing?”Ron asked.

“Don’t change the subject,”Draco said anxious to hear if Ron really knew or not. Draco paused. “I mean nothing,”Draco said crossing his arms. Ron stared at him strangely.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“Well quit staring.”

“I’m not!”

“Weasley I know i’m hot but I didn’t know you swung that way-“

“What- no!”Ron said looking horrified. Draco smirked. Ron shook his head.

“I know you saved Neville,”Ron stated. There was no way, how could Ron possibly know? He must be lying, he had to be lying.

“How!?”Draco demanded.

Diagon Ally.

A shadowed figure walked quickly down the empty ally, adjusting their cloak, making sure their hood covered them. They shivered from the winter air, walking quicker, eager to reach their destination. A black boot landed and imprinted its self on an abandoned daily prophet, left on the street, Scarlet Rose's aritcal beaming up at the sky, still the figure quickened their pace, and turned left, entering a small shop, un opened yet, it was going to be a book store. With a swift flick of their wand the door snapped open and the figure walked in easily. The Figure shut the door tightly and entered the black room where gold lettering said: Employees onl. It was missing the y. The cloaked figure entered, looking around the room as if checking to make sure they were alone. The figure laughed softly, picking up a book, the book in bright lettering read, "Little Red Riding Hood." The figure opened the book hands hovering above the open pages and began an echantment and the book glew bright green.

Harry and Ginny Potter's House

"Only eighteen,"Ginny Weasley grumbled scrubbing dishes. Ron raised an eyebrow at her and glanced at Harry. "She still going on about that?"Ron asked. Ron and Hermione had decided to pay them a visit, Ron lifted his plate of food as the kids ran by playing tag. "There so cute,"Ron said. "When there not yours,"Harry grumbled. Ginny glared at him darkly. "It was a joke, their adoreable Ginny,"said Harry quickly. "Hermione, thats an interesting cloak,"Harry said looking at a cloak he had not seen his friend wear before, Hermione was wearing a blood red cloak. Hermione smiled. "I bought it for myself as an award for winning the case,"Hermione said happily. "It's pretty,"Ginny said looking at the red silk cloak.

Hermione smiled. "Oh, I've almost forgotten,"Hermione said sitting up. "What?"asked Ron. "My parents mailed me last night, they want me to go see my grandmother in the nurseing home. She's having problems adjusting,"Hermione said. "Your grandmother is still alive!?"Ron demanded. Hermione rolled her eyes. "Yes Ronald, she is only in her eightys, muggles live quite long you know,"said Hermione. "but that long? Do they really? Ginny you told me they died at 50,"Ron said. Harry snorted. "Oh I wish,"Harry said muttering something about his uncle. Hermione kissed Ron on the cheek. "I'll be back in an hour,"Hermione said tightening the red cloak around her. "Alright,"said Ron and his eyes fell on Harry. "You watched quidditch last night right?"Ron asked. Harry nodded excitedly. Ginny and Hermione rolled their eyes. "later Riding hood,"Ginny said teasingly. Hermione rolled her eyes and left.

CHAPTER 71

At around nine o’clock that night, Hermione said her good nights to everyone and made her way to the room that she was staying in. ‘So much for the best year of her life like she had thought it was going to be on the train ride,’ she thought to herself as she pulled out the made covers and snuggled under them before crying. Things had been so well and then what happened? Zachariah came back and she lost the two people who made her world for the past six years. How could they just pretend that nothing happened between the three of them over the years and snap the moment that something ever went wrong? Hermione rarely ever snapped that bad and what happens? For the first time in her entire life, she lost it, freaking out of the two people who meant anything to her.

Ginny walked into the study where Zachariah and Draco were currently residing in. She had gone upstairs to the room that she was staying in to change into a pair of sleep shorts, a tank top, and a robe over top of that. She took a seat next to Zach and ran a hand through her ginger hair. “We’ve got a huge problem,” she said in a soft voice.

“What do you mean?” Zach asked as he looked over at a very tired looking Ginny.

“When I was upstairs, I passed Hermione’s room,” she said. “She was crying.”

“What?” Draco asked, slowly getting more and more worried.

“She was bawling her eyes out from what I could tell,” she said. “I mean she might still be if she hasn’t fallen asleep yet. You can only cry that hard for a short amount of time before it starts to suck out all of the energy that you had in you. By the looks of it, she didn’t have much energy left in her when she went up.”

Draco nodded his head before he stood and made his way to the foyer to take the stairs up towards the bedrooms. What was going on? Why was Hermione crying? But more importantly, why didn’t Hermione pull him aside and tell him that she was unhappy?

With hundreds of questions and thoughts running wildly through his head, Draco made his way over to Hermione’s door. Just as Ginny had said; Hermione was bawling her eyes out. He could hear her sobs and it broke his heart. As quietly as he could, he turned the **** and opened the door. “Hermione?” he asked quietly. But much to his dismay, Hermione had grown completely quiet and still, pretending to be asleep. He walked over to her bed and sat on the edge of it and rubbed her back gently. “If you want to cry, you can,” he said. “I’m here for you and I’m listening if you want to talk.” He didn’t hear anything come from Hermione besides her sobbing beginning again.

“I don’t know what to do,” Ginny said as she sat in the study with Zach. “I mean, she’s my best friend…”

“There’s nothing you can do,” Zach replied as he pulled her closer to him. He could feel her shoulders drop a little bit. “I know that you want to help her more than ever but if she doesn’t open up to you at all, then there is nothing you can do. Draco might be able to help her. She has had the biggest crush on him for as long as I can remember.”

“How do you know that?” Ginny replied.

“Any one with half a brain could tell that the two of them have secretly liked each other.”

Hermione had stopped crying after awhile and just laid in bed. She was almost completely asleep but she was still awake. She could feel Draco on the edge of the bed still and rolled over to face him. She sniffled lightly before biting her lip. She was trying so hard to keep from crying again.

“Hey,” Draco said as he moved his hand and gently cupped her face in it. He gently wiped at her cheeks and stayed completely quiet. If she wanted to talk to him, she would and it would be on her terms and when she was ready. But when she yawned, Draco smiled at her and stood up. “Goodnight,” he said as he kissed her on the forehead and left the room.

When Hermione, finally came 'round a full minute, or so later (in the library, Cedric was now completely surrounded by a group of gaggling gals, so she didn't want to risk saying good-bye), instead she thought she had better join Harry and Ron, down by the lake... before she began to lose her mind completely!! She never knew herself to be this stressed and highly-strung in her life, and had seriously begun 2 question, whether or not, it was sensible 2 repeat this years' time-table, as using the time-turner was a HUGE burden, and learning had become tiresome, which was something Hermione just couldn't stand for

Just as Hermione, left the library, Ron and Harry were trying desperately, 2 look innocent as Professor Lupin, had come running 2 find the source of the spine-chilling(most literally of course for poor, CHO) scream.

Lupin, who looked more hagged than ever, quickly deduced that it was the Weasley twins, and not Harry & Ron (-who were seemingly the more obvious choice for casting a curse, on MALFOY):who were 2 blame. He blocked their path, as they had attempted to make a run for it; "You 2 stay put...OR else, I will call Snape, I am deadly serious! Not ones for escaping just punishment, if it were there only option left, George feebly tried 2 sound sincere: in saying that what he had done 2 Malfoy was accidental, and a spur of the moment thing.

Lupin, being the kind forgiving person, he is... decided it would be better for George, if he pretended 2 believe, this blatently false, explanation. For Lupin knew it would not bode well, on the Weasley family: if Lucius Malfoy, got wind of the incident.

CHAPTER 9

The Grangers and the Malfoys were at breakfast, apparently, Narcissa Malfoy had forced Draco and Hermione to sit next to each other. At breakfast, Draco ate like a pig.

“Draco, the food won’t run away,” said Hermione.

“I know, but I’m hungry. I didn’t eat dinner yesterday thanks to a certain mud- I mean Hermione,” he said with food in his mouth.

“First of all, It wasn’t my fault and second, don’t speak with your mouth full.”

“Fine mother,” he teased, as he swallowed his food.

“You are so annoying,” she said and continued eating, “so what are you doing today?”

“Sounds like you’re going to ask me out,” he said with a smirk. He looked and saw a stern look on her face. “Kidding Granger, you have no sense of humor! The answer to your question, I’m going to Diagon Alley to buy Christmas presents.”

“Really? Can I come? I have presents to buy as well.”

“We cannot be seen together in public. Reputation on the line,” he said stuffing his face with a bread roll.

“I see,” she said with a disgusted look on her face due to his eating. “But I am coming.”

“I don’t care where you go, as long as you leave me be,” he said with his mouth full.

After an shopping for presents in Diagon Alley, they met next to a clothing store. Diagon Alley was very crowded because of people running back and forth to buy Christmas presents.

“Make no eye contact with me,” he whispered to her.

“I know,” she said, turning her head the opposite way. They started walking until Hermione said, “I don’t know why I’m trying to save your stupid reputation, while you’re going to ruin mine by telling Ron I kissed you.”

“Fine, I won’t, just don’t look at me,” he said pinching her arm. She turned around to pinch him back until she saw that he had one small bag. Her hands were full of bags.

“That is all you bought,” she asked pointing to the bag.

“Don’t look at me,” he scolded. “And yes that is all, I only have a mother. I have no friends or relatives.” He pushed through the crowd. He felt that she wasn’t following her, so he looked back.

He saw Hermione shouting, “Mrs. Weasley,” and heading toward a store.

“Do you really have to see her,” he asked following her. He had to be with her at all times was his mothers orders.

He waited outside the store as she and Mrs. Weasley shared a nice big hug, which made Draco a bit sick.

“I heard from Ron the news about staying with the Malfoys,” said Mrs. Weasley.

She nodded and said, “How is everybody?”

“Fine,” she looked outside and saw Draco.

‘”Is that Draco Malfoy,” she asked signaling to him.

“Yes,” she nodded.

“The poor dear, how is he taking his father’s death?”

“Getting better,” she said looking at him.

“Tell him to come in from the cold.”

Hermione went outside and dragged him inside.

“Hello dear,” said Mrs. Weasley. He didn’t answer. “I want to ask you, since you are a male the same age as Ron, what color do you think he’ll like his sweat shirt I will make for him?”

“I think me and Weasley have different interests, but I would like green and black,” she nodded with a smile. “Hermione dear, what color do you think Ginny would like?”

“I’d say Ginny really likes pink and blue.”

She nodded. “Yes. Thank you so much, you really helped. Wait, perhaps you and the Malfoys would like to have dinner tomorrow. I’ll owl your mother and ask her. Ron told me he couldn’t wait to see you, Hermione.”

“I’d like that Mrs. Weasley, Thank you,” said Hermione. She felt Draco pinch her arm. He obviously didn’t like the idea.

“I don’t think we can,” he said to Mrs. Weasley.

“Why don’t you tell your mother and have her owl me about it, Okay? Goodbye dears,” and she went along to buy her supplies.

After she was out of sight, Draco said, “I will not go and act all friendly with you in front of Potter and the Weasley clan.”

“Come on Draco, it will be fun.”

He suddenly forgot about his reputation and stared her right in the eye. “Spending time with a Weasley had never and will never be fun. I am not going.”

“Too bad that’s not your choice. I will tell your mother that Mrs. Weasley invited us, and I’m sure she’ll say yes.”

“If she does and I go, that would be a perfect time to tell Weasley about the kiss.”

“It also would be the perfect time to tell Ron and Harry about the agreement me and you made about being friends.”

“Pretend friends!”

“Whatever. Let’s just go!” she said walking out of the store.

Hermione told Narcissa Malfoy about the invitation. She accepted and owled Mrs. Weasley. She said that it might be the perfect way for Draco to make friends. Draco, of course, disagreed. But his mother forced him to. So the next day, they found themselves in the Weasley house. Mrs. Weasley told Ron and Harry to respect Draco and treat him like a friend even if he insults them.

Hermione was the first to enter Weasley Residence and gave everybody in the house a hug. Her parents were next and shook hands with Mrs. and Mr. Weasley. Narcissa was next. She never liked Mrs. Weasley, but she forgot about that and shook her hand. Draco was the last and didn’t even look at anyone. He stared at the ground and sat next to his mother.

“Why don’t you take Draco and Hermione to your room?” Mrs. Weasley told Ron and Harry.

Ron had an angry look on his face when he saw Draco.

“No thank you Mrs. Weasley. I prefer to stay here,” he said trying to sound polite or his mother would punish him.

“The whole point of us coming here was for you to make friends with them, go!” she whispered to him. He didn’t move. “Go!” she said more angrily. He stood up and followed Ron upstairs.

They were walking up the stairs. “You call this a home?” Draco started as he looked around.

“Yes,” said Ron, wanting to punch him.

“Look at these filthy floors.”

“Be nice,” scolded Hermione as they entered a room. It was a small room with two beds.

“How could you sleep here?” he said disgusted at the sight.

“Shut up ferret boy!” said Ron.

“Make me,” he replied rudely.

“Stop fighting Draco or else!”

“Draco? Since when did you call him Draco?” asked Ron in a worried tone.

“Since she realized I’m the guy she really wants and not you Weasel-B,” he snickered.

“What?”

“Ron, he’s lying. Put a sock in it,” she said turning to Draco, “Or else.”

“Or else what?” He said getting closer to Hermione.

“Or else I’ll tell them what you don’t want me to tell them,” she said also getting closer.

“If you do so, I’ll tell Weasel-B here what you don’t want me to tell him,” getting closer. Their noses were touching and Ron was getting worried.

Suddenly, Harry spoke up, “Stop fighting, all of you, now what’s this about?” Hermione and Draco backed away from each other.

There was a pause. “Nothing,” said Hermione finally.

“NOTHING!” shouted Ron. “They’re sharing a secret that’s what this is all about!” shouted Ron furiously.

Hermione couldn’t believe that words coming out of his mouth. “Ronald! I can’t believe you’d think that! We ARE NOT sharing secrets. We are blackmailing each other.”

Draco was also mad at what Ron had just implied. He got up, cracking his fist. “What are you saying there Weasley? That me and that mudblood like each other,” he said as getting closer to Ron. Ron slapped him first. At that time Mrs. Weasley came in.

“RONALD!” she screamed. “How dare you do that to a guest?!” she scolded as she walked inside the room over to Draco. He had a furious look on his face. “Are you okay dear?” she asked Draco.

“I’m fine. I just don’t want to be around here any more,” he said rudely as he exited the room.

“What happened?” asked Mrs. Weasley furiously. Hermione followed Draco, leaving Mrs. Weasley scolding Ron.

Hermione saw Draco sit next to his mother with a frown on his face. Hermione also sat down with her arms crossed. She wanted them to get along for once.

A few minutes later, Ron came downstairs beside Draco. “I’m sorry,” he said glumly.

“I won’t forgive you until you’re down on your knees, kissing my robes begging for mercy,” he said with a wide smirk. Ron turned to his mom with an I-won’t do-it face. His mother returned a deathly glare, so he did as he was told. He sit on his knees and kissed his robes.

“I beg for mercy,” said Ron, feeling all eyes on him amused. The whole room was laughing. Fred and George laughed the hardest.

“I like this kid,” said Fred.

“We could use him for our evil plan to dominate the teachers,” said George.

“So, do you forgive him?” asked Narcissa with a wide smile.

Draco, still laughing at how ridiculous he looks, surprisingly nodded. “I forgive you Weasley, only because my mother and yours want me to. But that doesn’t mean we’re friends.”

Mrs. Weasley clapped her hands like a little girl with a wide smile. “Everybody gather round the table. I made a nice big Christmas Dinner.”

Everybody focused their attention from Ron on his knees to the food on the table. There was enough to feed everybody. So they all took their plates and started eating. Draco, loved the food. He ate quickly. He had about five refills. Mrs. Weasley was glad Draco liked the food.

“This is some delicious stuff,” he told Mrs. Weasley without thinking.

Mrs. Weasley blushed, “Thank you, dear.” It made Ron snicker. Malfoy, the Draco Malfoy, actually liked his mother’s food. Harry also snickered. The thought was actually kind of funny. Draco was the first to finish, because he ate so quickly.

“Do you want anymore food dear?”

“No thanks, I full, thank you for a delicious meal Mrs. Weasley, at least one Weasley can make me feel better,” he said glaring at Ron. He saw he was amused at his words. Malfoy was actually praising his mother, and he was actually POLITE in doing so.

“Thank you dear, glad you enjoyed,” said Mrs. Weasley smiling, blushing furiously.

“Mother, what did you do, put some make-a-mean-boy-polite potion in that stew or something?”

“No Weasel-B. I just like your mother’s food; do you have a problem with that? If you do, I suggest you deal with it.” Hermione laughed. She was surprised Draco was acting so polite to a Weasley. Ron couldn’t think of a comeback so kept eating.

“Molly, you should come and eat dinner with us, in the Malfoy Manor,” said Narcissa.

“I would like that,” said Mrs. Weasley as she grabbed Draco’s plate and put it in the sink.

The rest of the visit was full of laughter. All the adults were getting along quite nicely. Hermione, Ginny, Ron and Harry were sitting there talking to each other. Fred and George started talking to Draco about their evil plan to take over the teachers.

When they were home, Hermione asked, “Seems like you had fun.”

“More fun than I thought. Those two Weasley clones aren’t so bad. They have a little evil going on their heads. Mrs. Weasley really makes some delicious food. You were right, I had fun. It’s a weird feeling, not hating a Weasley, but I did have fun.”

Ministry of Magic
Courtroom 1

Hermione stood in front of the court. She had pleaded her case, all she had to do now was wait. She was so nervous. She hoped that they believed Blaise was innocnet. Beside her Blaise stood. She could tell he was nervous by the way he kept shuffling his feet. However, his face was impassive. Avoid of no emotion. "How do the jury find the defendant?" Minister of Magic, Connie Scrimgeour, questioned. "We find the defendant." a juror said, rising to their feet. "Not guilty of the attempted murder of Jessica Scrimgeour." Blaise let out a sigh of relief and smiled. "Court dismissed." Connie replied. Blaise hugged Hermione. "Thank you so much." Blaise cried. "Your welcome." Hermione replied. The two stood and walked to the door of the court room. They could hear the reporters outside the room. Hermione sighed and looked at Blaise. "Ready to face them?" she asked. "Hermione, I am a model." he informed her, as if she didn't know. "I have to face these savages everyday." Hermione opened the door and the two walked out into the swarm of reporters. Scarlet Rose stood in the front. Hermione groaned when she saw her. "So Blaise, tell all your fans, were you as shocked as we were when the verdict came back as not guilty?" Scarlet asked. Blaise narrowed his eyes at her. "What do you mean?" he hissed. "Oh, come on." she said with a laugh. "Everyone knows you are guilty. That's why you went to Granger right? She's so easy to fool." Scarlet replied. All the reporters stopped asking their own questions and started to listen to Scarlet.

"I mean, this is the second murderer Granger got off." Scarlet continued, writing things down on a notepad. All the other reporters turned to their notepads and started to scribble quickly. Hermione looked around glaring at all of them. "I didn't murder anyone!" Blaise snapped. "And I didn't try killing my fiancee." Blaise pushed through the rest of the reporters and stormed off. Hermione hurried after them. "Hmmm." Scarlet thought with an evil grin on her face. "Move!" she cried as she pushed a reporter. The reporter fell to the floor. He glared up at her. "The only substitute for good manners is fast reflexes." Scarlet snapped at him and hurried after Hermione and Blaise. When she finally caught up to them, she saw them hugging. Scarlet smirked and reached into her bag. She pulled out her camera and snapped a quick picture. Hermione and Blaise pulled back quickly. Scarlet waved the camera around grinning. "Now I was sure that my article would make front page of tomorrow's Daily Prophet." she told them. "But with a picture like that....well now, my article just got even better." "Go to h*ll!" Blaise snapped at her. Scarlet smirked and scribbled something down on her notepade. Hermione turned to Blaise. "Ignore her." she muttered. "She just wants to get you mad so you will say something and she will have a better article." "Oo touche, mudblood." Scarlet hissed. Hermione's eyes narrowed at her.

"Go home." Hermione muttered to Blaise. "Oh yes, go run on home, Zabini." Scarlet said. "I have all I need right here." And she patted her camera like it was a small pet. Blaise didn't make any effort to leave. He just continued to glare at her. "Go home and see your daughters." Hermione muttered to him. "Yes, go run on home and see your daughters." Scarlet teased. "And after that, why don't you stare at yourself in the mirror. Practice your poses. God knows that they need worked on. As a state of this." And again she waved the camera around. Blaise glared and with a loud crack, apperated. Hermione said nothing to Scarlet. She pushed past her and climbed onto a lift. "Yes, run, run, little mudblood." Scarlet teased. "All the way back to the little weasel." Hermione glared and the lift started to rise. Scarlet smirked and kissed her camera. "If you ain't making waves, you ain't kicking hard enough." she said.

Harry and Ginny Potter's House

Ron and Hermione arrived at Harry and Ginny's house, early, as they were told. Ron and Harry went to the living room to watch the quidditch game. Hermione and Ginny were in the kitchen. Hermione started to help Ginny finish cooking. The house was silent. The kids were with Molly. The four of them were having a dinner party with Charlie and his mysterious girlfriend that no one in the family had a chance to meet. Charlie had called Ginny up and asked if she would be the first one to meet her. Ginny was surprised, but said yes. Charlie had also asked Ron and Hermione to come. "So does your mum know about this party?" Hermione asked, tying an apron around her swollen belly. "No!" Ginny cried. "Or else, she would insist on being here to meet the girlfriend." Hermione nodded. Ginny groaned and leaned against the counter. "Why do you think Charlie wants Ron and I to be the first to meet her?" she asked anxiously. "Hmmm." Hermione replied. "Maybe it's because she is a serial killer psychopath and he wants to see your reactions first before he kills his mum." Ginny glared and threw a dish towel at her. "That's not funny." she snapped. Hermione laughed. At 6:00 sharp, the food was waiting on the table. It was jinxed to stay hot. Ginny stared at the door, wringing her hands in her lap. Harry pulled his eyes away from the tv along enough to say "Darling, stop it, I'm sure everything is fine." But she ignored him. Hermione and Ron caught each other's eye and laughed silently. A moment later, there was a knock at the door. Ginny jumped to her feet at once. When she opened the door, a pleasent smile was on her face. "Come in, come in." Ginny cried. Harry, Ron, and Hermione looked up to see Charlie and a young, pretty woman walk in.

Charlie hugged Hermione and Ginny tightly. He then shook Harry and Ron's hands. "This is my girlfriend Brooke Carter." Charlie announced as he made the introductions. A few minutes later, they were all sitting down to eat. "So where did you two meet?" Ginny asked. Harry saw that Ginny was actually smiling, and not some fake grin. He relaxed. It looked as if Ginny really liked her. "Oh, well, Charlie and I are working together." Brooke replied. "I'm sorta his student." "Student?" Ginny questioned. "Whenever someone new gets hired, the boss appoints an older employee to show them the ropes pretty much." Charlie explained to his sister. "Oh, that's nice." Ginny said. "I'm still not done with my studies." Brooke informed them all. "I still have about a few more months of training, before I can really work with the dragons." Ginny nodded. She really liked Brooke. She had no idea why she was so worried. She was really pretty and smart. The perfect girl for Charlie. "I can't believe how much studying I have to do, I thought I gave that up months ago when I graduated Hogwarts." Brooke continued on. Ginny froze. Ron started to choke on his food. Charlie looked at his younger brother. "Are you alright?" he asked. "Oh..yea..fine...sorry." Ron muttered, his ears starting to turn red. "E-excuse me, Hogwarts?" Ginny asked. "Yes." Brooke answered. "I'm only 18." Ginny was in shocked. How could Charlie date her? She was way too young for him.

The rest of the dinner went by quickly. But not quick enough for Ginny. They talked about everything. Hermione's case espeically. Brooke was a big fan of Hermione's. The dinner party ended at 9:00. Brooke claimed she was tired and had a lot of work to do the next day. Hermione wanted to stay and help Ginny clean up but Ginny sent her home. She was upset and when she was upset, she liked to clean. Harry retired up to their bedroom to watch, yet another quidditch game. Ginny walked into the room and looked down on him. Harry tried to ignore her stare...but it was like it was penetrating him. "What?" he asked. "I can't believe he's dating her. She is 17 years younger than he is." Ginny cried. "What could they possibly talk about?" Harry who desperately wanted to get back to watching the game said "Maybe they are the kind of couple that doesn't need to talk." Ginny pictured Charlie and Brooke....kissing..making out..... "WHAT?!?" Ginny screamed. "THEY BETTER NOT BE THAT KIND OF COUPLE!!!" "What?" Harry cried. "No. I meant, maybe they like the silence, that's all." "Mhmmm." Ginny replied. She left the room to clean up. Harry went back to watching his game.

CHAPTER 31

Pansy returned to her room, to find Draco waiting for her, tears pouring out of her eyes. "Good, Pansy. I knew you would obey me." He said as she flopped down on the bed and buried her head in her hands, shaking from her uncontrollable sobbing.

"Pansy, you may feel hurt now, but it is only temporary. Once you come to live with me, you'll feel much better."

"I will n-not go to l-live with y-you!" She cried, barely able to see him through her blurry vision.

"Of course not now, my father would throw you out like a piece of trash. It will take him time to come around."

Pansy sobbed harder at this, thinking about a life living with both Malfoy men. It would be torture, not only would she have to leave Blaise forever but she would be forever abused.

"Draco, you're a horrible p-person and I h-hate you. I would n-never l-live with you." She said, trying to stop her crying so she could speak to him seriously. Her tone let him know that she wasn't kidding.

"Fine, then I'll just go pay a little visit to our dear friend, Blaise." Draco said, whipping out his wand and striding quickly to the door. He had already flung it open when Pansy cried out.

"W-Wait!" Her hand was in front of her, making the sign for stop.

Draco smiled a nasty smile and shut the door, walking back over to where she sat on the bed. "Yes, that's what I thought. Now, for tonight we'll sleep here, you on the ground. Tomorrow you'll go back over to your flat, with me, and your life will resume as normally as possible. I have to watch you for a period of time to make sure that you are ready for the Malfoy lifestyle. As soon as you prove to me that you are worthy enough to breathe the same air as me, then I will bring you to the manor and you can quit your job. If you don't obey me, or if you tell anyone about our little arrangement, you can kiss your, and Blaise's, neck good-bye."

With a flick of his wand Draco extinguished the lights. She grabbed a pillow from the bed and laid on the floor, Draco looking like a king as he settled into the large bed. "Good night, Pansy, and remember, this is the last day of your old life. Tomorrow will be a new day."

Pansy could only hope that this wasn't true.

CHAPTER 40

Harry looked like a fish out of water. His mouth opened and closed several times as his eyes darted from Neville to McNair’s dead body. Harry looked to the others, to see if he was going mad, or if they all saw it too. Draco's lips involuntarily twitched into a smile. Ron hit Harry.

"You seeing what i'm seeing mate?"Ron hissed in question, eyes wide. Harry nodded slowly. Fred and George exchanged looks.

"This is the last time I test one of our products on myself George,"Fred announced. George nodded in agreement. Neville stared at them as if they had all gone crazy.

"Well either i've had to much to drink, or not enough,"Draco stated a blonde eyebrow raised.

"Neville?"said his grandmother unsurely, staring at Neville as if expecting him to also turn into a deatheater.

"Gram? What are you doing here?"Neville said looking at the old woman in concern. She hesitantly took Neville's hands in her own.

"They told me you had died!"she wailed. Neville put on a fake annoyed look.

"I'm gone five minutes and you lot declare me dead? Nice to see you all have faith in my fighting abilities,"Neville said.

"It's not that we, we saw you dead,"Harry said. Neville looked at Harry as if he had lost his marbles. Harry was beginning to think maybe he had.

"You saw me dead,"Neville said slowly looking at Harry in disbelief.

"I- we all did,"Harry said looking at the others for back up.

"Then you turned into McNair,"said Hermione. Neville looked at the deatheater.

"Right,"said Neville sounding as if he disbelieved him. Mad-Eye limped over, now recovered from his injuries from earlier, examining the body.

"It must have been a pollyjuice,"He announced.

"See!"said Harry in desperation to prove is sanity, "He looked like you and we, we thought you were dead and your not,"said Harry lamely.

"Well said Potter,"Draco said.

"Shut it Malfoy."

"Why don't you make me saint Potty?"

"Enough!"Hermione snapped at the two giving them dark looks. Neville's grandmother was hugging him tightly.

"Well, if Neville wasnt dead just then he's going to be at this rate, the bloody woman is going to sufficate him to death,"Ron stated. Hermione shot him a dark look her honey brown eyes reduced to slits. Ron fell silent.

"Thank god,"Neville's gram said, and repeated it several times as Neville struggled for air, and finally he was released, and pulled off by his gram to be pampered. Harry walked back over to Tonks putting a hand on her shoulder, her eyes held a small hope, perhaps maybe, maybe Lupin was a deatheater to, though it was highly unlikely.

"He will have a dam.n good funeral,"Harry said voice cracking slightly. Draco slipped out of the room, to much drama. He never hated Lupin, but he never particularly liked him. Than again he was Draco Malfoy, Draco Malfoy didn't like anyone, Draco Malfoy didn't need anyone, Draco Malfoy was a stupid idiot who just possibly changed the future. Draco slumped into an empty chair in the kitchens staring at the table.

"Good job Malfoy, you saved one life, now you get to destroy one. Potter's. Either him or your mother,"Draco said and he groaned. He swore. "Great, i'm talking to myself. Wonderful i've completely lost my-"

"Who are you talking to?"

Draco turned quickly to meet the eyes of Ron.

"No one,"Draco said stiffening slightly, had Weasley heard? He was so stupid!

"You said you completely lost your than you stopped, continue I want to hear the rest,"Ron said eyes lit up in amusement. Draco relaxed slightly, it seemed Weasel hadn't heard.

"Nothing,"Draco said again, eyeing Ron like a tiger would its pray. Most people felt nervous under this look, Ron was either to brave or to stupid.

"Can't believe Neville's actually alive, lucky eh?"Ron said. Draco nodded slowly and frowned.

"Weasley no offense, but you hate me. Why are you making with the small talk?"Draco asked slowly.

CHAPTER 41

Ron didn't answer at first, he was staring at the floor as if thinking hard. This, Draco thought, was highly unusual for Weasley, to think at all that is, never mind hard, surely a day to be marked on the calender with gold stars from his Mummy. Ron opened his mouth as if to say something but thought better of it and stopped and turned.

"Maybe I misjudged you,"Ron said slowly. Draco raised an eyebrow at him. Who was this, and what had they done with Ron Weasley?

"Really?"Draco said holding back the amused look that wanted to take over his features. "Why do you say that? I'm pretty sure i'm the same pompous git i've always been,"Draco said crossing his arms.

"Well,"said Ron and it almost looked as if the next words actually caused him great pain, "Your not so bad." Not so bad? Well, it wasnt the best compliment Draco had had but he'd take it over slimey git any day. Draco frowned. Why did Weaselbe suddenly have this change of heart? Ron hated him more than anyone here. Ron stared at Draco. Draco looked confused. He supposed Weasley was expecting a compliment back. Draco frowned, he wasnt sure if he could pull off a compliment.

"Thanks. Your um. Even though your poor you- uh.I dont hate you?"Draco said. Ron laughed.

"Thats the nicest you get isnt it?"Ron asked.

"I'm morally challenged got a problem with that?"Draco said a grin despite himself forming. Curse these Gryffindors they were contaminating him with niceness! He must be disinfected. He needed sope. Yes. Lots of sope and- *****, he still needed to kill Potter. He couldn't go all soft and get buddy buddy with Weaselbe when he was plotting on how to murder his best friend it was just wrong!

What would he do send Ron a nice card, Sorry I killed your best friend card? No, that wouldn't work. He had to distant himself from them not get closer. Especially Longbottom, he had to look out for that ball of compassio nand friendliness. He was worse than the plague. He infected u with kindness and friendship until it choked out all the evil, entirely unfair. How was he going to kill Potter? He highly doubted Avada Kedavra would work, and if it didnt Potter would realize that Draco had had to try to kill him, then Draco would fail and his mother would be slaughtered. . . it was either kill Potter or let his mother die.

"Oy, Malfoy,"Ron said. Draco looked at Ron snapping out of his moral conflicts.

"What?"Draco hissed. Ron had a knowing smile. It was unnerving, it was almost as annoying as Neville's.

"I know what you did."Ron said.

CHAPTER 39

It made Draco feel sick, to see everyone crying over McNair while Neville was alive and safe in the next room, but he couldn't let them know. They thought they had lost two 'soldiers' today, not only Lupin. Draco's eyes landed on the werewolf's body. He never particularly liked the guy, but it didnt mean he wanted him dead. Tonks was crying holding his un moving hand. Draco hesitantly reached out his hand to put on her shoulder. His finger tips hovered an inch over her shoulder before he pulled his arm back, leaving Tonks alone. Harry shot him a questionable look. Draco pretended not to notice. Harry walked over, and gave Tonks the compassion Draco had attempted, putting his hand on her shoulder. Tonks turned and sobbed onto Harry's shoulder.

"Where is he?"

"Over here,"McGonagall replied. Draco looked up to see Neville's grandmother, standing stiffly in the doorway. McGonagall guided the grandmother to who she thought was her grandsons body. She stared at his limp body.

"What was it again?"

“It was Torqueo ignis,”Draco said quietly. The old womans gaze fell on Draco, she stared un blinking.

"And you killed him to stop his suffering?"she said. Draco didn't break her icy gaze.

"Yes." The room was silent, waiting to see what would happen. Neither broke each other's gaze.

"Thank you,"she said softly. Harry blinked shocked. Draco nodded slowly. Thats when a scream emittited from Hermione. The pollyjuce had finally worn off, Mcnair took his shape back.

"WHAT IS GOING ON?"Ron demanded. That was Neville's signal. Neville walked in a false look of anger.

"You guys LEFT me in that fight! Whats with the dead deatheater?"Neville said. Draco sighed, at least Neville was a good actor.
