Story (I copy and paste from internet) – Chapter 1 - 'LOVE IS THE CLOSEST THING WE HAVE TO MAGIC'

CHAPTER 1

Ring---Ring. “Hello?”

“Hey!”

“Who is this?”

“Your mother.”

“Excuse me!?”

“Joking, what’s up?”

“Nothing much, who is this again?”

“Ronald, your Ronald.”

I took a deep breath, Ron, I thought with excitement.

Wait let’s stop right there. Ron…..Ronald…..Ronnie. Yes, I’m in love with this guy, but he’ll never know, nor do I plan on telling him. Why, well mostly I have a reputation to keep.

Hermione Granger doesn’t put up with the so-called thing, called “dating.” Except that time in my fourth year, with Viktor Krum. It just wasn’t me. Well back to the conversation.

“Ron, you know how to use these things?” I asked in a surprised tone.

“Yes, yes of course, I know how to use a fellytone!” He said distracted. I giggled uncontrollably.

“Ron! It’s a telephone silly!”

“Oh, haha, I knew that!” Ron murmured embarrassed.

Back to my thoughts, what am I thinking about? Why would he go out with me, when he could go out with Lavender Brown AKA Miss. Gossip Queen. With the help of Parvati Patil of course, oops, here am I slipping off to my thoughts, when my lover is holding on the phone.

“Hermione?”

“Yes.”

“You are coming to Hogwarts this school year?”

“Of course.”

“Okay.”

“Why?”

“Just wondering.”

“Oh, alright.”

“Uh, well than see you there.”

“Alright than.”

“Hermione?”

“Yeah.”

“Uh….I love you, okay.”

“Um, I love you to Ronald.”

“Bye.”

“Bye.”

I screamed after I put the phone down. Ronald Weasley has just said those “three” words to me! Oh my god! This is the happiest moment in my bloody life. I started dancing around in the tiny room.

Thousands of miles away, a red headed boy was yelling in delight. Ginny rushed in quickly, wand at hand.

“What the h.ell…?” She started. Ron was jumping up and down on the bed.

“Wait, lemme guess big bro. you just talked to Hermione!?” Ron nodded happily. Harry walked in that moment.

“Don’t ask.” Ginny warned him. He nodded, trying to stop bursting out laughing. Ginny gave him a knowing look.

~Dinnertime at the Weasley’s

“Oi! Lover boy pass the mashed potatoes!” Fred declared for the third time. Ron dreamily glanced at him. Fleur Delacour smiled.

“Ze boi iz en luv.” She stated. George snickered at the thought. Harry was feeding bits of bread to Pig, the tiny owl. A carrot went flying down the long table and hit Ron on his stretched nose. Ginny giggled, with a secretive smile, Harry avoided eye contact with her. Ron finally snapped back.

“Wha…?” He murmured.

“Welcome back to reality from your fantasy.” George said in a singsong voice.

“Ron you really like her, don’t you?” Harry asked after dinner.

“Yes I do Harry.”

“What about Lavender?”

“Harry, I just went out with her to make Hermione jealous.”

“I think it worked.”

“Really, now for Plan ‘B’.

“Ron, you mentally crazy,”

“I know Harry, for Hermione.”

CHAPTER 2

“Arghh.”

Thump. Dead silence.

“Stupid mudblood!” “It’s all you fault!”

“If you just watched your darn way, maybe we wouldn’t have collided!” Hermione retorted crossly.

“Whatever, your just a pathetic little Gryffindor.” Stupid Slytherin, bumped into me on purpose, for heaven’s sake.

“Oh for god’s sake...” Hermione bumped into another person. Red flaming hair got on her face.

“Hermione?” The voice sounded awfully familiar.

“Yeah… Ginny?!”

“Awww!” They both screamed at the same time.

“I missed you.”

”I missed you too.”

“Where are Ron and Harry?” Hermione asked eagerly.

“Come on, I’ll show you!” Ginny replied, with the same tone as hers.

“Hermione!”

“Harry!” We both collided, giving each other a bear hug. There he came, tall, lanky, and freckled faced. Ron Weasley had a big grin on his face, he ran the rest pf the way there.

“Hermione… so great to see you again!” He exclaimed, thinking of a way to hug her. Hermione nodded.

“Yeah, you too Ron.” Before he could reply, they got interrupted.

“Nice to see the trio again.” Someone drawled. They all turned, their face falling in grim. Draco Malfoy stood there, hands in pocket, staring at them with stormy grey eyes.

“Malfoy.” Ron spat with disgust.

“The one and only, Weaselbee.” He replied grinning. He sidestepped and stood in front of Hermione. Harry stepped in, but Malfoy pushed him back.

“You look good Granger,” He said grinning, than turned into a smirk. Harry’s, Ron’s, and Ginny’s mouth fell wide open. Hermione blushed, for some weird reason and muttered, a really quick thanks. He nodded politely.

“You too, Weasley.” He added.

“EXCUSE ME!?” Ron shouted. “Not you junior Weasley.

”Oh….HEY!” Don’t go hitting on my sister!”

“Thanks Malfoy.” Ginny said smiling. Harry gave out a jealous look towards them.

“I’m not hitting on her sister; I’m merely giving her a compliment.”

“Well my time here is done, goodbye ladies.” He walked away, than turned and winked at Hermione.

“Bloody son of a b----!” Ron muttered furiously.

“Wow, when did Malfoy start been a gentleman?” Ginny asked, astonished. At that moment, nobody could answer that question.

Half a hour later, the group was in compartment 26, eating their way to Hogwarts.

“This licorice wand is delicious.” Neville stated.

“So is this cauldron cake.” Ginny said, nibbling on it.

“Cauldron cakes are said to have poisonous venom in them.” Luna Lovegood said matter of fact. Hermione rolled her eyes.

“And Pansy Parkinson is intelligent.” At the thought of that, everyone erupted with laughter. Ron was hysterical and Luna had tears in her blue eyes. It seemed like she didn’t mind about Hermione’s sarcasm. After a few minutes, Luna and Neville left, muttering about seeing their other friends. Ron scoffed loudly.

“They have no friends!”

“Ronald!” Hermione said. Ron just plainly shrugged at her.

“But I do have to say, she is a bit pathetic, isn’t she?” Hermione asked tentatively.

“Who…?”

“Luna, Ginny. She is pathetic, I tell you!”

“Just like Trelawney!” Harry said grimly.

“Haha, yeah, haha.” Ron laughed.

“Shut up Ron.” Hermione said annoyed. He looked taken aback, but didn’t say anything.

CHAPTER 3

“Hermione?”

“Hmmm.”

“Malfoy looks good this year!”

“Ginny!” I yelled in shock. She merely shrugged. It was only us girls, Ginny, Luna, and I. Luna peered over from her magazine.

“I do intend to agree with Ginny, Malfoy certainly has some looks, for a Slytherin.” Ginny and I stared at her, by surprise.

“Bloody h.ell, I be a lucky girl, if he even glances at me again!” Ginny exclaimed. All I could do was roll my eyes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“She’s got big knockers.”

“Ron! Who?” Harry asked, after thought.

“Hermione, what you reckon she is?”

“Meaning?”

“Size, dung bat.”

“Oh wait, HEY!” “By the looks of it, she’s probably a ‘B’”

How you know?”

“Ron, I’m a guy, I know these things.”

“What, so you saying I’m not a guy!?”

“Well…er…you never could be to sure.” Harry slurred. Ron punched his arm.

“Ow!”

“Got a nice body too, better than before.

“Definitely, way better than before, she was flat, sadly to mention.

“But mate, just look at her now!”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Where the boys go?”

“Dunno.”

“Probably eating.” At this comment, Luna thought it was humorous. She burst with tears of laughter. Ginny rolled her eyes impatiently.

“Uh-oh, there’s Lavender.” Lavender and Hermione seemed to glare at each other, daring not to blink. They passed each other, Hermione hitting her on the shoulder hard.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Harry and Ginny sitting on the tree S-N-O-G-G-I-N-G!”

“HERMIONE!”

“Would you bloody shut up!?”

“NO! Luna help me out here!” Luna joined in the chant.

“Argh!” Ginny yelled in frustration.

“Well at least some people are happy.” Ginny mumbled, annoyed to death.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“It’s cold Hermione!” Ginny whined. The girls were looking for an empty carriage.

“Hush Ginny, it’ll be alright.” Hermione said soothingly, acting like a caring mother.

“Fight! Fight! Fight!” A crowd chanted in the distance.

“Wonder what’s going on?” Luna wondered aloud.

“Let’s go see!” Ginny said excitedly. Anything to get her mind off the coldness, Hermione led the way.

“Neville!” The three girls exclaimed. But nobody paid attention to them, seeing the huge crowd around two dark figures. In the middle, stood Neville and another Slytherin fist-fighting. By the looks of it a seventh year.

“Come on Tony!” A Slytherin girl screeched. The guy so called Tony didn’t have any scratches, but Neville had a few on his round face.

“Oh my god, someone help him.” Luna said, wide-eyed. Us three walked closer. Ginny walked forward, but bounced back.

“They put an invisible barrier around it!” Hermione said shocked.

“Darn those Slytherins!” Tony was just standing there, a grin on his face. Where poor Neville was been beaten up. Tony threw a punch, and hit Neville on the face. Blood oozed out.

”Aww!” Someone yelled.

“Enough!” A voice screamed. This bewildered all for an instant. Someone stepped forward, and muttered something. The invisible barrier shattered, than vanished into thin air.

“D.amn it. Right where it was the good part!” People started backing off, believing their was a teacher involved now. But no, a young female stepped through the crowd and marched advance. The wind silently blew and light brown hair swept her pale face. Grayish brown eyes peered through her glasses, she ran to Neville.

“Detention, Mr. Williams, I’ll be letting McGonagall know.”

“Who are you?” Someone asked rudely.

“That’s my business, p.iss off.” She replied, just as rudely. She started to mumble spells, healing Neville’s minor cuts. The group looked traumatized at the lady who taken charge. Luna strode over, and kneeled over.

“Is he okay?” Luna asked frantically. The young woman glanced at her intently. She nodded, than stood up. She magically put Neville on a stretcher, which appeared out of nowhere. Than they both got in a carriage. The threstals were impatiently waiting. I grabbed Luna and Ginny, and headed to the nearest carriage.

CHAPTER 4

“Hermione! Ginny! Luna! Over here!”

“Harry where have you been?”

“Look Hermione, it was his entire fault.”

“Shush, the feast has begun.”

Dumbledore looked at all of them, a slight twinkle in his blue eye.

“Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. A pleasure seeing you all again.”
He paused, staring off to space, than lightly shook his head.

“Let the feast begin.” Gryffindor table erupted into applause. He raised his arm to thanks them.

“Bloody h.ell, it gets better every year.”

“Of course Ron.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Where Ginny go?” Harry asked, looking up curiously.
“To see a friend.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.” The food was looking so luscious. There were lamb chops, steak, boiled potatoes, pasta, gravy, sausages, roast chicken, and of course peppermint humbugs. Ron grabbed a little of each, gulping it all down.
“Ew, Ron.” Harry on the other hand, looked at him admirably. For desserts there were treacle tarts, trifle, jello, strawberries, another pie, ice cream, etc.
“Pass the pie Hermione.” Hermione handed it over to him.
“Ron, what are you going to….? But before she could finish her question, Ron mixed all the desserts up.
“Ron, you disgusting pig!” Seamus cut in.
“Let the guy eat.” Dean replied.
“Yeah mate good luck!” Harry approved. Ron nodded merrily.
“I need my food.” Everyone agreed at this.
Malfoy’s P.O.V.
“Malfoy?”
“What?”
“What prank you gonna pull this year?”
“Dunno Crabbe, let the mastermind think, you will!”
“Yes Draco.”
“Think bloody oafs, what can we do this year?” Goyle shut his eyes compactly, thinking hard.
Don’t think too much, or you might lose the brain cells.” Malfoy commented. Crabbe snickered aloud.
“You too rat brain.” That shut Crabbe up, for good.
“Hermione, what’s you first class?”
“Let’s see here, uh Charms Ron.”
“Awesome, I’m with you, Harry?”
“Yeah I’m in.” Hermione spread marmalade on her toast, taking a bite.
“Hermione, give me some!”
“Some what?”
“Toast.”
“Lemme make you one.”
“No hurry, from yours.
“Fine, Ron, if you must.” Hermione blushed lightly. Ron took a bite; Hermione noticed crumbs on his lips.
“Ron?” “What?”
“Here, let me see that.” Hermione gently wiped the crumbs off his freckled face. They both blushed and glanced down. Harry ran in that time, not seeing the self-conscious silence. The three of them were walking to Charms together.
“Oh guys, I forgot something. I’ll be back.” Hermione quickly said, than dashing the opposite way.
“OK…Bye to you too.”
“Harry mate, I think I’m in love.”
“That’s nice, Ron."
CHAPTER 5
"Harry, didn't you hear me?"
"Of course, you're in love."
"Harry, that's bloody serious!"
"How?"
"It just is!"
"Well, who is it?" Ron paused, taking the question in, and thoughtfully thinking.
"Hermione." Ron said simply.
"Ron i already knew that." Ron looked bewildered at the thought.
"How?"
"It was obvious."
"Really?"
"Yeah. how long have you liked her?"
"Well it's a on again, off again, thing mate. Probably for some months. What should i do?"
"It's simple."
"Really, i'm listening...?"
"Ask her out."
"All right.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The bell rang for Charms to begin, Hermione was nowhere to be seen.
Where she go?" Ron asked impatiently.
"Be patient Ron."
"All right class, shall be proceed?" Professor Flitwick asked enthusiastic. A few minutes later, Hermione and Draco barged in the room, out of breath. Everyone gave them suspicious looks at them, wondering. Professor Flitwick came out of his office.
"Aw, I'm sorry Ms. Granger and Mr. Malfoy, detention for both of you for your tardiness. Also ten points from each house."
He looked disappointed at Hermione.
Draco and her glared at each other hatefully.
CHAPTER 6
"Ron, what you think Malfoy and Hermione, coming in late together? Impossible I tell you." Harry said. Ron was quiet, and he seemed out in space.
"Ron? What do you think?"
"I don't know Harry."
"Come on let's go to Transfiguration." They had just came out of History Of Magic, a hour and half of pure boredness. This time, Hermione was actually there a bit early. Ron stared at her, sucking in her beauty.
"Blimey, never knew how pretty she was." He mumbled. Harry led the way toward where she was sitting alone. Ron sat down, the table covered with symbols and notes of the previous students, who was sitting earlier.
A minute later Malfoy strolled in the dim classroom. He sat behind Hermione, for a odd reason. The class started pouring in, filling in the empty seats. They all got out their wands, ready for the day's plans. A small black cat, sprung up, and transformed into the McGonagall we all know and love.
"I didn't know she was in here!" Ron exclaimed worried.
"Come on, come on, we don't got all day." Macon said strictly. Transfiguring snails into rubber ducks, was extremely difficult. The slimy little creature slowly crept by me. It's piercing red eyes glaring at me. I stifled a laugh, remembering, my second year. Where Ron's spell backfired, quite horribly, which lead to him vomiting snails. The memory brought tears, both filled with sadness and happiness. So much to do...so little time... I thought, sighing. I felt eyes at the back of my head, I turned, pondering. I grimaced, those eyes were boring into mine.
"Pssh, Hermione?"
"What Ron?" I said, distracted badly.
"Help us." He moaned pathetically. I glanced at their snail and giggled. On the top of the wooden desk, laid something that you really couldn't name at all. The nail turned grey to yellow in a flash. Laying on the furniture, I poked it, gingerly with my wand.
"Quack." Harry was puzzled, his scar hidden beneath the long dark bangs. I poked it again, tentatively this time.
"Quack."
"Ah Mr. Weasley and Mr. Potter, let's see what you got...?" Professor McGonagall said, peering through her spectacles. Ron grinned sheepish, and cleared this throat, embarassed. I glanced at his freckled pale face. For Some reason I wanted to strecth my hand and touch his jawline. But i got interrupted by a deadly shriek and laughter.
"Mr. Weasley, what is that?" McGonagall declared disgusted.
"Um, well Professor, you see..."
"Enough, no need to speak. You will have extra homework." With that, McGonagall nodded and walked off to another station. Ron groaned, I laughed silently. First day back and already homework.
CHAPTER 7
Ron's P.O.V.
Three hours later, Hermione, Harry, and I sauntered to go eat lunch. My stomache rawred like a vicious and hungry lion. The emptyness in my tummy was hollow, I gravely needed to eat.
There was that sweet voice again....Hermione. Oh wow, am I just realizing her presence?
"Ron?" "Ron?"
"Hmmm." I murmured. Someone leaned in.
"Mate, fix herself, you look like a mess!" I straightened up, fixing my black worned robes and my flaming red hair. My blue eyes aimlessly wondered around, Dumbledore redecorated the place.
Blue and purple fairies flew around, dazed. Bright stars and stripes sparkled throughtout the Hall. The ceiling rumbled with thunder, stormy clouds mixing and creating patterns. I sighed and silently chewed on my tongue.
CHAPTER 8
Hermione's P.O.V.
Could i really be having feelings for Ron, the Ronald Weasley. Come on, after all he was my best friend apart from Harry. I stole a quick glance at Ron, his food untouched. I sighed, and next looked at Harry. He had a grin on his face.
What's his problem? I thought disturbed. Lunch ended, and all three of us seperated. I headed over to Ancient Runes. Ron and Harry waved goodbye, off to Divination.
Harry's P.O.V.
"So I saw you thinking, about Hermione huh?" I asked Ron, surprisingly. He blushed a shade of pink, refusing to make eye contact with me. I saw him glance at me, out of the corner of his eye, I smirked. Ron muttered something, which I didn't quite catch.
"Sorry, didn't really catch that?" I said grinning. Ron just walked ahead. Pretty ssoon the conversation died, both of us lost into our own thoughts. We passed paintings, after paintings. I stopped at a particular painting, studying it good.
I could have sworn I saw a pair of emerald eyes hidden in there, somewhere. I shook my head, confused.
Still Harry's P.O.V.
"Fifteen more minutes." Ron said through gritted teeth. After forty-five minutes in Divination. I thought I was going to die. We were predicting our futures. So far Ron was going to get married at the age of 55 and die 89. His career would be a ballerina teacher and he teaches five year olds, ballet. But the hilarious part was that he dances with a pink tutu. Neville actually broke his china glass bowl, after hearing this. Seamus Finnigan laughed out loud. Getting dirty looks from Parvati and Lavender.
"There comes the old hag." Ron grumbled. I stifled a laugh.
"Oh dear." Trelawny exclaimed.
"What am I going to die soon?" I asked sarcastically.
"No dear, something more better." She cleared her throat.
"A survival of a certain someone actually." She stated. I took the bowl from her. Together Ron and I stared at the green bowl. Inside a cloudy image was to be seen. A image of a certain shaggy dog.
Snuffles?
CHAPTER 9
“Five…four…three… two…one!” A loud ring could have been heard throughout Hogwarts.
“Yes!” I shouted, than sprinted out the Ancient Runes classroom, to the Gryffindor common room, and up to the girl’s dormitory. First day of school was officially over, well at least the classes, I thought. Finally for the first time in her life, Hermione Granger was glad to have a little time to spend some alone time.
I grabbed a nearby abandoned book and skipped out the common room and walked out the school doors. I sighed, feeling the light breeze, which flew through my bushy brown hair. I sat under the lofty oak tree. It was the perfect tree, I’ll have to say.
Later when I was heading back to go find Ginny, I slid across the floor. I grabbed the banister close by, and balanced my trembling feet. I moved on, a sound echoed around the walls. I immediately slowed my pace down and utterly bunged. Subsequently looking behind me was there somebody behind me, I wondered.
I continued my way, hearing that noise once for a second time. This time, I searched, but found not a single thing. I looked down and gasped stridently. In my footsteps were pools of blood everywhere. I checked the bottom of my black flats and there too was traced were blood. I ran at back to where I started, and examined it.
It didn’t look like ordinary blood to me, I sniffed it cautiously. Than took out a small clear bottle and dipped it against the blood to have a sample of this kind. I just figured out, what kind of blood this kind was.
It was exceedingly rare, and it was from a mythical and extraordinary creature. It was…
CHAPTER 10
“A unicorn…” answered Headmistress McGonagall. I gulped timidly, I knew it! Two hours later, I was in the hospital wing trying to figure out this vagueness of this incident. Professor Slughorn analyzing the unicorn blood vigilantly. McGonagall was as alarmed as I was.
“Ms. Granger, you have to keep this experience silent now and confirm me this place soon.” I nodded, this was all to myself, and these two teachers. I dashed to the library, to dig in some information. Thirty-six minutes later I read three chapters of two books, next began skimming it hastily. Jointing down notes, that appeared appealing to me.
"Unicorns are mythical creature which are stunning, rare, and beyond prevailing. The blood of it, so extraordinary, an inimitable device…special remedy for heals…and wounds…Elixir of Life.”
I impeded right there and revised that small section.
Elixir of Life.
I hurriedly grasped my things and checked out the book with my Hogwarts library card.
“Pin number?” Madam Pince asked, suspiciously staring at the book.”
“612922.” I answered courteously.
“Put in your password.” She required next. I exhaled, aggravated by now. “I put in ‘gprincessgranger’ in.
“Due in two weeks, don’t get it overdue.” Pince said. I gawked at her skeptical. Two weeks? What happened to whenever you’re done with it? I left, wanting to ask Harry some severe questions.
CHAPTER 11
I visited Neville at the Hospital Wing, curious to see if he was good enough to exist. There Slughorn gave me the results of the tests. He than gave me an invitation to one of his club fan parties. I put on a fake smile and politely said thank you, than rolling my eyes.
During dinner Harry and I discussed about the Elixir of Life. Nicolas Flaming, I needed to talk to one of his remaining descendants. But how will I stumble on that certain person? They could be anywhere, any place.
Ron’s P.O.V.
“Just ask her out Ron, your driving me nuts!” Harry yelled in the common room, after dinner, Hermione left to retrieve her homework, which was thankfully upstairs. It was unusually taking her a long time though. I ruffled my red mop of hair, a famous trademark I impure from Harry and his father. It was contagious, every boy was doing it.
Anyways, what was I talking about? Oh yes, Hermione yeah. I was getting frustrated by bow, every time I saw her I melt like scorching chocolate. I received this warm fuzzy feeling, which left me tingling. Oh darn, these are what girls think, not guys. I expressed my deep feelings to Harry. He rolled his eyes, and grinned first.
Next he said, “That’s what love is about Ron Weasley.” I nodded, distracted by a girl pulling her shirt slightly up. Harry gave me a knowing look and put on a secretive smile.
“Alright let’s do some homework.” I looked up and excited to see Hermione…wait? Was that makeup? Hermione Granger never wears make up, except in fourth year with ruddy Krum. But that was in the past. Surely she didn’t remember by now, nor did she? I grew frantic; Hermione remembers everything, every tiny little piece of detail. That’s why I love her, her smartness makes me smile.
“So you guys do know this is my last day here, right? She tentatively said. This shocked me out of my thought and my attention only to her.
“What?” I asked incredibly. This couldn’t be, please God no!
“Oh yeah you two, came in late.” Hermione said. Harry leaned in to take note better, the racket of the other first years were hard to hear.
“Well I made the headgirl position, so I will be living with the headboy now.” She said it like it was a everyday conversion topic. I stupidly started at her hazel orbs, brilliantly immaculate with pride next to the lamp. The fireplace roared with airborne blaze.
“So it’s your last time in here?” Harry asked. She nodded.
“But you will help us with our homework?” he asked next.
Hermione chuckled and smiled big. “You guys! I’m not moving. I’ll just be in another part of Hogwarts. Don’t worry, I’ll come and visit.”
“Promise?” I finally found my voice; she needed to say yes, her answer was better.
“Of course, wouldn’t miss it for anything.” Hermione replied.
“Good!” Harry and I said in unison.
“Now lets continue with our homework.” I nodded, even though I didn’t agree with her entirely. But seeing her brighten face smiling brightened my day, so I wanted it to keep it that way.
Harry connected tow and two slowly. “I think I’ll head up to bed.” He said, fake yawning. He than clapped my back, and vanished beneath the boy’s dormitory doors. I relaxed into my armchair, getting comfortable. This was good some alone time with Hermione, maybe I said that to fast, because the next second Ginny sat down, gasping.
I shot a suspicious look at her. She innocently stared back at me. Giggling went over and whispered something to my beloved Hermione.
Hermione joined in with the giggling. I grew more curious now, I straightened up.
“Excuse us.” With that both girls disappeared into the shadows. Here I was left with first years playing exploding snap.
CHAPTER 12
The next few days were hectic, with Hermione moving out and finding out that Malfoy, the Slytherin prince was to be the headboy.
"How could they even think of him as a possible choice?" Harry mumbled disgusted.
"Harry remember, they chose your father. Anything is possible, especially in Hogwarts," Hermione wiped her forehead. Ron next, collapsed on the floor.
"There that was the last box." Ron said huffing.
"Thanks." Hermione replied, a small smile playing at her lips. Ron nodded, his sky blue eyes twinkled. All Harry could do was shake his head, behind Hermione's back.
Two weeks passed in Hogwarts. Classes were advanced and challenged than last year. Everybody was struggling, even Ms. Granger was. It will be very late when students finished their homework, and dawn when they started.
"We're wasting a perfect Sunday." Ron grumbled. It was afternoon, and the famous trio was sitting under their favorite all time tree.
Harry was swinging on the branches, avoiding his pile of homework beneath him. Hermione was mute, too distracted and engrossed by her Astronomy project, which was due the following day.
"Look who it is, Pothead and Weasel." A harsh voice rang out throughout the place. They didn't need to figure out that familiar voice. For some odd reason, Hermione was left out.
"Get lost Malfoy, we'll call you if we need a bouncing ferret." Harry replied coldly, jumping down from the branches. Crabbe and Goyle marched closer, cracking their knuckles. But Malfoy beckoned them to immediately stop. Malfoy walked near, right by Hermione.
"Having fun Granger?" He asked quietly. She blushed and didn't respond. Ron threw a jealous stare; while Harry was confused at the way those two were acting together.
Nobody noticed the slip of paper that fell in Hermione's bag.
With that Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle left, Malfoy winking at Hermione. Ron hastily turned and glared at Hermione.
"What was that about?" He asked angrily.
Hermione and Ginny were in the girl's restroom, talking to each other. Normally, on a daily basis, they never had a chance to talk, especially in private.
"So he's your friend?" Ginny asked smirking.
"Well no, I mean yes." Hermione stammered in a weird way. All Ginny did was nod.
"A friend with benefits?"
"GINNY!" Ginny rolled around the cement floor laughing. Next she ran out the girl's restroom door, Hermione right after her.
But these two girls didn't realize that there was someone with them. Someone in the names of Moaning Myrtle.
"I think Ron knows Ginny."
"What how could he know?"
Ginny and I were relaxing under the tree, just having another of those girl talks. We than ran over, pulled off our flats and leggings, and splashed out feet into the cool water. Ginny threw her remaining toast into the lake. It was Sunday, and both girls were done with their homework.
"I don't know, it's just he keeps giving me this look, every time I look at Malfoy."
"Hermione, Ron always gives that look, you know he's jealous." Hermione, considered this. Yes, she did like him, but what are the chances with Lavender going around. She was still in love with Ron, but Ron didn't seem to notice her at all. Hermione nodded.
"Look if you like Ron, than go for it, but I'll say go for Malfoy." Hermione's jaw dropped, here is Ron's own related sister, saying to go to the enemy's side, besides her own brother.
"Don't you care about your brother's feelings?" Hermione asked in disbelief. Ginny merely shrugged.
"Yeah I do, but this is man versus man and we all know who the bigger man in between Ron and Draco is."
Hermione giggled, she got one thing right, if she says so herself.
CHAPTER 13
“Harry, do you think there is anything going around?” Ron asked. Monday morning and they were at breakfast. One week of being in Hogwarts has passed already.
“What do you mean?” Harry replied curiously, munching on some toast.
“With Hermione, she seems a bit off.” Harry shrugged, a few minutes later Hermione approached. The boys were silent, and she shot a questioning look, but didn’t say anything. Clara, a petite pretty Gryffindor, sat next to her. Her long blonde hair tied up in a cute ponytail. Her blue eyes were like a pool of deep-sea, effortlessly getting lost in them.
“What the bloody h3ll happened here?” Ron hollered. It was just ruined, merely ruined. It was a canvas of Yolanda Smith, a magician’s daughter.
“Something’s going on!” Harry mumbled distracted.
“You think?” Hermione replied sarcastically. They didn’t notice a pair of red eyes, which was observing them intently.
“Granger what are you doing here?” Malfoy rudely asked the next day in their headquarters. He was lazily lying on the plush sofa, arms behind his oversized head.
“Well this is my place too Malfoy.” She retorted, with the similar tone. She smirked, a knowing smirk.
“Whatever, I’m heading to the library room.” Malfoy snorted lightly. She walked off and he yelled.
“Have fun!”
“I certainly will!” She yelled back. Thirty minutes later Hermione still couldn’t find the book she was so desperately looking for. Hermione felt something warm against her and quietly gasped. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted blonde hair.
“Looking for this?” A voice said, tickling her war gently. Malfoy and Hermione were a bit to close. Just a little bit. She began to feel uncomfortable at the position. He handed her the book. It dawned on him that she indeed was nervous at the space enclosed between them, obviously. Her breathing got harder, till she noticed that Malfoy stepped away. She turned around, seeing him disappear from view.
On Wednesday evening, Ron and Harry were heading back to the common room. After a delicious and hot dinner. The October breeze felt chilly against their skin, as they shut the windows down.
The fireplace was dying out, as Harry added more logs onto the pit. Once again the fire was roaring again.
They slowly started their Herbology chart. Drawing strange plants and labeling them.
“Mandamus Tae, is the deadly viper plant that heals certain creatures.” Ron read out loud.
CHAPTER 14
Halloween was certainly a interesting and fun day to come. The last day of October ought to be enjoyed of course. The Great Hall was coated with beautiful objects. Pumpkins and bats were placed magnificently, shining gold and silver confetti blew about. White snowflakes gently fell from the enchanted sky, showering students with them.
Hermione and Draco had to help to prepare for the activities to occur. At six they woke planning for the circumstances for that night.
“Malfoy you’re doing it all wrong!” Hermione yelled for the umpteenth time that morning. They didn’t have classes that day due to their Head duties of course. Malfoy was exceptionally glad to hear the news. “Tell me what I am doing wrong now?” Malfoy asked sneering. Hermione was very hard to please. Everything had to be in the best order and in tip top shape. Hagrid already had most of the larger things covered, the only thing that was missing was the Hogwarts students and food. Hermione started off again telling Malfoy how to do this and that.
He replied too by rolling his eyes.
“Honestly it seems like you don’t care!” Hermione said.
“Honestly woman, I really don’t.” Malfoy retorted. It was three o’clock when they finished their exhausting job. They flopped onto the ground weary by the day’s work.
“Alright see you there.” Hermione mumbled, about to go get ready. The Halloween dinner was actually to be a Halloween ball. It is going to be a surprise. Both Headboy and Headgirl was informed merely an hour ago of this piece of news.
“Granger you do remember what McGonagall said right?” “Was I that part about us standing guard together?” Malfoy shook his head meaning no. “No, the part was where we have to dance every few minutes or so?” Hermione raised her eyebrows in disbelief. She didn’t recall that part at all. But she really wasn’t paying attention to the Headmistress so she really didn’t know.
“It can’t be.” Hermione murmured, groaning. “It is.” Malfoy answered. Than thinking or is it? Patting him mentally, thinking this was the perfect plan. Of course McGonagall said no suck thing of them dancing together. She knew very well that Hermione and Draco loathed each other very much indeed.
Or did they?
Three hours later Hermione emerged out dressed in her formal dress robes. Draco stepped out in the same time wearing his. His was delicate green color. This matched his superior Slytherin pride perfectly. They glanced at each other briefly, noticing that each looked good. With one quick step Draco needed towards the Great Hall for the Halloween feast. Hermione was trailing right behind him.
Already many people were seated awaiting the night to unravel. This was one free nigh where you can seat whichever table you want. Instead of the House tables, there were rounded tables just like OW.L.S. Year. As a replacement for of exams lay on the tables, there was delicious looking food. An hour passed, than two. Finally McGonagall stood up to announce the surprise.
CHAPTER 15
“This year at Hogwarts we will host an annual Hogwarts Ball.” All the girls looked up eagerly, while the guys frowned and some groaned. “This is a formal ball so please do act like a civilized person should.” McGonagall got cut off by a Ravenclaw girl. “But we have no dresses to wear!” McGonagall smiled briefly than continued. “No problem, thanks to our headgirl Ms. Hermione Granger who provided the school with dressed. Also our headboy Mr. Draco Malfoy who provided better dress robes.”
“Sweet.” mumbled Ron. “Shall we begin?” McGonagall asked. “Hear, hear!” Boys shouted.
“Ladies follow Ms. Granger and gentlemen follow Mr. Malfoy. Hermione led the way, while giggling girls followed behind. “This is it!” Hermione announced. All the girls gasped, even Hermione was impressed by the show. Rows and rows of stunning dressed were in view. All in different sizes, shapes, and colors, ready for the owner to choose the desired dress. In two minutes half the dresses were gone from their racks.
Hermione still haven’t picked her dress out so she kept looking around. Finally she settled on a strapless gown. It seemed like it was just hiding there. Waiting for her to pick it up and wear it. But she saved it and hidden it beneath some boxes. Hoping it wouldn’t catch any girl’s attention. Next she helped with the girl’s high heels or flats. Than jewelry, and finally make up.
When Ron saw Hermione that night, he was absolutely speechless. Of course the first dance was with Malfoy, or so she thought. Hermione was the last one out into the Great Hall., or else known as the Ballroom for that certain night. Hermione was dressed in a gorgeous satin gown with a short train. The bodice was fully hand decorated with faux beads. It was just perfect. Way to perfect.
CHAPTER 16
Ginny was down there as well staring at Hermione as she stepped down the flight of enchanted stairs.
“Stunning Miss Granger.” She cheerfully said, admiring the beauty of the dress. “Yours is more stunning Miss Weasley.” Hermione replied back. A friendly argument was about to begun but Harry and Ron stepped in.
“Ladies…” Harry said, nodding at both of them. Eyeing Ginny carefully, while she blushed crimson.
“Harry…” Both girls began. Ron was still mute, unable to speak at all, with Hermione staring at him.
“Shall we?” Harry asked Ginny and they both linked arms, strolling away to dance. Ron coughed nervously, his blue eyes looking anywhere except Hermione. The silence grew uncomfortable, and Hermione was about to walk away, when Ron stopped her.
“Umm, want to dance?” Ron asked a deep shade of red creeping onto his ears. Hermione smiled happily. Finally, she thought. After seven years he asked. She was about to accept his offer, but noticed someone frantically waving their arms at her. Hermione quirked her eyebrow and looked. Malfoy was ten feet away from her, pointing to the clock. She glanced at the large golden clock and sighed. Of course, how can she forget? The first dance was with Malfoy, how great that is. She looked at Ron, which his hopeful eyes and nervous grin. She slowly bend her head and declined the offer, apologizing. He stared at her, crestfallen.
Than turned and walked off, without looking back at her. Hermione watched with interest, as he glumly sat down and Dean gave him a bottle of butterbeer to drink. Poor Ron, she thought as she walked over to Malfoy carefully. Malfoy and Hermione were about to begin to dance when the pace of the song changed into a slower one. Hermione’s eyes widen, at the thought of her and Malfoy that close to each other. But it had to be done. Malfoy gently grasped Hermione’s hand, and put his other hand on her waist. Hermione put her left hand on his left shoulder. Surprised at how strong and firm it was. Nearby Luna and Neville was slow dancing as well. Luna with a unique dress, a mixture of colors blended in throughout the patterns of her dress.
CHAPTER 17
Just as fast how the dance started, it ended. Malfoy let go her hand, but kept a firm hand on her waist. Both started at one other, not breaking the intense eye contact. Unfortunately it broke, when Ron came storming up, grabbing her hand, and leading her away. With Malfoy's arm falling to his side. The next time Hermione saw Malfoy was when she saw him dancing with Pansy Parkinson.
Truth be told, he looked bored. He didn't notice when Pansy looked down at her dress and whispered something. Seconds later her dress would be shorter by several inches, than the previous minute. Hermione had one word in her thoughts that moment and so did other girls. Ron and Hermione danced for the rest of the night, with onlookers praising them. Midnight slowly approached, and couples began to vanish, who knows where, Hermione and Ron sauntered around the peaceful lake. All the bushes were preoccupied of course.
"Time to head back." Ron mumbled, not agreeing with his words, at all. Hermione nodded and slightly yawned. They walked the trail back inside the castle. But swiftly Ron had Hermione against a tree.
"Hermione...Will you...?"
Ten minutes later the two best friends were in front of Hermione's Head common room door. They nervously look around, examining objects.
"I should be going." Hermione finally stuttered. Ron said yes and kissed her cheek. Hermione couldn't take it anymore; she grabbed his tie and snogged the living daylights out of him.
They were officially a Hogwarts couple. Ron asked her out when they were having a midnight stroll. She was so excited at the possibility of them been together that she forgot the rest of the night.
Hermione walked into an unpleasant sight. Another one of the Hogwarts couple was snogging passionately. Hermione observed this scene closely; it looked like Malfoy was drunk. So Pansy was taking advantage of him greatly.
Over the past few days Malfoy and Hermione’s friendship increased severely. There were still the small quarrels but it decreased from the previous years. It was her job to help him out from that spot. She quietly slipped up to her room and grabbed her wand.
“Quagnog.” Hermione muttered into her wand. The room froze for a moment, and suddenly Draco stood up.
“What the bloody…? Pansy why are you…? Why am I…? What is going on?” He finally shouted, confusion written on his face.
Hermione has done her job, it was time to leave. But for some reason, she stayed put, hungrily watching the incident.
“Nothing Draco love.” Pansy purred. Malfoy glared at her hatefully and gulped when she pulled him closer and laid him on the couch.
CHAPTER 18
Another make out session went on as Hermione watched disgusted. A tingly sensation kept running through her veins, could it be…it couldn’t.
Malfoy quickly pushed Pansy away. Pansy flopped back on the couch. She exhaled heavily.
“Draco…Draco…Draco…what can we do with you? She asked.
A week passed by and the news of Ron and Hermione being a couple has spread through the castle like wildfire. All around were gossiping and rumors.
Lavender practically blew up by hearing the news.
“This is outrageous!” She screeched during breakfast one morning. Under the supervision of Parvati, she was trying to soothe her.
“How dare he? How dare she? Taking him away from me. I’ll show him…filthy bat.” On and on she droned, saying pathetic stuff, while Hermione watched amused. Hermione headed back to her common room, feeling lonely. Ron was always there for her, but she wanted something else. Malfoy hasn’t spoken to her either, ever since that faithful night. Hermione didn’t mind, but it was irritating when she walked into a room and he walked out. The girl wondered what could possibly make him feel that way and why he was ignoring her.
“Malfoy?”
“What Granger…?” She stared at him, giving him a long stare. No matter what, he just won’t look at her.
“Look at me!” She demanded fiercely. He glanced up and their eyes met briefly. Electricity shot up and down Hermione and her veined boiled warmly. What was with this guy that made him so mysterious?
“Protego!” They were in Defense against the Dark Arts class. Defense spells were flying everywhere. Harry dodged a spell, while Ron got hit with it. Hermione giggled, trying not to laugh out loud. He grinned at her, giving her a goofy look. While Harry was laughing, rolling on the floor.
“Boys, Ms. Granger, calm down please!” they nodded, keeping their laughter in, their eyes watering.
Hermione sat in her corner of the library, reading a rather large book. But her eyes were in thee same section, nonmoving. Ginny ran in quickly in search for Hermione. She found her in the exact position from the last few days.
“Hermione! There you are! I have a question, are you avoiding Ron?” The girl looked up to the redhead girl, pondering this question and shook her head no.
Then why does he think that? Personally I think that too, you’re always busy when he wants to do something! By the way do you remember what today is? It’s your anniversary!” Ginny babbled on, as Hermione grew shocked. She rushed out the library to prepare a special dinner with Ronald, as Ginny yelled at her back.
CHAPTER 19
“Bye Ron, I’ll miss you!” Hermione shouted, pretending to get tearful. Ron and the rest of the Weasley family were going to go visiting in Romania, to see Charlie and the dragons. Harry waved as well, kissing Ginny before she departed into the Hogwarts Express. Hermione turned away as Ron tried to kiss her, while he frowned, she waved one last time. Next her and Harry headed back to the castle for lunch and to chat.
Hermione was lying on the couch, her eyes closed; she couldn’t sleep so she thought being in the common room would help. Someone was breathing heavily on her face, she thought she imagined it. But no…there it goes again.
“Malfoy!” Hermione screamed into his face. He smirked, and sat in an armchair, across from her. Hermione gasped at how close they were, just a few moments ago. The past month was incredible without Malfoy constantly snagging at her. But today of all days and nights he had to bother her.
“Still going out with Weaselbee?” He drawled. Hermione blushed, that innocent question made her think.
“Yes.” She replied coldly. He nodded. “Thought so, but Granger even you could do better. Get yourself a real man, won’t you.” Hermione wondered what he could be talking about.
“Well I could show you…” he said, smirking.
“Like how?” Hermione asked questioning. The next second he was by her side.
“Like this….?”
The next ten days without Ron was spectacular for Hermione. Christmas was fantastic without all the Hogwarts students. Malfoy and she spent the whole time together, sometimes sharing kisses and just been with each other.
Hermione was obvious to the fact, that she was still currently with Ron, but now it didn’t matter, she was finally free. But when she got back from the holidays, she didn’t know where to go and what to do.
CHAPTER 20
But Harry became suspicious of Hermione’s strange attitude. It will be late when she fell asleep and when she awoke Hermione had bags of eyeliner, tired and worn out like a fragile doll.
“Hermione you alright?”
“Huh Harry?” yeah I’m well thanks, why?” Hermione asked Harry, pondering if he knew anything.
“No reason, you’re just acting peculiar. Must be a trick of the mind or something like that.” He said.
“Oh okay then.” They both ran to the train stationed near the village.
“Hermione!” “Harry!” Both Weasleys ran toward their loves ones. All four hugged each other tightly, never wanting to let go. Ginny and Harry immediately began kissing passionately, while Ron stared at Hermione awkwardly. Holding hands Harry and Ginny strolled back to the castle, and Hermione and Ron followed. Behind a nearby lone tree, Malfoy watched just wishing for one day that we could spent time with Hermione without the world hating on both of them. It was time to take action, even though he only hung out with her for ten days, Malfoy felt like he knew her forever. That without Hermione life was impossible. Of course he be as well as dead if people knew he if was hanging out with the mudblood.
Ron and Hermione were having their alone time when suddenly Hermione’s skirt’s pocket got warm. “H-Hermione?” Ron mumbled, exasperated since that was the tenth disruption that evening. It was mid-January and they were in the Gryffindor Common Room.
“Sorry Ron, Head Duties you know, I’ll just meet you up later tomorrow.” Hermione said, rolling her eyes behind his back. Ron sighed, and then agreed.
“Alright then.” He leaned over and kissed Hermione lightly on the cheek, while she cringed. He pretended not to notice while he began doing it again. Hermione pushed him away once again. Next she exited and walked back to the Head Common Room. It was obvious that she was lying so then she can meet up with Malfoy, but this time it was unexpected, he knew that she was busy this time of the day, but it was must urgent for him to call her over.
“Draco…?” Hermione said breathless, ten minutes later. “What happened? I thought something grave happened to you or something else or maybe...”the look on his face silenced her.
“Hermione, we need to talk.”
“Oh?” Draco nodded.
“Sit.” Hermione obeyed without delay, surprised at his tone. Draco sat also, across from her.
“Hermione, when are you going to do it? When are you going to leave him for me? I thought we had something special. It’s almost February Hermione, it’s about time you say something.” Draco paused, and then started again. “Wait I get it, do you prefer him over me? Or what?” he slowed down; staring at the girl he loved.
“Draco…I don’t know. Ron really loves me, and how do I know you love me also? I mean you always tortured me and called me mudblood.” Draco thought about this. “Hermione, the last few weeks with you were completely amazing I tell you. I never felt like this with another girl, believe me. If this was really a joke, don’t you think I would have stopped it a long time ago?” Hermione quickly stood up, not taking it anymore. “Draco let me think this out, okay?” With that she ran out. Who knew where and how long? The blonde stared after her, long after she was gone. He walked the opposite direction of her, thinking, just thinking.
CHAPTER 21
“Hermione! Over here!” Ron shouted. Hermione smiled, heading over to Ron and Harry. It was early in the morning and she and Draco haven’t spoken since four days ago. She glanced up, eyeing Draco carefully. Signaling him to look at her, but stubborn that he was, he refused. Hermione slightly pouted, thinking what she could have done. She sipped her orange juice, and then choked. Ron stood, patting her back heavily.
“I’m fine Ron.” She answered irritated. Then more annoyed as the Great Hall looked over at her, some faces with concern others with laughter. Hermione grabbed a toast and headed to the library. While Ron was yelling at her to get back, but she ignored him and walked on. In the library, she went over to the corner. Everyone knew that was her little place, so they didn’t stray over there. Hermione thought back to the winter holidays. Where it was just Draco and her…her and Draco…with that she fell into a light sleep.
***Back to Winter Holidays***
*Flashback*
“Draco! Come one! Give it to me!” Hermione screeched, chasing Draco around. Draco was laughing at the hysterical girl. “Come and get it!” he shouted. Dodging her easily m and moving to the left. “Admit it, I’m good.” Draco boasted. “Never!” Hermione replied giggling. He ran over to where she was, and picked her up. Next he slung her over his shoulder, while her small fists beat on his back. He dumped her on the couch, sitting next to her closely. “Hermione you know what I want in return?” he asked smoothly. Hermione blushed, and then nodded. “I know, and you’ll get it once I get my book back!” she exclaimed stubbornly. Draco sighed in a defeated way, and gave her book back.
“Now?” he asked hopefully, she nodded, while he leaned in. Hermione leaned in also, but quickly instead of giving him a kiss, she stuffed a Hershey kiss in his mouth.
“Hey!” he said his mouth muffled with chocolate. He coughed slightly and stared at the piece of candy incredulously. “What is this?” He murmured.
“Draco silly, its muggle candy. Oh of course, you wouldn’t know that.” Hermione glance at Draco’s face, worried since he had a weird look upon himself. “Are you alright there?” She asked, Draco looked up, disbelief on his face features.
“This, this candy…it’s amazing.” He chomped it down like an eager little boy. Hermione laughed for a good time and Draco pouted. “You’re teasing me!” he exclaimed.
“No, no!” Hermione denied in between laughs.
Then she saw herself and Draco in the Room of Requirements. Under the mistletoe snogging…holding hand and just been with each other. Near the fire, common room, lake, library, room of requirements, the Great Hall. Whenever it was they were always together and best was no one was there to insult them or hurt them in any kind of way.
Hermione woke up a good hour later, rubbing her eyes she sat up. She sighed, her life was truly ruined. She was with a guy who she didn’t love, the guy she did love was mad at her…and she was just plainly confused.
Ron or Draco…Draco or Ron…? Seriously it shouldn’t take this long to figure out who she loved more then anything. But both of them deserved the truth and Hermione was determined to give it to them. She paced the corridors, back and forth, back and forth. Sighing with irritation she headed back to her room, sleep within her.
CHAPTER 22
“Granger…” somebody called her name…thinking it was a Slytherin only to taunt her Hermione didn’t turn around. “Granger…” They called again, an urge in the voice. But wait…it sounded familiar. Turning quickly, Hermione bumped into Malfoy. After two week did she finally look into his face, she truly did miss him. She was happy that he finally wanted to talk to her and get back with her. But that wasn’t the reason at all she found out later on. Hermione was about to reply, saying how she missed him but he cut her off.
“Stay near your window around ten. You’re getting something.” With that he stormed off into the opposite direction of the castle…which lead to who knew where and why. But Hermione didn’t care at all…or did she?
“Hermione…you okay?” Ron said.
“Fine Ronald…” She said, sighing. At that moment Draco happened to past by and Hermione grabbed Ron’s collar snogging him feverish. Draco scowled not able to do any thing just waiting until that day was over and night approached. Neither of them concentrated in their classes either. By the time Transfiguration rolled by both Headboy and Headgirl lost 20 points together by being off task.
“Ms. Granger! What has been going on your mind nowadays? Look at your meek rat. Pathetic, a first year could do better.” Thinking this insult will make Hermione pay attention and do better; Professor McGonagall strolled off to yell at another batch of students in her class. But she was wrong. Hermione laid her head on the table, snoozing off again. Harry and Ron gave each other looks, wondering what was going on with their friend too.
“Harry, you don’t think she is depressed, do you?” Ron said intimidate. Harry looked bewildered at the thought, and shook his head.
“You got to be bloody kidding mate, Hermione? Perhaps about her grades but besides that what could be troubling her? Oh wait. She’s a girl. Everything bothers her.” Harry laughed at his little joke, but Ron wasn’t amused. He was worried about his girlfriend and he thought that it could have been his fault that he done something wrong to make her angry or sad, what could he have possibly done to make her feel like this?
Hermione strolled back and forth in her room, anticipating something any minute now. A minute later, something was tapping on the window lightly. Finally, she thought. Running toward the window she pulled open the latch, the window opening. The wind blew in the room, making her shiver. An owl flew in, dropping a letter onto her bed and then flying away. Jumping onto her bed she grabbed it quickly and ripped it open. Reading it tears fell from her chocolate eyes. This is what the letter said.
Dear Granger,
It’s over. Whatever that happened between me and you were completely a waste of time. I didn’t know what I was doing. Something spiked my drink and I acted like a total moron. Forget about everything that happened. You mean nothing to me. So get over it
.
D.
Gasping she rushed to the bathroom and vomited all over the floor before she got a chance to go near the sink or toilet. Sinking down onto her knees she burst out crying. Hermione knew it was stupid to cry and she just should get over the fact that he didn’t like her but she couldn’t. Not now, not forever.
With swollen eyes Hermione proceeded down to the Great Hall keeping her head down, so no one would glance at her. As usual no one did. Except Draco, who looked curiously at her wondering what was wrong with the girl. Then he remembered and put his head down in shame. Pansy Parkinson cooed over him, wondering what was wrong with her so called boyfriend.
“Head duties.” Draco muttered. Pansy nodded, understanding every bit.
“Of course, being with that mudblood 24/7 made you like this. Why don’t know come over to my place?” she said, winking at him slyly. Crabbe and Goyle, Draco’s cronies glanced at her in disgust but wishing that someday she asked them that question. Draco sighed, Pansy thinking she was going to get rejected pouted.
“Sure Pansy. What time?” Pansy’s eyes got wide with happiness.
“Anytime.” She said, trying to be seductive. Draco nodded.
“Of course, I’ll be there.”
Draco rushed to Slytherin Common Room later on that evening, dabbing a bit of cologne onto the collar of his shirt he knocked on the door. A slim pale hand slid out, grabbing his shirt and pulling him in roughly. It was going to be a long night.
“Ginny I need your help.”
“Anything…what is it Hermione?” Hermione sighed, it’s been a long day and she just wanted peace. Ginny and she talked for a good hour.
“I just don’t think it’s working with Ron and I. I mean of course I love him and all, but I think he loves me more then I love him. But he deserves so much more, you know!” Ginny nodded her head, understanding.
“It’s okay Hermione, I’m here for you. We’ll take it step by step. Here drink this.” Ginny handed her a goblet and Hermione sloshed it down sighing before she fell asleep. The redhead girl looked at her friend sadly. She didn’t know what the heck was going on but she needed to figure it out before it all went chaos.
CHAPTER 23
Hermione woke up, getting dressed. She glanced at her reflection, not feeling like completely dressing up she strolled out the room with her head down, just with her Hogwarts uniform. No make up or nothing. Her hair was in a messy bun, and she was fine with that. A few Ravenclaws looked at her curiously, Hermione was the type of girl this year to dress up and all. But she looked plain as she was the year before. Hurrying she sat next to Ginny, grabbing some toast to nibble on.
“Whoa Hermione, here use this.” Ginny handed her a wet tablecloth and Hermione wiped her face carefully checking her face in the back of her spoon. She looked completely a mess. Not her usual self.
“I’m going to go and take a walk.” Ginny nodded watching Hermione walk away from the table.
The next time Ginny saw Hermione was in lunch, where she dropped by quickly eating soup. It was weird but the owls came in circling the Hall mail in their beaks.
“Whoa look at that!” Neville said, gasping. Some Gryffindors looked up, noticing a flock of owls flying around looking for the right owners. “Aren’t they a bit late?” Neville said, looking at the ceiling. Ginny and Hermione and a couple of others looked up as well, nodding their heads, “That’s why the owls are late; they are usually in during breakfast.” He said.
“It’s the weather Neville, blew the poor birds of their routes.” Luna said. Dean nodded.
“Yeah she’s right. The weather is so bad, just looking at the ceiling you can tell. Hopefully the owls can safely travel throughout this week.” Dean said. Hermione didn’t notice a gray owl in front of her until it pecked her finger.
“The winds broke their routes.” Parvati said. Hermione didn’t notice a gray owl in front of her until it bit her on the finger.
“Ouch, d@mn owl.” The owl started pecking at the juicy sausages. Hermione got the mail out and put a sickle into its pouch. The owl hooted happily and flew away into the chilly weather. The owl hooted its approval and flew off. Hermione took the inside stuff out of the envelope quickly, opening up the newspaper. A small crowd gathered around her so she can read an article out of the Daily Prophet.
“The Daily Prophet, excellent.”
“Go on Hermione, read something. They’re bound to tell the truth now.” Seamus said. The tiny group huddled around about to listen to Hermione read aloud an article. But all Hermione did was gasp and knock down her goblet of pumpkin juice. With that she ran out the Great Hall in a hurry grabbing her stuff. Ginny instantly make the pumpkin juice disappear. Neville sighed, in relief.
“That was weird.” said Dean Thomas.
“Harry, Harry! Look at this. Have you seen this?” Hermione exclaimed loudly, gushing over the newspaper. Harry was in a Quidditch practice. He blew the whistle to signal time out.
“Take five.” He shouted. Caitlyn a sixth year, chaser, sighed happily getting off her Nimbus two thousand broomstick. Others summoned hot chocolate out of thin air drinking it carefully.
Harry glanced at the newspaper, his hands shaking. Ron flew by, hovering right over his shoulder. Hermione looked at both boys nervously, trying to figure out their expressions. Harry had a cup of hot chocolate in his hands, which fell from his hand and onto the ground. It sloshed all over his pants, and Hermione instantly turned the steaming hot liquid, into cold liquid. So then he couldn’t feel a thing and get burned onto his skin.
“He’s alive? Alive?” Harry whispered, collapsing onto thread. Ron’s blue eyes got huger.
“That’s what they say; I mean now they wouldn’t lie you know. The Daily Prophet has been telling the truth for a while now.’ Hermione babbled on but then went silent noticing Harry wasn’t listening.
“I’ll be back.” Harry said, than ran quickly to who knew where.
“Ron, mate, what happened with Potter?” A seventh year boy asked.
“Dunno. Needed to do something, I suppose. Listen guys, practice is shortened you guys can go now. We’ll have to reschedule later on this week.” Some players nodded and left, while others got their equipment and strolled off for a late lunch. Ron and Hermione walked back to the Great Hall.
“Good job Ron, you actually took charge.” Hermione said and Ron blushes a nice shade of red. There sitting was Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom.
“Hermione finally, tell us what happened!” Neville said. Hermione cleared her throat, about to the read the article.
“Just listen to this okay. Sirius Black, age 37, mass murderer who was convinced innocent two years ago is found to be alive. His whereabouts are currently unknown and furthermore no one knows such a thing. Wherever Mr. Black is the Ministry of Magic is sincerely apologetic of accusing him of been a murderer of twelve people. They hope when Mr. Black is found that he accepts this apology and gets an award for his bravery and courage in the Department of Mysteries two years ago. His fight was a brave one dueling with Deatheater Bellatrix Lestrange. Blah, blah, blah, He was a great one, good man, best man in the Potter’s wedding. Harry Potter’s godfather. Yeah that’s basically it.” Hermione looked up.
“So he’s alive?” Luna asked.
“I suppose he is I wonder who spotted him in the first place.” Ron said.
“Oh Ronald, there aren’t many animagis who are transforms into big black dogs called Snuffles.” Hermione said matter-of-factly. Everyone laughed at that one.
“Well if you put it as that…then I guess.” Ron said, clearly embarrassed at Hermione’s wittiness. Hermione smirked at him, holding his hand.
Harry didn’t show up for any of his afternoon classes. Ron and Hermione became very worried.
“It’s okay Hermione, relax.” Ron said, trying to comfort his girlfriend.
CHAPTER 24
“I just can’t Ron.” Hermione said, she was close to tears. It wasn’t just Harry she was sad about. It was mainly Draco who was in her thoughts day and night and everything in between. It killed her to know that he didn’t like or love her like that. This whole time she was been played like that. She was so naïve.
“Try Hermione, just try.” Ron said. She knew Ron was trying to comfort and aid her out in this situation but it wasn’t helping at all.
“Look Ron, I’m just want some alone time, okay?” Ron looked hurt, but he understood. He nodded and kissed her on the cheek then left. Hermione walked around a bit, trying to get rid of that feeling. The feeling called loneliness. She ran back to the common room and up to the room, passing Malfoy on her way there.
Hermione thought it over that night. She was going to make a potion. It included a lot of ingredients and spells she never heard of but it was worth the shot. Of course Madam Pomfrey and Hagrid should have the ingredients. Perhaps even Professor Sprout that was the easy part. But how in the heck was she supposed to conjure the spells. She wasn’t that advanced even if she was good in all her classes. Hermione needed to practice, practice, and practice.
Hermione spent days on her little ‘project’. Most of her time was at the library, checking out a lot of heavy volumes of books. Madam Pince watched every move obviously.
“What are you at girl? I’m watching you.” She whispered over Hermione’s shoulder. Hermione didn’t flinch already used to it, since that was her third time doing it that day. Everybody was used to Hermione been in the library 24/7 so no one put any thought into it.
Except Malfoy. He knew something was up. Hermione wasn’t the type anyone to be hanging out in the library where she could be doing other stuff.
The potion was called Ever lasting happiness. It was a potion that created a person to be happy for a certain amount of period. Hermione desperately needed this, especially when she felt like crap most of the time. No one was really there for her, and all the people she thought were her friends were just backstabbers or haters.
Ron tried to keep her happy, and she felt gratitude toward him. Hermione realized that she indeed did love Ron and he did love her. So she was determined to make their relationship between them work perfectly. No one can mess it up. Not even Malfoy. To her Malfoy was just history from the past, she’s over him now. To Hermione, he’s just, well, nothing. She passes by him and doesn’t seem to notice him. Or she ignores that fact that he exists at all.
This bothered Malfoy. He would say a snide comment or call her mudblood but she would not speak. She completely ignored him period. It bothers him too, her not replying. But she took it so calmly. Any insult and she would just brush it away.
On Thursday Malfoy watched Granger’s retreating back, he just said a very rude comment about her but she avoided the insult and smiled pleasantly at him. Then she walked away.
CHAPTER 25
On Friday Hermione ran into the Great Hall apparently late. Her friend Clara sat waiting for her, head on the table. Hermione slumped down next to her. Clara glanced up, giving her a frail smile, she was very pale.
“Clara, sweetheart, are you okay?” Hermione asked concern in her brown eyes. Clara nodded. “You’re obviously not let’s take you to the Hospital Wing.” Hermione stood up.
“No.” Clara said, simple as that. “I’m fine.” Hermione nodded. “Look Hermione can I talk to you privately? It’s rather important.” Clara said quietly.
“Of course!” Hermione waited for her to tell, but Clara pointed outdoors. Nodding, that she understood they both strolled out. Harry and Ron passed them, and Hermione gave them a cheerful wave to Ron, ignoring Harry. Harry smiled, but then it turned into a frown. Ron had a quizzical glance to both friends, not knowing the row that Harry had with Hermione. Both girls faced each other, sitting down on the stone bench next to a green bush. Clara wrapped her scarf around her tighter. The chilly wind and bitter cold wasn’t helping.
“So remember that time you found that blood? Then you got it analyzed and everything.” Clara asked. Hermione thought back to when this happened. Then nodded, saying yes.
“Well. . .” Clara started. “It was from a unicorn, but you know that because of McGonagall and Slughorn obviously.”
“Yes I do.”
“Well the unicorn . . . it was actually me. I was the one who injured myself several times throughout this year.” Hermione’s friend looked up curious in seeing Hermione’s expression. Hermione was obviously flabbergasted and in surprise. How could this be? It all summed up though.
Clara was always weak and sick looking whenever Hermione found the unicorn blood. It was also a couple of times she found it too. Not just that one time. Hermione didn’t say anything, just picked on the loose thread on her wool sweater.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to be my friend anymore. You’re just the only friend I trusted to tell them the truth. Particularly since you cared so much about me in the past few months.” Clara stood up about to leave, when the brown eyed girl stopped her from moving on.
“Clara love, you know that’s not true! You have been my best friend from the start. We kind of use each other for good reasons you know. We help each other in ways others can’t. Just remember that I will be there for you hundred percent, all the way.” Hermione took a deep breath. Clara shook her head, her tears brimming with tears on her cheekbones. They hugged briefly, and then walked back, skipping the way.
The next week on Monday morning, Hermione woke up; Professor Flitwick was poking her with his wand gently. Hermione opened one eye warily, not wanting it to get it poked out.
“Up you get Ms. Granger. Madam Pomfrey is calling you to go to the Hospital Wing.” He said, and then toddled away. Malfoy shot her a funny look, which she disregarded as usual. Hermione yawned grinning at Ron, who grinned back, then went off to the Wing. She wondered why Pomfrey needed her, mainly when it was during class time. The nurse was superfluous firm about this matter.
“Yes Miss. . .Oh my god! Clara!” Hermione ran in, gasping for air. There was her friend lying there still as the lifeless. Her face was insipid and she seemed defrosted. Hermione took a deep breath and felt Clara’s forehead. Odd, it was scorching hot while the rest of her body was bitter with frost.
“Yes a terrible thing isn’t it?” Madam Pomfrey murmured behind Hermione. Hermione gaped for words but none came out of her mouth.
“What? How did this happen?” She asked the nurse.
“Seemed like someone attacked her. I doubt I can find a cure.” The nurse said annoyed not finding a cure. Hermione was lost, even if Madam Pomfrey can’t find the cure, which she always can then who could? Especially a desperate time like this, where her friend was been played between living and dying.
CHAPTER 26
That whole week I was a wreck, with the exception of when I was at Ron. Currently I was in a broom closest macking Ronald. The door was locked and not even alohomora could open it. That was my doing of course. Ron’s tongue explored my inner mouth, the fact that he knew how to kiss surprised me.
Probably all those times with Lavender helped. His hands left my waist a while ago. They were all over the place, I moaned. I didn’t mind, this wasn’t disgusting Ron. It was a new one. I liked it and I wanted more. Ron’s shirt was gone but mine was still on. He respected that about me and I was seriously happy. Even though we were alone in a stranded hallway he knew not to go too far or I would hex him. But this particular moment I didn’t mind.
“R-Ron.” I took a long breath, panting. “Mhm.” I mumbled my lips sealing with his once again. He picked me up and made me sit down on the sink, where I wrapped my legs around his waists. My skirt has actually ridden up a bit, but who cares. Ron been checking them out he last six years, it wouldn’t hurt if he saw a bit more. Ron noticed that, he kept one eye on my thighs as he started rubbing them. He then picked me up again into his arms and laid me on spare bed (Which I conjured up). I turned around my face facing the mattress; he lay on top of me.
Ron rubbed my sides softly turning me around. I took my wand muttering a spell that turned my shirt white. It was see through. That worked the magic, he couldn’t stop looking. How did he learn how to do that? I stood up, walking around in a flirty way. There was hunger and desire in his eyes.
“Hermione, stop, come here, before I come after you.” Ron said, shaking his head. I pouted slightly shaking my head no. He just shrugged and leaped toward me. I screamed, and tried to get away but he was too fast. Ron was a keeper after all. I realized I was boy crazy. Ron was just amusement and for life to get through faster. Yes I was using him, but it’s not like he wasn’t enjoying it either.
I got away. I went and pretended to read something, bending over. He let out a small gasp and I smirked. I knew he could see my undergarments but I didn’t care. I wanted him to see it. Two seconds later we were back to French kissing. Who knew how long we were in there, hours perhaps. It was a Saturday after all.
“Let’s spent the night here.” Ron whispered into my hair. I nodded shuffling closer to him his arms around me, his hand lost under my shirt. I put my leg over his waist, tired. His hand immediately came out of under my shirt and traveled to my leg now. The boy does not rest I thought. Laughing inside my head, I breathed in. Ron didn’t smell like most boys did. With their fresh expensive cologne, he smelled like, well, soap. Hand made soap in fact. It was a rather nice sweet smell.
Ron’s hand was getting further into my skirt and I had enough. I took it out harshly; I didn’t want to be connoted. So I crawled on top of him, staring at his baby blue eyes. I kissed him slowly on the lips, biting his bright red lips. His face was bright scarlet, knowing a girl never done this to him before.
“How did you learn how to do that?” He asked surprised. I played all innocent.
“Like what sweetie?” I said batting my eyelashes with a wink/
“Like that?! Never consider you. . .” He stopped mid sentence, gulping. I sighed how did I learn that? The answer I definitely knew and it haunts me to this day. Draco Malfoy I wanted to scream at Ron he’s the one. But no I couldn’t. Shaking my head I said.
“Want me to show you more?” I asked slyly, creeping closer to him. Ron grinned nodding enthusiastically.
The next morning Ron and I finally got out of that dingy closest. I yawned tugging my shirt down, I glanced down curiously. I could have sworn my skirt was a bit longer then this. Ron I thought. Time for payback, I walked swaying.
“Be careful Hermione!” Ron said laughing, steadying me. I smiled flirtatiously and kissed him hastily. He grabbed me but missed. I wanted to see if he would take advantage of me.
“Ronald! I have a headache!” I whined, pouting. I acted dizzy, I was a drama queen. Ron smiled a secret smile.
“Hermione let’s sit okay.” I nodded walking in the opposite direction.
“This way.” Half an hour later, I ran upstairs to the Head Common Room. Tears were leaking and I couldn’t see since my mascara practically blinded my eyes.
“Flashin’ fruit punch!” I screamed the password, running to my room. But someone stopped me. I glanced up, upset.
“Move. Now.” I said. Draco shook his head.
“What happened?” I collapsed then, not being able to take it anymore. ron. Ron, the Ron I was going out with. How dare he?! How dare he take advantage of me? Thinking I was drunk or something. Of course I didn’t tell this to Draco. I haven’t had a good conversation with Draco in about two months. It wasn’t likely for me to tell him. He caught me before I could fall. It figures, hot guy catches girl, then kiss. The end. But that wasn’t how it went in our life.
On Monday morning the incident with Draco was forgotten. Like yeah right, it still played in the back of my mind. There were other things much more important then him at the moment. Like for example Clara. I had found the cure. It was real funny how Pomfrey couldn’t find it.
Clara was healing, slowly, but it was still worth it. Pomfrey was muttering and I was getting scared.
“Hermione dear, I think someone stole it from me.” I gave the nurse a quizzical look.
“What are you talking about? Like you mean whoever or whatever that did this to her did it on purpose?” Madam Pomfrey nodded. “So they wanted her to die basically?” She nodded again. Hot tears got in my eyes suddenly, how could they? Clara was the nicest person in the world, she may have some differences, but so what?
CHAPTER 27
Since Clara was going to be okay in a week or so, I thought all my troubles would be fixed. Oh how I was wrong. I was growing some more Mandamus Tae, the deadly viper plant that I once researched about. It was luck that was it.
After my little garden work I headed out to Divination. It was a required class for seventh year students. I panted, finally climbing the ladder up to where the location of the room was. Ron and Harry were waiting there for me. Ron looked fairly embarrassed and Harry looked, well, not so Harry. He was glancing around excitedly.
“Hermione! Sit, sit!” He said ardently, tapping his foot. “I got something to say.” Hermione sat quirking an eyebrow at him curiously. Class was to start in approximately in three minutes.
“Okay spill.” Hermione said. Harry bended his head forward, muffling his voice from the others. Ron scooted in, but Hermione glared at him and he stopped. Harry gave a quizzical look which of course both of his best friends ignored. Shaking his head he continued.
“So remember when you gave me the Daily Prophet that one day telling me to read that article. Well I did some research on it; spend loads of time on it you know. I check everywhere, but I didn’t look at one place.”
“Where Harry?” Ron asked. Hermione glared daggers at him once again.
“I’m getting there Ron.” He said impatiently. “So then I was just walking around where I bumped into Trelawney, and she asked if I wanted tea with her. Obviously I didn’t but I didn’t want to be bloody rude so I politely said yes why not. She led me up here and we were just making conversation. Next Trelawney excused herself go getting another teapot of tea. I waited patiently, drinking the remains of my tea. Until I looked down.”
“Harry I think I know where you’re going with this!” Ron said.
“Really where?” Harry asked thrill in his voice.
“There was a bug in the cup, wasn’t there? I’m sure there was, it should have been an old and dusty one.” He said. Hermione and Harry rolled their eyes, while she motioned for him to continue.
“Listen to this you two. I looked down and there was a grim there, just like back in third year! The same back shaped one. It was peculiar you know at first. But I then stared at it and I think I’m right. It’s padfoot. Snuffles. It’s Sirius Black!” Harry said. Hermione and Ron gaped at him, clearly surprised at this news.
“Harry mate. No offense, uh Sirius is dead.” Ron said dumbly. He got a glare out of that one.
“Harry how do you know this though? Hermione asked. Harry sighed frustrated.
“I just do! It all leads up! Trelawney even predicted this earlier in the year! Remember? Come on!” He said.
