CHAPTER 13

The Ravenclaw Girl

After breakfast they slumped to the library and organized their bags while they waited for everything to be situated with the other houses. "Let's just try not to annoy the old bird. I don't have the nerves for her today," Apolla said as she
They finished and Desiree pulled out her new Defense Against the Dark arts book. "Hey Apolla, look at this...Basics for Beginners...I have a bad feeling about this. Something's not right. Why would this new woman have us get Basics books for our OWL year?"
Apolla shrugged her shoulders and began waving her wand lazily in front of her. Someone behind them dropped a book and made Apolla lurched her wand in a slashing movement as she jumped and fell out of her chair. As her wand moved papers flew in every which way. She looked around and assessed the damage. Pince came scurrying from her office and looked around with her moth hanging wide open. She looked and saw Desiree and Apolla as the only two standing.
“YOU TWO!” she said as she pointed her long bony finger at the girls. “OUT! YOU MADE THIS MESS!” She flicked her wand and books came to life and started snapping at Desiree and Apolla. They ran out and ran down the nearest hallway. They ran and stopped at a corner and looked behind them. Desiree saw no one and sighed. Apolla walked forward and CRASH! She walked right into Trelawney carrying Tarot cards and muttering to herself. She fell on her end, hard on the ground. She looked at Apolla as though she was the strangest thing in her life. She stood up and brushed off her shawls.
“Professor...I-I-I, uh...I am really sorry,” Apolla said as she stood up.
“No matter, no matter..i merely saw you coming. I slowed down so the crash was not so hard. Well then I will see you two later.” she replied and walked off.
Apolla looked at Desiree who just shrugged her shoulders.
“I things here are going to be a little weird this year…” Desiree said as she stared down the hall at the still muttering Trelawney.
Her and Apolla walked started walking to their first class, Transfiguration. As they turned the corner to the Transfiguration square, where Desiree spotted Draco and is group lounging with his friends under a tree in the grass. Desiree tapped Apolla on the shoulder and pointed toward Draco. Apolla rolled her eyes and walked even faster. They walked on to the grass and sat on one of the benches in the shade. Desiree heard laughing and footsteps. She peered up and saw Draco walking toward her. With her wand already in her hand with the book up hiding most of her wand, she poked the tip over and pointed it toward the oncoming Draco. “Langlock,” she whispered. She looked up and saw Draco swallow and jump back. She heard a wet plop and smiled. She lowered her wand and kept on reading. Apolla obviously noticed what happened and looked up. She saw Draco trying to talk and giving a giggling Desiree dirty looks. Apolla looked at Desiree, who was doing all she could to keep from laughing.
“Desiree, what did you do?” Apolla stuffed her book back in her bag and pulled her ebony and beech wand.
“Just kept Draco’s mouth shut for a while,” she replied curtly. “There he goes, running to tell Snape...and watch, during lunch Snape is going to get me,” Desiree added. Apolla stood up as the large doors on the Transfiguration classroom opened. Apolla and Desiree walked in and looked at the seating chart on the front desk. Desiree was next to a Brenna Rourke, a Gryffindor whom she had never seen or heard of before. Apolla was next to some Ravenclaw who was already in her seat, her quill writing away at full speed. Desiree looked up and saw McGonagall sitting at her desk in the front of the room. Then a brunette with pale grey eyes walk up and look at the chart. She was smiling until her gaze was fixed on the Seating chart. Then her smile fell as though she’d been slapped. She sighed and walked up to the desk next to Desiree and slumped down in it. Desiree smiled hopefully at her, but she just ignored her. Desiree rolled her eyes and played with her quill as they waited for the rest of the class to show up. They only waited a few minutes before the classroom was filled and McGonagall stood up and walked forward. “Since this is your O.W.L. year, I find it fitting to start the years on stressing the importance of the exams.” Desiree watched as the Hufflepuff girl in front of her tossed a sickle to the girl next to her, unhappily. Desiree laughed quietly and looked back up at McGonagall. “You must have at least an Acceptable to pass, but I will only take Exceeding Expectations and above. So just because you passed with an A, doesn’t mean you will get in the class.” McGonagall talked all through the first 20 minutes of the class. Desiree dozed off and came back to full attention when two girls started passing out small toads and mice. “I will start everyone by reviewing the basics. Everyone start by review the spells on these lists.” She flicked her wand and the paper began to move. Each list placed itself on a student’s desk. “Begin at the top and don’t move on to the next spell until you have perfectly cast the first. You may begin.” As she sat down, students started casting the first spell. All simple...i could do these in my sleep, Desiree thought to herself as she looked down the list. She worked her way down the list until she got to the fourteenth one, at that time McGonagall called time.
“Alright, you may now take your subjects and place them in the box up here, and out your lists to the right of the box in a pile.” Desiree started up and as she stood up a blonde Ravenclaw. They both rammed into each other and fell to the ground, painfully. Desiree stood up and saw pale ghost-like blue eyes, blonde hair you could mistake for white hair, and an empty face with a hint of a smirk. She looked at Desiree and bent over to pick up her list and walked away. Desiree could not tear her eyes from her. She was intriguing, quiet, and interesting at the same time. Apolla tapped Desiree’s shoulder that Desiree broke from her trance. The girl walked out and around the corner in the hall. Desiree quickly followed her out and lost her as she went down the other hall. She sighed and turned to a following Apolla.
“Guess we better get to Defense Against the Dark Arts…I have no idea how this new woman is,” Desiree said. Apolla nodded and opened the door to the Grand Staircase.

Continue Story (I copy and paste from internet) - Chapter 22 - 'HE KNEW EACH TEAR BEFORE IT CAME – HERMIONE AND GEORGE'

CHAPTER 22

Later that night, Hermione sat outside and looked up at the stars. With Voldemort dead and gone, there was no worry about anything really. She sat there alone as tears fell from her eyes. She just kept thinking about how George was leaving her behind like Ron had done. Maybe he wouldn’t break up with her but with Ron and Malfoy there with her, he probably will. She was so lost in thought that she didn’t hear anyone walk up behind her until they sat down next to her. Hermione looked over at the silhouette of Harry as she let out a sigh and rubbed at her eyes.

“It’s OK Herms,” Harry said as he put his arm around her shoulders. She leaned her head on his shoulder and cried. “Everything’s going to be fine. George isn’t going to break up with you or anything. He’s really worried about you now though. You’ve been out here for two hours just sitting here. He wanted to come and help you feel better but he didn’t. He thought that maybe you needed time alone. Once an hour passed and you still didn’t come in, Fred was restraining him from coming to talk to you about it because we all thought you needed time alone. Then two hours hit and they sent me out to talk to you.”

Hermione looked at Harry again and then looked down at her hands. She let out a sigh and felt everything inside her go numb again like it had earlier. Her head was spinning and she felt as if she was just going to drop and pass out or something. She took in a deep breath of air and looked up at the sky again as tears rolled down her cheeks. She ran a hand through her hair as a shiver ran up her spine. She had just realized that before dinner, she had taken off George’s hoodie and it was on her bed. Harry looked at her and stood up. He took her hand, helped her up, and then led her into the warm kitchen. George ran over to her and pulled her into a massive hug. When he finally let go, Hermione turned and ran up the stairs and into her room. She wanted to be anywhere but there at the moment. She knew that George didn’t understand what was going on just then and that he probably wanted to know but she didn’t even know how she was going to tell him how she felt. George turned to run after her when she ran but Harry had gripped onto his arm and pulled him back.

“What are you doing Harry?” he asked. “She needs me right now.”

“She needs to be alone right now,” Harry replied as he looked over at all the others who were nodding. Ron stood up and walked over to Harry and George.

“Harry and I have known her for so long that we know everything about her,” Ron said. “If anything, she’ll want to talk to me and Harry.”

George shot his brother a nasty look and then looked at Harry. “I want to be the one that she can run to, to talk to when it involves me!”

Ginny stood up and walked in between George, Ron, and Harry. She stared at George and everyone watched him shrink back. She gave him the angriest look and crossed her arms in front of her just like Mrs. Weasley would when she was angry at Fred and George. “You leave Ron alone George,” she said angrily.

George took a step forward and looked down at his little sister. “And why should I?” he replied.

Ginny didn’t back down like George had expected her too. She actually straightened up a little bit and stepped forward looking up at her brother. “BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW A GIRL’S MIND WORKS!” she yelled. George shrunk down a little bit and started to back up. “You have no idea what she is thinking right now and the only person who really knows what she is thinking and how she is feeling is ME! Harry and Ron are right at the fact that she will want to talk to them but she probably wants to talk to me too and I know when to give her space because she will not want to talk to you idiots at all for a little bit.” Ginny turned around and walked over to the window that looked out onto the front yard of the Burrow. She bit her lip and sniffled slightly. No one had noticed but they all looked at her. “I’m the only one in this room who knows how bad it feels to know that someone is going to leave you somewhere when you don’t want them too because you’ve been through a lot with them.” Ginny turned to face George with an even angrier expression, but her eyes didn’t show anger. They showed pain as she remembered exactly what Hermione was feeling. She didn’t dare look at Harry because the two of them didn’t get back together right away because of all the Death Eaters that hadn’t been caught yet that were probably after him still. She stared at her older brother and sighed. “You have no idea how she feels and you never will until you have to be put in that position. None of you will.” She whispered that last part so that no one would hear her. She bit her lip and then started to walk towards the stairs. “You all better leave her alone for about a half hour because she probably doesn’t want you all to help her unless she wants to be which she probably doesn’t want you to right now. She’ll come to you. And if she doesn’t in a half hour, then you can go to her.” With that, Ginny ran up the steps and into her room. As she reached her room, she plopped down on her bed and heard crying in the room next to hers. She looked up at the ceiling and felt her heart break as she felt the tears she had been holding back spill from her eyes.

CHAPTER 24

Harry burst into the kitchen, kicking the door aside. Hermione was at the table, coffee mug in hand, tear stained cheeks. She was sporting a Slytherin T-Shirt.

She looked up at him, throwing the mug, running towards him.

Harry caught her, holding her close.

She pulled him to the floor, crying.

“What happen?”

Hermione couldn’t speak, she never felt this way before. She felt has if her body was being ripped apart. Her stomach hurt, her head aced and her heart felt as if someone torn her open and stole it. Then stomped onto it a million and one times.

“He--he left me!” She screamed into his Auror uniform.

Harry smoothed her hair, rubbing her back. A small smile on his face. “Why?”

Hermione shrugged, “I don’t know….I didn’t do anything to make him leave.”

Harry sighed. “Its for the best Mione.”

“Please don’t call me Mione, Harry.”

He looked down at her. “Ron and I’ve called you that forever.”

“I know I’m sorry, but that’s what Draco used to call me.” She looked up at him, he used his thumb to wipe away her tears.

“I don’t know what to do.”

“There isn’t anything you can do, do you know where he went?”

“No…I have no idea…he might be with Crabbe or Goyle.”

Harry knew he had to get this back to Kelley. “Is there anything you need?”

Hermione shook her head, “No…”

“Are you sure?”

She shook her head yes.

“Okay.” He stood up, bend down and picked Hermione up too, pulling her into a big hug. “I’m here for you.” He whispered.

“I know. I feel like everything is falling apart. My family wont speak to me, my friends hate me, Draco leaves me. What have I’ve gotten myself into Harry?”

He shrugged. “Don’t worry, things will get better, it may not seem like it, but everything happens for a reason.”

“He’s gone!? He left her?” Kelley walked around the office, jumping for joy.

“Yes, and she has no idea why, or where he went.”

Kelley couldn’t believe what she was hearing, finally, finally things were going her way. Soon her and Draco would be together, everything was going to work perfectly. “No matter, we can find him, he of all people should know.”

Harry walked over to the window. “So are we done here?”

Kelley faced him. “Yes, Mr. Potter, I believe our mission have been completed. You now have what you want and so do I.

“Good.” He couldn’t help but smile.

Hermione looked out the bay window, snow covered the grown, trees, houses. Her forehead was rested on the glass, her fingertips chasing the snowflakes. She was cold, her knees against her chest.

“Draco….” She muttered. Her eyes scanned the roads, but they were bare. “Where was he?” It had been weeks since Hermione and Draco’s last encounter. No one knew where he went, not even the Ministry had seen him.

“Mione?”

She turned around, her eyes blazing, but fell when she realized it was Harry.

“Well don’t look to excited to see me.” He handed her a mug of fire whiskey.

“I’m sorry Harry…how did you get in?” She brought the mug to her lips.

“Door was open, I thought you could use a friend, everyone a work misses you.”

“I’m going back in a few days, I just need some time to myself. How is everyone? Do the Weasleys still dislike me?”

“Sad to say yes, I’ve been trying to talk to Ron and Ginny.”

She returned to the window. “Well if they wont believe me, then they are no friends of mine.”

“Mione, you need to get out of this house, lets go do something, like the old days.” He placed his hand on her arm. “Come on, you know you want to. And it is almost Christmas, we can go see what they have at the stores. ”

“I don’t know Harry, I really just want to be alone.”

Harry placed his hand back on the mug and looked out the window too. “Alright I guess I’ll just leave you to your thoughts. I’ll be back tomorrow.”

Hermione watched him walk down the driveway, and disappear. Of course she felt bad, she knew Harry was trying to help, but he didn’t understand, no one would. She looked down at the fire whiskey, tapping it with her wand, turning it to hot coco.

Draco was resting in bed, his eyes scanned the dark green room, it was cold and lonely.

Kelley sutured in her sleep, making him face her for a split second.

Chills ran down his spine.

She reached for him, placing her arm around his chest.

Cringing he slowly got out of bed, and walked to the dinning room. His parents were at the table. Narcissa gave a half smile, Lucius beamed.

“How are you my son?”

Draco shrugged his shoulder, taking a seat at the end of the table. Lately his father has took him in with welcome arms. And Draco knew that was never a good sign. Him and his father were not the ones who show expression. Anger, and anger only.

“We need more information about the order, what have you all found out?”

Draco ruffled his hair and began to slouch.

“Sit up straight.” A voice snarled, pointing their wand at him.

Draco started to go into a fit.

“Stop it!” Screamed Kelley.

She was standing in the doorway, her hands on her hips. Staring down the stranger. “That is enough!”

The stranger snarled. “Now tell us everything.”

Draco rubbed his arm, oh how he hates that spell. All his life she was tortured with it, even as a toddler. “I told you everything already. There is nothing more.”

“Rubbish. Tell us Draco or you Mudblood wife will be destroyed.”

Kelley’s mouth dropped a little. “You didn’t kill her yet?” Her voice high pitch.

“No I have not.”

Everyone looked at him.

He looked at the table, his reflection in the wood. He looked horrible.

“Either you get rid of her, or we will.” The stranger rose to his feet, tucking his wand back into his cloak. “When you left you were supposed to go forward with the plan. But yet here you are, and OUR plan has not gone forward.

Draco knew he should be looking up but he couldn’t.

“Do it, NOW!”

Hermione woke the next morning, tangled in blankets.

“Get up sleepy head.”

Hermione tried to pull the covers over her head, but they were stuck to her.

“Go away!”

“Nah! Come on, lets go do something.” He tickled her.

“Harry get off!” She burst out into a fit of giggles.

“Come on get up! We have a lot to do today!”

Hermione twist and turned trying to escape.

“THUMP.”

All movement stopped.

“What the?”

Hermiones books fell off the dresses onto the floor.

“Weird.” Harry walked over and picked them up.

“Do we have to go into town today?”

“Yes, lets get you out of here.”

Harry jumped off the bed, pulling Hermione with him. Tossing clothes at her and pushing her into the bathroom. “Change now.”

She rolled her eyes, closing the door.

“That’s hideous.” Snarled Harry.

They two Gryffindors were looking in through a window, Hermione had her eye on a sweater.

“I think its cute.”

“Yeah right its ghastly.”

“Not that yellow one, the blue one behind it!” She grabbed Harry’s chin, pointing it in the right direction.

“Oh. Well are you going to get it?”

She shrugged her shoulders. “Maybe, lets keep looking.”

Harry noticed she back to a depressed mood. “Whats wrong?” He bumped into her.

“Nothing.” She lied.

“Come on Mione. Don’t make me do ‘it.’”

Hermione’s eyes widen. “No Harry please don’t.”

He chuckled. “I going to.” He raised his arms.

She shook her head no. The last time he did this was at school. Both her and Ron were are a dark red, embarrassed/laughing.

“Harry please there are people around.” She stopped in the middle of Diagon Alley.

But he didn’t care, with his arms at the level his head. He began to flap them, cawing like a bird.

“I’m a bird.”

Hermione blushed.

“I’m a plane.” He zoomed around her, picking up speed.

People were stopping now.

“I can fly.” He ran to a bench, and jumped off it. Flapping his arms, trying to fly.

She was giggling now. It amazed her how hard he tried to make her smile.

“I’m taking your bags!” He swooped down towards her, grabbing her things, running the other direction.

“HARRY!” She screamed, running the same way he left. “Come back here!”

He turned a corner.

Hermione slid, falling into him.

Gifts everywhere.

Laughter.

Smiles.

“That’s the Hermione I know.”

She blushed, picking herself up, holding her hand out to him.

“You are simply amazing Harry.”

“I know.” He joked, picking up the gifts.

Our of the corner of her eye, she swore she saw blonde hair.

“Alright Harry I’ll see you tomorrow.” She hugged him. He turned, walked out the door and disappeared.

She smiled as she began to wrap her gifts. There weren’t many, since her friends and family disowned her.

“BANG…..BOOM….”

“What the?” Hermione walked out into the hallway, leaning over the rail, peering into the darkness.

That’s when she saw them…dark hoods….wands….torches….death eaters.

She gasped, one saw her and ran up the stairs.

Screaming she ran to the bedroom.

Slamming the door. Locking it.

Her heart was racing.

Fiddling with her wand, the death eater broke in.

A struggle broke out.

Hermione began to kick, punch, scream.

“STOP!” The death eater yelled, trying to pin her down.

She knew that voice, her hands grabbed the mask, pulling it off.

And there standing before her, was her husband, Draco Lucius Malfoy.

Draco was a death eater.

Last Story (I copy and paste from internet) - Last Chapter 68 - 'SAVE ME'

LAST CHAPTER 68

"Malfoy?"said Neville slowly, and he hugged him tightly, Draco hugged him back, though he would deny it later. He even let Hermione hug him tears still running down her face, even Potter, not Weasley though, they merely shook hands, hugging was to much to ask from either of them, at least right now.

"Did we win?"Draco croaked. Harry laughed.

"We won,"He said softly.

"Thanks to me,"Draco said head held high, but he frowned. Draco's heart beat quickly. How was he alive, and where was his father? where was his father!?

"I have one question,"Draco said slowly.

"Ask away,"said Hermione.

"How in then name of Merlin's lice filled beard am I alive?"demanded Draco. Hermione's nose wrinkled.

"I'm sure Merlin didn't have-"

"Answer the question,"Draco snapped. The group slowly exchanged looks, not knowing how to tell him. Narcissa helped Draco up and led him away from his friends. They looked away as Draco looked at her in disbelief shaking his head.

"Lets give them some privacy,"Harry said slowly and the group left, leaving the Malfoys to mourn.

3 weeks later

Harry licked his ice cream cheerfully grinning at Ron, Hermione, and Neville.

"I thought Malfoy was meeting us,"said Neville impatiently.

"I'm fashionably late,"Draco scoffed walking over silver eyes scanning them. There was a difference in his posture, in his attitude and even the way he walked, something foreign, something not Draco, and for a minute Draco resembled Lucius Malfoy more then himself, but the moment passed. It seemed that when his father gave his life for his son, he had also given it to his son, or at least a piece of it, Lucius Malfoy lived on in more ways then one. Draco sat down propping his feet on the table, by Ron's ice cream. Ron wrinkled his nose, scowling.

"What are you lot going to do now that the big bad Voldemorts gone? Talk about the good old days when you had something to do? Sit in the cob webbed filled halls of Grimwald place, wands at the ready for the next great evil?"Draco inquired raising an eyebrow.

"ha, ha, ha, your hillarious Malfoy,"snapped Harry. Draco grinned.

"What about you, What are you up to?"demanded Ron.

"Going back for a final year at Hogwarts, Then I plan to over throw the world, world domination and all, slots open for a new evil leader and i'm up for the job,"Draco said sliding a fire whiskey from his cloak taking a swig. Neville laughed nervously.

"Your joking right?"Neville asked.

"Of course I am, Lord Draco sounds stupid, so doesnt evil over lord Draco, no, I need a new name before I go through with my plan for world domination,"Draco stated glancing at the group. Hermione laughed.

"Go ahead, I'll be more then happy to kick your arse Malfoy,"Ron stated. Draco grinned.

"Looks like things are going to be a lot more peaceful,"Neville said happily.

"And Malfoys going to be a lot more annoying,"Ron grumbled, "Any chance of us getting rid of you?"Ron demanded.

"After a life changing adventure like that? No chance mate,"Draco said.

"Didn't think so,"Ron said slowly smiling.

The right thing to do, I guess it’s never clear. Even now, I’m still not sure if killing who I thought was Neville was right, Or killing McNair to save Neville, or stabbing Potter. Society has rules, of what’s right and wrong. But who gives them the right to tell us what’s right? Is it right to sacrifice a few people to save millions? Is it right to watch your friend die knowing there is no hope? Letting him die in misery and pain? Isn’t it mercy to end it quick for them? Everything isn’t always black and white. People like Potter; they fight for the greater good, whatever that means. I’ve come to know that it means saving the world, or at least a lot of people. And people like Potter, they give the ultimate sacrifice to people who don’t even give a dam..n about them, for people to live, sacrificing their own lives if they have to just so others can live. I still can’t grasp that yet. Yeah I guess if it’s the whole world you better die trying to save it, but hey I’m selfish. I’d rather be with my friends and family, waiting for some hero to save us. Is that being selfish? Is that being a coward? I’m still not sure. I’ve learned one thing through all this, no matter what, no matter what anyone says, go with your gut if you feel it’s the right thing to do you do it whatever it is. Hey if there’s some big battle and you feel the right place is to be with your family go ahead, I dont’ know if that’s selfishness and or cowardice but thousands of other people are doing it too. But hey, if you feel its right to be right up in there, risking your life, right in battle to save others, you do that. I don’t know if that’s bravery or stupidity, if you feel it’s right you do it. But if you’re a maniac and you feel it’s right to kill thousands of people- well, I suggest you don’t go with that particular right feeling unless you want to get on death row. Maybe the people who risk it all to save us are just crazy, or maybe there something more, maybe they have something the rest of us don’t have, a certain strength, or they see or know something that we just don’t get. There not super heroes, there just heroes, they just do what the rest of us can’t or wont. I’m still not to clear on the whole good and evil thing, but hey if there’s one thing I’ve learned from those idiot Gryffindors it’s to do what I think is right deep down. That’s why I’ve told you my story; I felt it was right to confuse the crap out of lots of people. Okay, okay, that wasn’t the main point, but it was one of the points. Have my questions run through your heads. Maybe you will fine some answers. Oh and I’m not telling you to kill some hero because some maniac is threatening to kill your mother unless you kill the hero. Most societies frown upon that. Yes I know I did it, but we all can’t be like fabulous me plus, I didn’t feel it was right, I felt like I had no choice. I’m not saying it was a mistake, I mean come on I’m me, I don’t make mistakes.

Sincerely, Draco Lucius Malfoy

P.S.

Granger and Weasley got married, big surprise there, Weasel's an Auror and Granger works at a law firm, Potter and Tonks got together, both aurors, who the bloody he11 saw that one coming? I sure didn't, Neville married Loony Lovegood, there both professors, and me, I'm proud to say i've disgraced the name of Malfoy for years to come and were my father alive, he'd probably kill himself from the embarassment, I married Ginny Weasley. Didn't you know? Red heads are vixens. And I don't work, duh. I'm filthy stinking rich!

I could be lying to you, my fire whiskey's empty and I cant tell the floor from the ceiling, but you'll never know, will you?

P.S.S.

I’M NOT FULL OF MYSELF! WHY DOES EVERYONE SAY THAT?

CHAPTER 12

New Term and New Teachers

“Desiree, are you mad? I mean, we will still be together, and I am sure we will have classes together. And that’s just classes, we could meet after our classes-“ Desiree cut him off.
“I am fine, like you said, its nothing, just different patches on our robes. And we probably will have many classes together. Last year the only classes I had that didn’t have any Ravenclaws in it were Potions and Divination. So it’s okay. Hey and since your in Ravenclaw I want you to watch over a couple people, make sure no one picks on them. Luna Lovegood, the strange girl with the blonde hair, you can’t miss her, she wears radish earrings. And Richelle’s little brother, he seems very pitiful, I don’t think he the kind that will stand up to bullies.” Pierre nodded his head. “I better go…See you in the morning. Make sure you get up on time. You don’t want to miss breakfast. And don’t put your uniform on wrong.”
“Desiree, I will be fine, I’m a big boy, I think I can handle it.”
“Alright, I will see you in the morning. Good night.”
“Night,” he said. They hugged and walked in opposite directions. Desiree walked down the three flights of stairs to the back entrance of the dungeons she caught up with the tour group of first year slytherins. The two prefects guiding them were Astoria Greengrass and Lisbeth Dawson. Lisbeth was a friend of Desiree’s, and was usually in the same bunk room as Desiree. Desiree walked up to the front and walked next to Lisbeth.
“Any room for me with the two new girls?” Lisbeth said as she saw Desiree next to her.
“Of course, what you think? We were going to throw you out with Pansy and Millicent? Ehh, just the thought of that scares me,” Desiree replied. Lisbeth laughed and walked around the corner. Astoria was the tour guide and Lisbeth was making sure she was going the right way, Astoria had to walk backwards to give the tour. Desiree turned to the first years while still walking.
“Okay little first years, my name is Desiree Malfoy, and if you need anything or help with anything, come to me or Lisbeth, here to my left.” Lisbeth raised her hand, while giggling. “Don’t go to anybody that looks stuck-up or full of themselves. You won’t get anywhere, I can promise you. And if you happen to be stopped by a Draco Malfoy, tell him he’s a fat git and to back off, I am sure you can do that. Now, welcome to Hogwarts! I am sure you will all love it here!” Desiree turned back around and looked at Lisbeth, who was now trying the hardest not to bust out laughing.
“Desiree, you shouldn’t have done that,” she said.
“What? It will get them far,” Desiree replied. Lisbeth rolled her eyes as they walked up to the portrait of the old witch.
“The Password, young students…now, now don’t waste my precious time,” the old witch said.
“Quiet now you old hag, be nice for the first years. You might be able to convince them you’re actually nice…Atrum Manus,” Desiree said.
“Old Hag!? How dare you! You best watch it missy! Old hag, old hag, I’ll show you old hag…” the witch said as the portrait swung open and they walked inside. Desiree rolled her eyes and walked in after the first years had gone through. They walked in the huge, stone common room and stood in the center. Although the ceilings were rather low in the back of the it, the slytherin common room was larger than all the other houses. It was twice as wide as the Gryffindor common room and 4 times as long. The rooms lined the sides. Girls rooms on the left, boys on the left. The whole common room was shaped like a half cross. There was a large area in the back of the room with the only windows, except for the couple rooms that had a small window, it had a few round tables and large bookcases. When you walk in you walk down a few steps then you come to the sitting area in front of the fireplace, which was most of the times lit. There were oil lamps in the back on the tables, which were lit. The whole common room was shaped like a half cross. There was another study area just like the one in the back on the opposite side of the fire place, but smaller. A large table sat in this study area with the trunks and bags, so the students could grab them and pick their rooms, unlike any other house could. At Christmas, that was where the tree was placed. The first years stood wide-eyed looking all around. Some whispering to their friends beside them, others were speechless. And of course, Desiree could see Draco in his usual spot, in the back, lounging on a couch, reading a book. Desiree waved to Astoria and walked up to Lisbeth.
“I’ll save you a spot, which is your trunk?” Lisbeth pointed to a dark trunk with her initials in bright blue on the front.
“The blue and silver bag next to it is mine as well. Thanks, and I should be there soon…so don’t start the party without me!” Lisbeth pointed out the large bag just barely visible behind her trunk.
Desiree started to walk over. “How could we? You ARE the party!” Desiree laughed and walked up and pulled her trunk and bags out. “Great, there is no way I am doing this in one trip,” she said as she looked at everything. She looked over and saw someone practicing Wingardium Leviosa on some books. She smiled and pulled out her wand. She tied Lisbeth’s single bag to her trunk. “Well, here it goes.” She picked up her bags and hung them on her shoulders. She picked up her trunk and held it with her left hand and pointed her wand, in her right hand at Lisbeth’s trunk and bag. “Wingardium Leviosa!” The trunk lifted simply off the ground and floated a good 2 feet off the ground. Desiree smiled and walked over to the room they usually pick, the only girls’ room with a window, with her wand over her shoulder pointing at the trunk. She knocked on the door with her elbow. Apolla answered the door and immediately saw the trunk floating behind Desiree.
“Not light packers are we, Desiree?” She teased as she opened the door.
“Ha-ha, very funny. It’s Lisbeth’s stuff, is there a bed for her?” Desiree walked in and saw everyone was sitting on their beds. Apolla took her trunk and bag and set it by Desiree’s bed while Desiree put Lisbeth’s stuff down and rolled it to the last bed on the right of the door. “And we are under strict orders not to start the party without her, she won’t be long. She only has to show the first years their rooms, and then she will be here.”
“How did they look? Mean and tough? Like last year’s bunch?” Apolla sat down on her bed, the bed just left of the only window. It was the rule that Desiree and Apolla get the beds next to the window.
“Oh yeah, they bite too! Please, they hardly look as if they could even stand one class with Snape. A jittery bunch, one looked pretty tough though. But then again, he looked like a Goyle look-a-like…maybe I could hire him as a body guard,” Desiree explained. The other girls laughed as Lisbeth walked in.
“What’s this? Do I hear laughing? There’s not supposed to be laughter! We are snotty slytherins! And better yet…the prefect gets the worst spot in the room!” Lisbeth put on a serious face as the other girls rolled at the top of their lungs in laughter. Rosalba sat up and fluttered the eyelashes.
“We were worried you would take points off us if we didn’t let you sleep in here, and we were here first,” Rosalba said innocently. Lisbeth looked at Rosalba, and silence went across the room. Everyone stared at each other. Then almost instantaneously everyone burst out laughing.
“Oh it’s good to be back!” Desiree pulled her silver whistle from her bag. She pulled out envelopes from her bag and set it down on her table. She opened the small window and blew on her whistle. She waited for a moment then saw a grey figure form in the darkness. Her beloved owl flew to the window and landed on the sill. Desiree held out her arm and Odellette inched on her forearm. Desiree picked up the envelopes and handed them to Odellette. She snatched them with her beak. “Take these to my father, he will know what to do with them, then come straight back and I will give you a big treat,” she explained. She scratched the owl behind her wings and put her arm out the window. Odellette flew off into the darkness then disappeared. Desiree leaned back and joined back in the endless conversations with the girls.
The next morning Desiree woke up early. She dressed and shuffled out of her room. She looked at the board and saw she had Transfiguration, double Potions, Divination, and then double Defense Against the Dark Arts. “Ehh, an awful Monday,” she muttered under her breath. She grabbed her bag from her room and slung it over her shoulder, she grabbed her books in the other hand and went back out and sat at one of the empty tables. She stuffed her books in and grabbed a random book from the shelves. She pulled out a dark blue leather book. In gold on the cover “Blood Brothers: My Life Amongst the Vampires, By Eldred Worple” shone in silver ink. Desiree sighed and flicked through the pages reading little bits. A door opened and slam closed behind her and jerked around to see who it was. She saw Apolla shuffle out and look at the notice board. She sighed and hunched over. Obviously she feels the same as I do, Desiree thought. Apolla shuffled over and launched herself on the sofa. Desiree slipped out of her seat and sneaked over behind the sofa. She peeked over and put her two fingers in her mouth and whistled as loud as possible. Apolla jumped up so fast she plummeted off the sofa. She sat up and rubbed her head. She looked up and saw Desiree shrieking with laughter. Apolla stood up and put her hands on her hips.
“That is so not cool.” She said and saw that some people were poking their heads out of their doors, rolling their eyes and scuff back in their rooms. “And, you woke up all the Slytherins here. Good job...Ooo, they are not going to be happy with you. Their first day back and they get a blaring wake-up call that sounds like a murder scream.”
“Sorry, I couldn’t resist! Anyway, they’ll get over it. They will be more mad with their classes they have on the first day than their wake-up call. Did you see what we have?”
“Yes, awful…although it took me forever to choose what I wanted to do as my elective and send the letter in.” Apolla said as she flung herself on the sofa. Desiree nodded.
“Well, we have a free hour after breakfast while First years, Hufflepuffs, and Gryffindors do schedules…What do you want to do?” Desiree pulled her wand out and twiddled with it in her hand. She waved it hard out toward the back on the room from the couch. Suddenly all the doors flung open and slammed back shut. Desiree and Apolla stared wide-eyed from their seats as people rushed out in their pajamas. All with their wands ready and brandishing. Draco turned to them and gave them a nasty look and walked back in his room.
“What was that for? We were all awake with your first wake up call! Now this! These first years look like they are about to wet themselves!” Lisbeth marched over to them and held her wand up and poked it right between Desiree’s eyes. Desiree crossed her eyes and gazed at it.
“What are you going to do? Kill me? Go on, hurry up and do it, that way the house elves can clean up the mess while you’re at Breakfast!” Desiree looked up at Lisbeth while Apolla was giggling. Lisbeth sighed and stomped back in the room. Later Rosalba and some others came out dressed and ready to go.
“What do we have today? I hope it’s not too bad,” Rosalba said as she yawned and stretched out on the sofa. Desiree pointed at the Notice board. Rosalba took one look and shriveled her nose.
“Look at the time, let’s go down to the Great hall for some food,” Apolla said pointing at the clock above the fireplace. It read 7 o’clock, just when they let the kids in for Breakfast. They stood and walked out the portrait hole into the dungeons and up the couple flights of stairs. They walked in the great hall and a handful of teachers were already eating, but a whole crowd of students were piling in the large hall. They trio of girls sat at the Slytherin table and immediately started eat. Desiree noticed a small white dot flying down from the air. The gray and white owl landed near her and she tore the letters quickly from the owl’s leg. She looked at the letters and stuffed them in her bag. Desiree scratched the owl’s head. Desiree turned back and resuming her conversation. Odelette didn’t even flap her wing or take off. Desiree looked back at her and held up her hands. “What?” The owl screeched loudly and snapped her beak. Desiree jumped back and now everyone in the hall was staring at her. Desiree held out a handful of her food and the owl ate some and happily took off. Apolla looked at her and shrugged her shoulder. Desiree looked around and looked back at Apolla. Almost simultaneously, every conversation continued. Desiree sighed and fell back on Apolla.

CHAPTER 23

Hermione ran to his side, “Draco, Draco, DRACO!?” She was screaming frantically. Blood was poring form every where possible. She quickly grabbed a towel and applied pressure.

Draco’s eyes fluttered.

“Draco?” She lifted his chin to her face.

He lightly grabbed her wrist. “Her…min…eee…you n-need t-t-to get a-way from…me.” His breath was short.

Hermione gave him a puzzled look, she needed to get him help and fast. “I’m going to get some help.”

“N-No…y-you…ch-ch-can’t!”

“Draco you will die if I don’t!”

He strained to see her face. “P-P-Ple…e…ease d-don’t.”

“Fine, but we need to get you to the bed, do you think you can walk?”

He rolled his head. Hermione put his arm around her should and another around his back. Slowly and smoothly they limped towards the bed. When he was laying down Hermione tried to remove his clothes so she could see every wound possible. But he refused.

“Draco! I need so see what needs healing.” She shot at him.

He shook his head.

“Fine!” She left, returning what a cauldron and many potions.

He forced himself to stay awake, but it was no use, soon he was dreaming.

Draco awoke to Hermione, she was hovering over him. Every muscle was on fire, he lowered his chin, watched her smear purple foam onto his cuts.

“What are you doing?” He moaned.

She didn’t answer.

“Hermione?”

“Hmm…”

“What are you doing?”

“Cleaning your wounds.” She slid her forefinger along the bowl, gathering the foam.

“I can see that…but what is that stuff.”

“Healing drakes.”

“Are you okay Mione…you seem upset?”

“How can you even ask me that? I come home to you almost dead and I don’t have any clue why?! Of course I’m mad!” She slammed the bowl down on the bedside table.

“I’m sorry.” He croaked.

“What happen to you?!”

He couldn’t look at her. “I cant tell you…”

“Why not?”

“Because….”

“Because why?”

‘I just….I just cant….but I need to get up.” He began to rise.

Hermione shoved him back down.

“Ow!” He bellowed.

“Drink this every hour on the hour for the rest of the day..“ She stormed out the door.

He sighed, he couldn’t tell her, but he needed to leave at once. He slowly swung his legs over the bed and stood up. The tiny crystal bottle in his hand, he brought it to eye level, it was a puke color green. But he darned it in one gulp.

Instantly he felt rejoiced and energized.

Hermione returned, she looked glum.

“Hey Mione.”

“Hmm?”

“I was thinking…”

“Yeah?”

“We should have a D & H day.”

“Huh?” She raised an eyebrows.

“A Draco and Hermione day.”

“Um….”

“Lets go take pictures, we need to fill those empty frames. It will be fun.”

Hermione crossed her arms, she didn’t know what to think. First her and Draco didn’t talk for months, she comes home to him hurt, and now he wanted to go take pictures?

She shrugged. “I don’t know…”

“Come on…..it will be fun, we both need some.”

Draco and Hermione walked around a small muggle town called, Maniston. Luckily they caught the last day of the carnival.

“What is this?” Asked Draco as he looked around at the rides.

Hermione looked around, soaking in the atmosphere. “This Draco is a carnival, I haven’t been to one since I was 13.”

“And we are here because…”

“Because you said you wanted to have fun, so here we are.” She walked over to the ticket booth, buying two bracelets.

“Thank you, enjoy.” Replied the ticket lady.

“Here you go.” Hermione placed the bracelet around his wrist.

“What is this?” He swirled the paper around is wrist, it had a weird design on it.

“It’s a bracelet that lets you ride the rides and play the games as many times as you want.”

Draco looked around, he had to admit, this was pretty cool. “Aright lets go.” He grabbed her hand and lead her to a ride.

Over the next few hours there were screaming, laughing, food tasting, running around, taking pictures and being crazy.

The newlyweds walked along the beach that was near the carnival. All the rides were light up. Each one eating a caramel apple. Draco had caramel and nuts and Hermione had caramel and sprinkles. The air was crisp, making them walk closer to each other then normal.

“Today was a lot of fun.”

Hermione bit into her apple, “Mmmhmm.”

Draco laughed.

They both stopped and looked out towards the water, the sun was setting. Draco took a bit of his apple too, he almost dropped it, but caught it at the last second. Draco shrugged and took another bite. The waves crashed at their feet, Hermione kicked off her shoes, held up her sundress and stepped into the lake. With her apple still in hand she began to jump on the waves.

Draco shook his head as he watched. She was simply amazing, he dropped his eyes to the sand. He didn’t want to, but it was for the best. Tonight he would leave her….for good.

He kicked off his shoes as well and ran after her.

Rain began to fall, Hermione laughed, she turned up her hands and spun around. Her dress kissed the waves.

Hermione and Draco walked into their room, both soaking wet from the storm outside.

Draco took off their bracelets, he placed them on the night stand. “Now we can fill those picture frames. About time huh?”

Hermione gave him a towel, she ran one through her hair, trying to get it as dry as possible. “Definitely.”

Draco sat down on the bed, he had to leave now. He was already putting Hermione at risk for being with her this long.

“Mione.”

She wiped her face then looked at him.

“Yes?”

“I..I need to leave.”

Hermione gave him a confused looked. “What…what do you mean you have to leave Draco?”

He rubbed his eyes, “I cant be with you anymore.”

“What is going on with you lately?!” Hermione stomped her foot. “We haven’t talked for two months, we acted like each other didn’t exist. Then I come home to you bleeding almost dead, and you refuse tell me why. Then you want to have a fun day, then you destroy it by tell me you need to leave?!”

Draco stood up. “Look…”

“No! Listen to me!”

“No! You listen to me, I am sick of you always cutting me off. I’m sick of you bossing me around, telling me what to do. I am eighteen years old, almost nineteen! I am allowed to keep things from you. He kicked the dresser. “We are not even really married!”

Hermione whipped the towel at him. “And whose fault is that!? I didn’t have to do this, its not my fault! You are such an idiot!”

Draco’s temper was rising. “You’re an idiot for agreeing to this!” He stormed out the bedroom.

Hermione ran after him, she leaned over the railing. “You are such a child!

Draco looked up at her. “It takes one to know one. Whatever I’m not going to fight with you, I’m out of here.” He took his jacket from the coat rack and opened the door.

“Fine! Just leave it’s the only thing you are good at! You always give up when things get to hard!”

He slammed the door, making Hermione jump.

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me Malfoy. Ever since I’ve known you, you always give up. Even on the littlest thing!”

“I do not!”

“Yes you do! Your family, friends, school and me! I don’t even know what I was thinking.” She threw her hands up in the air. “I acutely thought that maybe this whole marriage thing could work. But you proved me wrong.”

Draco couldn’t believe what he was hearing, she wanted to be with him. “I don’t know….you were right we cannot handle each other. I think we should just get a divorce now.” He noticed her eyes were sparkling, she was about to cry.

“Draco when are you going to realize?!”

“Realize what?”

Hermione wiped away with her tears with the back of her hand. “That…That…..I’m in love with you, you idiot!”

Draco felt as if he stopped breathing, he ran up the stairs, taking Hermione into his arms, enclosing her mouth into a kiss, Hermione wrapped her arms around his neck, Draco picked her up, carrying her to the bedroom, kicking the door shut.

Hermione woke the next morning, she was freezing. She pulled her blankets around her neck and reached out for Draco. But all she felt were cold sheets.

“Draco…” She whispered.

But there was no response. She slowly opened her eyes, the bed was empty. Sitting up she looked around the room. Everything of his was gone, the dresser was ajar, the closet was open reveling only her things.

He left her.

Hermione pulled her knees to her chest, sobbing into his Slytherin shirt.
