CHAPTER 8

“He really said all that stuff? There has got to be something wrong with Malfoy.”
The group was quietly talking in potions class as Professor Snape walked around observing the partners and giving his snippy comments on how the Slytherins were so much better than the Gryffindors at everything.
“Well, Potter. Maybe you should continue being partners with Ms. Diggory here. She seems to know all of her potions information. Ten points to Gryffindor, don’t make me regret it.”
Without so much as another word, Snape walked off, leaving the four of them stunned.
“What is with people today? People who are usually mean are being nice. What’s next, nice people are going to act rotten?”
Ron looked at the other three expecting a laugh but they all just rolled their eyes. After class they all walked into the Great Hall for lunch and continued the rest of the day normally. Fred and George were talking unexpecting first years into trying their latest items, Ron was busy trying to swindle Hermione into doing his homework and Hermione was busy ignoring him. Harry and Alyssa slipped out of the common room and walked by the lake. He told her about the Tri-Wizard Tournament and explained all of the tasks to her, Right down to the maze, the last time her father had seen Cedric alive.
“I still think that it should’ve been me. I see the pain in your eyes every day Aly. I feel bad that I lived when your brother didn’t.”
They stopped walking and Alyssa turned to face Harry.
“I used to think that maybe things would be better if Cedric had lived and you had died. But when I’m with you, I feel that void fill up. Harry, we’ve been dating for a month but I know in my heart that we were meant to be.”
Harry smiled at her, and then kissed her passionately on the lips. They walked hand in hand back towards the castle and parted ways when they got to the DADA classroom. Harry went in and Alyssa started walking towards the common room when she heard footsteps behind her.
“Malfoy, are you sure she’s your sister? Maybe you have got the wrong girl.”
Crabbe and Goyle were following Draco like loyal dogs and were trying to keep up with his fast pace.
“Of course I’m sure. She has all the qualities of a Malfoy,”
Alyssa hid in a broom closet and listened to the rest.
“But she’s not in Slytherin. She’s in Gryffindor.”
Malfoy stopped and turned to sneer at his companions.
“She was raised by the Diggory’s. Obviously she wouldn’t be in Slytherin. My job isn’t to get her into Slytherin. It’s to get her to join Voldermort. You two go back to the common room. I have to finish some homework.”
Crabbe and Goyle walked off and Draco sat outside of the library for several minutes before getting up and going in. Alyssa came out of her hiding spot and tears were rolling down her face. She realized that he didn’t care that she was his sister. He only cared about getting her to work for Voldemort. She ran back towards the DADA classroom and sat patiently outside, waiting for Harry to get done. And as she waited, the pain of memories of Cedric came back. She knew that she could never have a brother like him.
