Continue Story (I copy and paste from internet) - Chapter 21 - 'HE KNEW EACH TEAR BEFORE IT CAME – HERMIONE AND GEORGE'

CHAPTER 21

The first hour was a torment for Hermione and George as they all sat on couches in the Sitting Room. Ron didn’t really talk to anyone but Hermione and he wouldn’t say a word to George at all. Seeing the way that Ron had been treating his brother broke her heart as she looked over at George who was playing a game of Wizards’ Chess with Fred while Ginny watched. Hermione moved closer after a while to talk to Ron without the others hearing, even though they knew the whole story.

“Lupin is with Harry right now,” Hermione said softly.

“WHAT?!” Ron exclaimed. “But why?”

“He needed to move fast and keep acting, according to Tonks, and he believed that you wouldn’t be there to help him right away,” she explained. “And looky-here. He was right.” Ron rolled his eyes and Hermione just crossed her arms. “Don’t roll your eyes at me.

“Why not?” he asked in a playful manner. She rolled her eyes at him and smiled. “You and George still…”

“Yeah,” she replied as she looked over at George and smiled. Hermione’s head snapped back to Ron and she was not looking happy. “Because of you, he almost broke up with me though.”

“Really?” Ron asked, trying his best to sound surprised.

Hermione gave him a cold stare as she looked at her best friend. “I love you with all of my heart Ron but that’s harsh to tell your brother that he’s not your ‘real’ brother anymore because he’s dating the girl you left behind because you didn’t want her to be in danger, even though I will always be in danger, and because you don’t want to be tied down.”

“That’s not true,” Ron said as he brought his hands out to hold hers.

She pulled her hands away and crossed her arms again. “Even I know it is Ron,” she replied. “I know the way guys’ minds work seeing as I’ve been broken up with before with this one guy who I had dated a few summers ago. He broke up with me because he didn’t want to be tied down when he went to Hawaii for two months. I know why you broke up with me. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have asked me out so soon before you had to leave if you were just going to break up with me.” Ginny, Fred, and George had turned their heads to look their way as Hermione looked at Ron.

“But now we can have a fresh start since mum will never let me go to help Harry at all,” Ron said as he looked at her with a small smile.

“No we can’t Ron,” Hermione replied. “I’m with George.” A silence filled the room that felt more like pins and needles. Ron’s shoulders completely dropped as he looked at Hermione. “I’m sorry Ron.” Ron shot George a dirty look and then looked back up with Hermione with sad eyes. “Don’t look at me or George like that. It’s rude and you shouldn’t be mad at George at all.”

“Why shouldn’t I?” Ron asked.

There was a squeal from Ginny before Hermione could answer that made everyone look in the direction that she was running too. They all watched her throw herself into the arms of a tall person with messy jet-black hair. Hermione let out a squeal too and walked over to them. Everyone was crowding around Harry Potter and Remus Lupin as they stood in the kitchen. Harry was holding a now sobbing Ginny in his arms as he looked around the room. Once Ginny had composed herself, he let go and hugged Hermione for a while too. She had tears streaming down her cheeks but she wouldn’t allow herself to sob at all. She let go of Harry and rubbed at her eyes.

“What are you doing here?” she asked. “Why aren’t you two…You did it?!”

“I did it!” Harry exclaimed as he punched the air above him. “Lupin took on the Death Eaters that were surrounding us. Voldemort in the center had his wand pointing straight at my heart.”

Lupin walked over to them as he held a sobbing Tonks. “He told the others to try to kill me but since they were all teenagers, they were a little bit scared to. They just shot hexes at me while Voldemort and Harry dueled. It was an amazing duel too. Harry had to send the same Unforgivable Curse at his opponent. The wands met and…”

“It’s not the first time that’s happened for me though,” Harry explained. “Just this time, our wands shook so hard, Voldemort dropped his. He actually died this time.”

Ministry members burst through the kitchen door with Arthur Weasley and ran over to Harry and Lupin. Cheers of triumph were heard but then soon enough, all the Ministry members who had come in, apparaited away, including Arthur. Mrs. Weasley rushed Harry and Lupin into the Sitting Room where everyone sat down to hear more of Harry’s tale. Ron kept shooting sad glances at Hermione who kept looking over at George with a smile on her face as she looked over at Harry as well. She couldn’t believe it. Harry made it without a scratch at all. He was a tad bit dirty but besides that, he was completely unscathed. Ginny was wiping at her eyes as she cried due to happiness. Hermione looked over at Ron and finally felt a pang in her heart. Her eyes grew sad but she tried her best to hide her emotions. She had gotten really good at doing it.

“Lucius was sentenced to death but Draco got off!” Lupin said in an agitated voice. “The Minister says that even though he was the reason that Dumbledore died, it really was Snape who killed him and that Draco was made a Death Eater as revenge against his father being captured. That Draco was still young enough to fix his wrong doings.”

“What’s worse is, the Ministry asked for someone to take Malfoy in until he’s able to get his own place since the Malfoy Manor had been turned over to the Ministry when his mum and him went into hiding and your dad said yes,” Harry said as he looked at Ron. “Malfoy is going to be here by the end of the night when your dad comes home.” A loud groan was heard from everyone but Hermione as she sat there thinking about what was going on.

“I don’t want that scum in this house,” Ron said.

A dawned look came over Hermione’s face as she looked at Fred and George. “You two are leaving soon to go back to Diagon Alley aren’t you?” she asked.

Fred and George nodded as they looked at Hermione. “We have to. We have to make sure that the shop is in great condition for when we open it up again,” Fred explained. George met eyes with Hermione who felt a numbness fall over her again. She nodded and plastered a smile on her face as she looked away.
