CHAPTER 80

“Does anyone know where Miss Granger is?” Snape asked as he walked up to the front of the classroom with a smug look on his face for he knew that she was probably as far away from that room as she could get without leaving grounds. Everyone gave him blank stares, waiting for him to continue. “No one knows? Weasley, you must know,” he went on, watching as Ron’s cheeks grew almost as red as his hair.

“No, sir,” Ron said as he looked down at his hands. “I don’t know where Hermione is.”

“Mr. Malfoy, you of all people must know where your fiancé is,” Snape said.

Draco’s eyes flashed with anger. “You know what? I bet she’s as far away from here as possible! Who would want to be near the teacher that decided to make you feel horrible because you were in love?” he said as he looked up at Snape, pure hatred in his eyes to towards the teacher that had done so much for him.

“Mr. Malfoy, why must you instill so much hostility towards me?” Snape asked.

Draco didn’t reply. He just stood to his feet, grabbed his possessions, and left the room. No one had said anything as he left. The only people who had ever really left a class was Fred and George but they left school all together and Hermione who never returned to Divination. The moment that he had gotten out of the class, Draco made his way over to the Heads’ Common Room. Even if Hermione wasn’t there, Draco just wanted to be along and he wanted to possibly take a nap. Why be awake when really all you wanted to do was sleep?

Hermione flicked her wand at her feet, which were no longer in the lake, to dry them. Putting her shoes and socks back on, Hermione grabbed her bag from next to her and made her way back into the castle. She was going to have to tell everyone why she wasn’t in class and she certainly didn’t want to do that but even she knew that she had to so she had to realize what she needed to say. The moment that she entered the castle, though, she was bombarded by students and Snape.

“Well, well, well; look who we have here everyone,” Snape said. Hermione looked around, her friends were no where within that group. None of the Slytherins that she had grown close to were there, none of the Gryffindors that still liked her were there. “Look at who decided to grace us with her presence everyone,” Snape went on. It was then that Hermione realized that the people were all Death Eaters.

Gulping, Hermione took off down the hall, pulling her wand out of her pocket. Shooting spells as fast as she could out at random objects, she made her way down the hall. As she got to a dead end at the end of the hallway, Hermione apparaited to the Heads’ Common Room. Everyone that Hermione wanted to see was there. “We…We have to get out of here!” she exclaimed as she heard banging noises all around the school. “D-Death Eaters…” was all she was able to get out again before everyone was up on their feet. Before could even comprehend knew what had happened, they were standing in the cellar of the Malfoy Manor.

“Death Eaters?” Harry asked. “Are you sure?”

“Why would they come after you?” Ron asked.

“Easy,” Pansy started, “to get to both you and Draco.”

“This is insane!” Ginny said before Harry got them quiet.

“They’ll all be here soon so let’s hold hands and everyone keep your minds clear. I’ll get us to safety,” Harry said. Everyone grabbed each other’s hands, waiting to be led somewhere new by Harry.

Hermione closed her eyes and started to picture the Quidditch Pitch in Romania and before she knew what had happened, everyone was there. “What happened?” Harry asked. “I was supposed to…” He stopped the moment that he realized where he was. All around them was the Romanian team, flying ahead and trying to practice.

The team completely stopped practicing and they were stunned. “Hermione?” a voice called.
