CHAPTER 36

Pansy spent the next two days in St. Mungo's, Dr. Ashby and the two nurses taking care of her. She felt much better, and even the marks around her throat were fading. The food wasn't that good, but Pansy wasn't complaining.

Blaise was by her side whenever it was visiting hours. She had gotten used to him showing up, seeing his beaming face in the doorway. They watched muggle TV and laughed at the melodramatic soap operas that seemed to be constantly on. He assured her that she was missed at work but that the first priority was her recovery.

On the third day Pansy was released from St. Mungo's and Blaise came so that they could apparate together, since he was still worried for her health.

"You don't have to come to work today, Pansy. Just go home and rest up."

"Blaise, that's all I have been doing the past week or so!"

"You weren't even conscious for half of that time! I am still worried about you." At this point he squeezed her hand, which he had been holding for the apparition.

"Blaise, I have been bored out of my mind the past few days. I beg you to let me come to work."

Blaise looked down at her with an anxious expression before hesitantly nodding his head to show his approval.

Pansy stepped into the office with Blaise moments later and was relieved to see familiar faces. However, as she opened the door to her room, the room where she had last been attacked by Draco, she stepped back and had a panic attack. She could tell Draco was there, in the room, somewhere. He had been notably absent from her bedside the past few days, and now she could tell he was going to make up for it. Would he punish her more for trying to reveal the truth to Blaise?

"Is something wrong?" Blaise asked.

Pansy refused to speak, scared to say anything that might provoke Draco.

"Pansy, are you having another attack?" He asked, this time with more concern.

She placed her hands, unconsciously, in the two places where indents from her fingers had formed from the attack. When she looked in the mirror they still glowed bright red, reminding her of the incident.

Blaise was so intent upon searching her face for clues that, apparently, Draco found it safe to reveal himself. He quickly showed himself to her, his hands around his own neck and his tongue sticking out, his eyes rolling in the back of his head. He was obviously mimicking her. As soon as he had appeared, he disappeared.

She took a few deep breaths and then went to sit down at her desk. "I'm fine, Blaise, I just missed this place."
