CHAPTER 18
"Where did you find it?" Dean asked. "Behind this book." Neville said. "The title looked interesting so I pulled it out to look at it and it fell out." "Put it back." Dean ordered. "We'll get a court order to search the house. Even if we can't find any other evidence, we got this dagger. It will put an end to the other murder case." Neville nodded and put the dagger back where he found it. He placed the book back in its spot and looked at Dean. "But we can't get a court order to search the house without evidence." Neville said. "They haven't found any evidence yet. Who knows if they will find any?" Dean pondered that thought. Neville had a point. Blaise had been in trouble with the auror countless times. And each time, there was no evidence to be found. His mother had been the same way. He obviously learned from her. Dean started to pace the room. "This guy is sick!" Dean cried. "We have to stop him from harming women." "But how?" Neville questioned. "We have no evidence." Dean looked at Neville and said in a serious tone "Then we will have to plant some." Neville blinked. "What? No!" he cried. "We're aurors, we're supposed to bring in the bad guy not incriminate them." "He incriminated himself!" Dean cried. "We're just going to make sure that he pays for what he did to all those women. If we don't do this, then he will walk again and he will be free to hurt more women."
Neville bit his lip. He ran his fingers through his hair. "What if he had attacked your grandmother?" Dean asked. "Hit her over the head until she died, until she bled to death?" Neville's eyes narrowed. He looked up at Dean. "Alright." he said. "Let's plant it." Dean nodded. "But what will we plant?" Neville asked. Dean paused. "I know." he replied. He walked over to the desk and opened the top drawer. He reached in and pulled out a wallet. He opened the wallet and Neville saw that Blaise's id was in it. Dean slipped it into his pocket. "Let's go." he ordered. Dean walked back to the door and cracked it open. He peeked outside. No one. Dean turned and nodded toward Neville. Dean walked out into the hall. Neville followed, closing the door behind him. Dean walked quietly down the hall. Neville followed. They got to the room where they first had come in at when they heard footsteps walking closer. Dean and Neville darted into the room. The footsteps got closer. Neville pulled open a closet and ran inside. He waved to Dean to come in but it was too late. The person was already to the room. Dean jumped behind the couch. Neville groaned and closed the closet door. At that exact moment, a little girl of 8 or 9 walked into the room. It was Blaise's oldest daughter Sunshine. She was humming a tune to herself. She walked across the room and picked up her guitar. She started to turn back around when she shivered. She saw the window was open. "Why is this open?" she asked aloud. She shook her head and shut the window. She turned, guitar in hand, and she left the room. Dean poked his head up from behind the couch. He stood up and crept over to the door. He peeked out into the hall and saw her retreating back. Once she was gone from view, he shut the door.
"Okay, Neville, let's go." he said. Neville opened the closet door and stepped out. He shut the door behind him. Dean walked over to the window and opened it. He gracefully jumped out. Neville groaned as he saw how far he had to jump. He took a deep breath and jumped. Dean waved his wand and the window closed once more. The two disapperated back to Sarah Wittle's house. Dean slipped the wallet into Neville's pocket. "Drop it somewhere upstairs." Dean muttered in Neville's ear. "Wait a few minutes and then act like you found it." Neville nodded and disappeared upstairs. Dean walked into the living room and found Harry, Aly, and a sick looking Hermione. They all turned to look at Dean. "Did you hear?" Harry asked. "No, Neville and I were searching the yard." Dean told them. "Hear what?" "We found some meat that was in the dog's tore open stomach." Aly told him. "We believed that it was poisoned." Dean blinked. That didn't make sense. "But if the dog was cut open, then why did they even bother poisoning it?" Dean asked. "That's what we are trying to figure out." Hermione replied, sounding a little annoyed. "We think two different people did this. Not knowing about the other one. We think one person had a grudge against her and wanted to get back at her by poisoning the dog. And then someone came later and killed them both." Harry explained. Hermione glared at Harry. 'Which did Blaise do?' Dean thought to himself. Neville ran into the room. "Harry, Harry, I found something upstairs." he cried breathlessly.
