Hermione munched on a donut as she read the Daily Prophet. She sat the donut down on her desk and sipped her coffee. She looked at the clock. On her lunch break she would be going to see Sarah. She finished reading the paper. Her donut had long been gone. She was anxious. She couldn't wait any longer. Hermione pushed back her chair and stood up. She picked up her cloak and put it on. She left her office. "I'll be back later." Hermione called to her secretary. She walked out the front door and smacked right into Bridget Scrimgeour. Bridget was Rufus Scrimgeour's middle daughter. Bridget's blue green eyes looked her over with disdain. "Mudblood, watch where you're going!" she spat. Hermione rolled her eyes. "So you are defending Zabini?" Bridget asked. "Yes." Hermione asked. "What's it to you?" "Do you think he is innocent?" Bridget asked. "Yes I do." Hermione defended. "I'm guessing you don't?" "Ordinarily people live and learn." Bridget told Hermione. "You just live." Hermione rolled her eyes. Bridget smirked to herself and walked off. Hermione sighed and disapperated. She appeared outside Sarah's house. The house was dark and small. It gave Hermione the chills. Knowing how religious Sarah was, it was like having God watch over you. She walked up the stairs and slowly walked to the door. She hestitated before knocking.

No answer. She groaned. "Please be home." she begged. She had anxiously been waiting to talk to her. Hermione raised her fist and knocked louder on the door. This time, the door creaked open. Hermione glanced into the hallway. "Hello?" she called. "Ms Wittle, are you home?" There was no reply. She looked down the hall and she saw Sarah's dog laying on the floor. Hermione whistled, hoping to get the dog's attention, but the dog didn't look up at all. Hermione blinked and whistled a little louder. Still nothing. Hermione sighed and pushed the door the rest of the way open. She hestitated before walking down the hall. She got to the dog and knealt down beside it. She petted the dog's head gently. Her hand felt wet. Hermione blinked and looked at her hand. It was covered in blood. Her brown eyes grew wide. She moved the dog a little and fell back. The dog's insides were gone. She stood up and ran from the room. She ran into the living room. She was breathing hard. She looked around the room and screamed. Sarah's body was lying near the couch, her head was bloody. She jumped back and ran from the house. She fell to her knees and was sick. Hermione wiped her mouth. "The baby can't handle this job." she muttered. She reached into her pocket and pulled her out her cell phone. She called the aurors.

An hour later, Harry appeared at the house. Aly was standing a little ways away talking to Dean Thomas and Neville Longbottom. Aly, Dean, and Neville saw him and stopped talking. Harry stormed over. "Can someone please tell me why our only witness is dead?!?" Harry screamed. Aly, Dean, and Neville jumped, but said nothing. Harry growled and pushed past them. He stormed to the house. Aly hurried after him. "Hermione called in, she was the one to find the body." she told him. Harry stopped walking and turned to look at her. "Is she still here?" he asked. "Yes." Aly replied. "Take me to her." Harry ordered. Aly nodded and walked toward the house. Harry followed behind her.
